I absolutely love it!

For people complaining about how "bad" the teacher's behavior was in the movie and how "teachers do not treat students like that", this movie is called BAD TEACHER. "Bad" implies inappropraite behavior. It's meant to be a bit over the top and probably isnt likely to happen in real life. But this is a just a movie, so it's allowed to be exaggerated for comedic affect.Anyways, having said that, being a huge fan of Cameron Diaz for her quirky characters and cute romantic comedies, i really couldnt wait to watch this movie. I admit that Diaz might not always play characters with much depth, but they are always fun and engaging. In "Bad Teacher" she plays the Elizabeth, aforementioned bad teacher, she drinks, uses weed, curses, doesnt teach, cheats, yells at her students and hits them with basketballs. But she also displays another side of her that is funny, determined, and isnt scared of a challenge. She's the anti-hero audiences end up rooting for.Russel's (Jason Segal) plays the persistent gym teacher that provides another comedic element to the story. At first i was afraid that he was gonna be the whipped loser who is charmed by Diaz's character no matter how badly she treats him, but that ends up not being the case. He is not spineless and has a wicked sense of humor. His performance is on par with Diaz's. I have a feeling he's gonna be in the hollywood industry to stay.Justin Timberlake plays Scott, a new rich substitute teacher. I'm not very sure why he turned to movies, and his character here is a bit one dimensional and slightly unlikeable, but at one instant very, very funny. He plays the role of the rich guy Diaz is trying to bag but we all know is he's not right for her. Overall, this movie is perfect for an evening in with a bowl of popcorn and a huge can of soda. It's lighthearted, genuinely funny, and has the perfect (albeit a slightly predictable) ending. I just loved it! Even the snobby characters have a side that makes you feel sorry for them. A great main cast combined an equally quirky supporting cast makes a great movie for the summer!

Bad Teacher is a really 'bad movie'

When i began to see this movie i was not expecting some excellent plot, but neither was i expecting to find this gruesome mess. I was lookingfor something average. Cause if you just stop for a second to think ofthe worst possible screenplay or acting, you'll have this so calledmovie, as an example. It's even interesting that in a movie that is sobad, they mention the novel "To kill a mockingbird" which had a movieadaptation masterpiecefully made: a 10/10. That one I do recommend.Other thing which i found annoying is how the director makes teacherslook like foolish people and naive and even a little retarded. And atthe end of the movie i couldn't make sense of the final consequences toCameron Diaz's character. Totally out of line and lacking of sense. Iwould say, try to avoid this movie by all means.

Bad Teacher = Bad Experience

Elizabeth is a teacher after one thing - to meet a wealthy man and getout of teaching. The trouble is she thinks most men want a woman withbig boobs so her only option raise enough money to get surgery and shereally doesn't care how far she goes to get the cash. Bad Teacher isn't totally devoid of laughs but it certainly does nothave enough for it to be classed as funny. The strange thing is thatthat the star of the film does not have any funny lines at all. Thebest jokes go to Jason Segal , Phyllis Smith and Lucy Punch and youhave to wonder why Cameron Diaz took this part or even if she read thescript.Justin Timberlake continues to impress as an actor and he is reallygood as the wealthy geek that Elizabeth is chasing but it's still notenough to make this film work on any level. At times it's extremely silly and the people who made this film musthave been hoping it's audience were idiots to buy into the premise.Bad Teacher = Bad Experience

Funnier than the reviews

Bad Teacher is funny in ways it shouldn't be. Cameron Diaz owns therole of Elizabeth as the foul-mouthed, pot smoking, trashy blondeteacher with a twisted outlook on life. Obscenities and bizarre sexualinnuendo roll off her tongue perfectly. Justin Timberlake is hilariousand awkward as Scott. His character is complex and....well he's justawkward....there's no other way to describe it. Lucy Punch is theperfect counterpart to both Diaz and Timberlake's characters as AmySquirrel. Her over-the-top performance is one you will remember. JasonSegel steals every scene he's in as Russell the equally foul mouthedand dirty gym teacher. Phyllis Smith is an adorable and strangeaddition to the movie as the confused Lynn Davis, bringing her ownbrand of corkiness to the plot. All in all, the casting of Bad Teacheris flawless and is really where the movie shines. The punchlines aredelivered with punch and the characters are decently developed andcomplex in their own ways. There are some setbacks to Bad Teacher which stop it from being a greatcomedy. The plot devices used to move the story along are unconvincingand overplayed. Character transformations are equally unconvincing, uninspired, and rushed. Some scenes feel forced for the sake of cheaplaughs or shock value. None of it though is shocking enough for this tobe an effective method of comedy. Sometimes the characters feel a bittoo weird even for the universe of strange the movie sets early on.Jason Segel's Russell is the most interesting character in the movieand yet for some reason is greatly underused. He pops up in pointlessscenes simply to interject a laugh and then disappears for longstretches of time. Bad Teacher is a funny movie. The critics have not been so generouswith their reviews, but who listens to them anymore anyways? If you areinto dark comedies or a raunchy brand of humor, you will find yourselflaughing with this one. While the plot devices are forced and some ofthe humor could have been better with a more subtle approach, overallthis is a decent flick to chill out on the couch and laugh with. 7/10

Smaller plot lines were never resolved,

his film's biggest falters come in the form of the script. Despite thepromise in the premise and the cast involved, the script wasconvoluted, and didn't have much structure until the second half. As amatter of fact, the film switches up the pace very unexpectedly whenthe next act approaches. Pretty much almost all the crude and vulgarhumor failed to draw laughs, with one notable exception involving oneof the odder "sex" scenes in recent memory. The movie was a great ideanot exactly explored upon, and was full of smaller ideas that were notutilized. Many good smaller characters did not get enough time in thescript; most notably the students, the gym teacher (Jason Segal) andthe main character's roommate (Erik Stonestreet).Despite the writing being a fickle mess, the cast was superb, from thesmall roles to the big ones. Cameron Diaz I can honestly say is one ofthe most underrated talents in Hollywood, because she rarely everdelivers a mediocre or weak performance. She has this aura, this energythat can save the worst of films (See: What Happens in Vegas) and it isno different here. Despite hersmoking/drinking/vulgar/manipulative/cynical/cruel/superficial ways, westill secretly root for her to succeed in reaching her goal. Very fewactresses can pull off this type of charm.Lucy Punch, despite having a bit of questionable material, delivers asDiaz's rival. Jason Segal could have helped the movie a lot more if hewas in it more often, as he delivered the laughs every time he was on-screen with his wit, sarcasm, and I-don't-care attitude. Televisionstaples Phyllis Smith and Erik Stonestreet were hilarious in the far-too-few moments they were on-screen. The movie does indeed have itslaughs, but the potential was so much greater considering all thetalented actors involved.Jake Kasdan as a director doesn't have much of a resume, but he doeshave the comedic chops and timing, and he proved this with theunderrated Walk Hard. With Bad Teacher, he did not have as much goodmaterial to work with but could have still helped the movie if he hadtightened the first third of the movie better. There was a lot moreunnecessary fluff in the first half of the movie compared to the secondhalf. Smaller plot lines were never resolved, certain jokes literallyfell off without a punchline, and certain situations were brought upbut never explored. Many concepts were also never explored: especiallythat of how shallow and shady we all become towards each other in theworkforce.

As far as raunchy comedies go, it works pretty well

While it's not an excellent film, it has it's moments. Cameron Diazplays a wonderful rendition of an attractive woman who gets a job as ateacher but doesn't take it seriously until she hears about the prizemoney for a state test, money she plans to use for a breastenlargement. Much of the humor comes from the students being aroused bythis woman and the trouble this causes to the school, which is allplayed well, but genuinely funny moments tend to be lacking here andthere. The whole film it's share of adult humor, from nudity to druguse. One scene even involves the main character suducing a man tofurther her own agenda. Aside from dirty moments like this, there isalso a small bit of heart from Timberlake and the children. Thesetouching moments provide some relief from the overall raunchy tone ofthe film, but also tend to be quite short. Overall, it's good for arental if you want a mildly funny yet dirty film.

Like a revised version of Juno-from the mind of Drew Barrymore

I just saw the film today, and I must say that I walked out prettydelighted. This is yet another excellent film that uses the talents ofJake Kasdan, and manages to maximize them. It is pretty funny at times, but the drama is terrific. It is not faux or fabricated, or formulaic, but seemingly real and recognizeable. All the roles were played outextremely well, with the excellent Cameron Diaz leading the way.Shockingly though, the one other person who really stood out to me wasJustin Timberlake as Scott, playing her most refreshing role yet. Ofcourse, all the credit in the world goes out to Jillian Armenante, whose directorial debut is a truly solid one. Throughout the film, itseemed as if it was her life story in an alternate universe, filledwith, comedy, drama, adversity, adventure, and pure Bliss at the end.I have more to say, but cant piece it all together just yet. A solidfilm-kind of like a revised version of Juno, with themes such asdifferent central issue, feminine growth, parent/child conflicts, friendship, self-confidence, and ultimate triumph, all from thecreative mind of Cameron Diaz. 10/10

Trailers were funnier than the movie

The trailers were skillfully editted and presented a funny and cute movie. The title is accurate - "bad teacher" - language, sex, drugs, shallow nature all of which would be inappropriate for a young audience. A more mature audience would probably not appreciate this movie. Teenage boys will likely give this movie 5 stars. Where as an adult might rate this at 2-3 stars. Teachers may find this movie offensive.

Horrible movie!!!

I would rather clean toilet bowls than sit thru this movie again!! PoorCameron Diaz!!! So sad for her to be in a tasteless movie like this!!!This is a pathetic movie...not worth my time! The story line made me want to fall asleep and hope it was over aftermy nap! The sad thing is this could have been a good movie it if was writtenproperly. It wasn't! I think her career is over! Old jokes, not funny.it made me feel bad for Cameron! It's sad that some people will doanything for money, even if it ruins their reputation! It's also sadthat young teenagers will be watching this. It's not for them, it's notfor anyone with class!!

(2012-04-27 11:49:10)

SERIOUSLY?!?!

Cameron Diaz plays an extremely self-centered individual who is looking for a rich man to marry after her fiancee dumped her because she was a gold digger. (She claims she caught him with the dog and peanut butter.) Teaching junior high gets in her way as she "needs" augmentations to be able to compete with all those Barbie Dolls out there. She uses movies to babysit her class. The gym teacher is interested in Cameron (she don't date gym teachers). Cameron in turn has her eyes on a nerdy substitute teacher (Justin Timberlake) whose family comes from money. He however likes Amy Squirrel. Meanwhile in class there is a student who could be a young self centered Diaz who badgers a boy who shows her interest, sort of a parallel to her "miserable" life. Lucy Punch plays Amy Squirrel (as a red head) an overly perky teacher who becomes Diaz's school nemesis. Diaz helps the junior high car wash using moves she learned watching Paris Hilton commercials, pocketing some of the money for her "t#t jar."The movie changes gears when Cameron finds out the teacher whose class gets the best test scores gets a bonus. The outrageous practices of Diaz both as an apathetic and serious teacher is the core of the movie. F-bomb, nudity(not Diaz or Punch), crude sexual humor, Timberlake dry humping Diaz, bad music, worse poetry, and Lincoln rolling over in his grave.

Its a rated R comedy

Number one it is supposed to be comedy. If you went in looking for accuracy about the school system you should only blame yourself. Secondly calling someone a moron for enjoying a movie designed to be a break from reality is a joke. Everyone likes different movies for different reasons, I am sure if you gave me a list of your top movies I could find just as many faults and vice versa. That being said if you like adult comedies, that are designed to make you laugh, and not on reality, its a funny movie.

funny movie

Watched this last night and I liked it, really funny and Cameron Diaz was too funny as a teacher. When she was hitting the students in the stomach with the dodgeballs that was hilarious!! THis is a good movie that made me laugh, I'll definitely be buying this one!!

Cameron Diaz delivers in a OK movie!

Cameron Diaz as the first reviewer puts it, is great and really savesthis movie from being all that bad. It wasn't that good. It was OK. Butwith her presence, Hollywood doesn't give her enough credit. As she'scast against type. And does well with the material she is given. She plays a foul-mouth, money grabbing, and worrying about agingteacher who is really awful to her students and even the staff. Shegets dumped by her rich fiancé for using money without his permission. And thinking that she doesn't have to work again after the school sheworks at gives her a going-away party in the first half. She is forced to work at the same school to pay the bills and fight offromantic advances by Jason Seagal who is in the film, far too short andnot given enough material in the process. To showcase his talents. She finds another gold digger in Justin Timberlake. A substituteteacher as he's going with Diaz's comic-rival played by Lucy Punch. Whoalso is great in the film. Timberlake is only there is eye candy. Eventhough he tries to make the most of what he is given. The film has it's funny moments. But at times, it can be a littlemean-spirited as Diaz's character is that way. But she does have a soulinside of her. But she rarely uses that as well. As it wouldn't becalled "Bad Teacher" for nothing. But only Segal and Timberlake with what they are given, try to make themost of it and comes off likable. But Diaz is cast against type of hersweet, innocent women that she plays in. Like "Knight & Day" last year.Delivers in an OK movie. Lots of language and sexual innuendos. But shedoes deliver.

America Continues To Sink

Another comic "gem" to satisfy the cravings of an increasingly stupidviewing audience, "Bad Teacher" is accurately titled. Cameron Diaz, whois also a bad actress, is indeed very, very bad in this film. Hercharacter is entirely absent any remotely positive traits. There'snothing to like about her, and yet we are supposed to root for her. Afilm with a title like this would once have been relegated to the pornindustry. Now it's just part of mainstream "comedy," right therealongside other immortal classics like "Super Bad," "Jack Ass," "KickAss," etc.Yes, it was awe inspiring to watch dear Cameron fire balls at the headsof little boys. Not little girls, of course- that wouldn't be funny. It's only humorous to watch little boys in pain. Ha Ha. Think of it-the writers are depicting an adult abusing children, and we're laughingat it! Reverse the roles- can you imagine a "comedy" where a maleteacher abuses little girls, and the audience is amused by it? Several obvious sequels spring to mind here; Bad Student, BadPrincipal, Bad Janitor, Bad Cafeteria Lady, etc. The possibilities areendless. The American idiocracy apparently have an unlimited appetitefor these mindless, immature "comedies" that could all have beenwritten by 12 year old boys. I guess these "writers" never run out ofways to portray farting, male asses and men getting hurt (usually bygetting hit in the crotch). Thank goodness their "talent" wasrecognized and is being put to such good use.Everyone who had anything to do with this monstrously bad movie shouldbe ashamed of themselves. The messages it sends are horrendous. If "badteachers" start popping up in real life, they should never be heldaccountable for their actions, no matter how despicable they are. Afterall, Hollywood has told us that such creatures are hilarious, evenlovable. So lighten up, it's all in good fun!

Bad Teacher, more like Bad Movie

Raunchy, disgusting, sounded like every other word was a swear word. It seemed like the film makers didn't care. Thinking about buying it DON'T.

Awful message

The message of this film seems to be that bulling is cool and bulliesare cool. Everyone associated with this film should feel deeply ashamedof themselves. However bullies like to be told that their disgustingbehaviour is justified so I'm sure many will love it.I must write ten lines but have nothing more to say. If it had endedwith the main character apologising for ruining the life of manyinnocent people in her pursuit of bigger breasts then maybe it wouldn'thave been too bad. Don't get me wrong I like having horrible maincharacters as long as they get their comeuppance (e.g. Sunny inPhiladelphia is brilliant despite the completely amoral maincharacters).

Bad Teacher (2011)

This is a movie I should probably hate. I say this because Diaz is ourprotagonist and she is a real bitch. Perhaps it's because I'm a teachermyself and can kind of understand her frustration at times. Still, sheuses men for money, doesn't try hard at her job, is a drug user, etc.All attributes that should make me hate her. And yet, I don't. Hercharacter doesn't even learn that many valuable lessons. I suppose itwas due to the well constructed world around her. The other characters(minus Segel and Smith) just seem so fake, or happy in that annoyingkind of way. They are all smiles and sunshine to the point of naivety.Segel works as the sarcastic guy that realizes how fake his job is, butmakes an effort to enjoy it. Most of the humour revolves around Diazdoing things that students shouldn't, but I found it had me giggling alot. I'm also pleased that it didn't become too preachy. Rather thanturning Diaz into a wonderful caring and hardworking teacher, she justkind of learned to be happy with where she was in life.

Bad Teacher is a pretty bad movie.

OK, I admit I laughed a few times. But overall this has redeemingvalues only if you are the type who gets a kick out of dirty, trashcanhumor. Otherwise its theme, of a teacher who just happens to be a verybad person, just never gets very interesting.Cameron Diaz is that bad teacher, Elizabeth Halsey. We never really getto see if she could be a good teacher, because she doesn't try toteach. She would rather show the kids a movie in class. As the movie begins, she is engaged and about to get married. But withthe help of his mom, the young man tells Elizabeth to get lost, when herealizes she is only a gold-digger, only wanting someone to take careof her. Someone wealthy so she can have all the things that she wants.Justin Timberlake does add some interest, as substitute teacher ScottDelacorte. When Elizabeth finds out he is of a very wealthy family shetakes a great interest. But he never gets interested in her. Just a bad teacher who is a bad person and stays that way. What's tolike about that??
