Amazing MovieThis review is from: Despicable Me (Minion Madness DVD Double Pack) (DVD) Such a great movie with plenty of re-watchability! Great for kids and adults alike and the bonus movies add even more fun to the mix! This makes a great addition to any DVD collection, especially if you're a fan of these types of movies. |

the minion moviemy mother loves animated films and i adore them my self. my motherwalked out of this film. I stayed and watched, because i had to see howbad it really was. It was a great cartoon, it would do great with kidsand on Saturday morning, but not worth it pass the kids.If only kids go see this, it will do well, but honestly its not a greatanimated film, its like Jimmy Neutron that movie won an award for bestanimated film, even though in the same year final fantasy spiritswithin came out, and was a better movie Jimmy Neutron won cos it hadkid appeal. This movie has Kid appeal, and thats it.For adults it failed, they might do better making a minions movie. |

Finally, an original animated film!I saw this in the theatre, and loved every second of it. The story is very original, and does not steal from Disney films, as most animated features seem to do nowadays. I laughed, I cried, I had butterflies in my stomach for a week after seeing this! Most definitely for the villian fans! |

Best Comedy/3D Cartoon of the YearThis review is from: Despicable Me (Single-Disc Edition) (DVD) This movie wasn't promoted much and the previews looked ok, the usual kinds of previews that a lot of times deflate to nothing when you actually see the entire movie. However, this turned out to be a complete surprise. It's a very funny movie, which is extremely well done on all levels - the animation, the voices, the lessons, the pace... everything was done very well. The little minions are so cute - I wanted to buy one or more (unfortunately they movie makers weren't savvy enough this time to produce decent toys - big mistake on their part). The jokes were pretty funny, all throughout the movie. The story was interesting & not exactly predictable. The best thing about this movie was that there was plenty to keep both a kid and an adult interested, laughing & thoroughly enjoying the experience. Can't say the same about too many movies, especially animated ones. Highly recommend this one... I usually don't buy movies, but this one I had to get :) |

Funny and DelightfulA super villain named Gru (Steve Carrell) has an evil plan to shrink the moon, but first he has to get his hands on a shrink ray that his arch enemy Vector (Jason Segal) has. Vector orders cookies from 3 orphans a lot, so Gru comes up with a scheme to adopt the orphans in order to get in Vector's house and get the ray. He starts to get closer to the 3 girls though, which wasn't part of his plan. The movie is heartwarming and constantly funny and Gru's team of little yellow minions made me want one of my own. |

An Enteraining Movie For The Entire Family in 3DThis review is from: Despicable Me (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) Having just installed a new 3D TV I have been on a random buying spree trying to acquire 3D movies. This one had received some good reviews so I decided to add it to my collection as a 3D demo disc.Well it turned out the movie has not only some good 3D moments, but is also fun to watch even though I'm way past childhood. The movie is whimsical, light-hearted and full of fun; a good family movie. We'll be watching it again soon!It was interesting to note that some of the best 3D effects occur as the final credits roll so be sure and keep your glasses on and watch the final credits.I can recommend this movie for both the movie and the 3D effects. |

Despicable: Dangerous for children & othersAll the trite and worn clichés of pseudo-child comedies were well notedby top professional film reviewers like, A. O. Scott (NYT). While fullof hi-tech 3-D whiz and an ensemble of hyperbole to promote amass-market money maker, this film has grave dangers for both childrenand adult former victims of child abuse. A bright 3 year old girl continually asked her mum and aunt "is thissupposed to be funny". The aunt who had been a child victim of malesexual abuse was thoroughly traumatized by the main character'sdomination and exploitative treatment of the girls, which expressed asubtext playing on well-known characteristics of child abuse and abusersyndromes. in both speech and attitude as well as animated representation, thelittle female characters displayed many behavioral modalities ofsubmission and coquettishness characteristic of the fear and seductionof sexually abused girls. Such characteristics may be commonly embeddedduring the child's experience with a male abuser, most often a familymember, yet held onto during adulthood. Combined with fears generatedby the abuser, and feelings of guilt, these traits are deeply embeddedand difficult to release even through therapy, hindering may women fromexperiencing safety and fulfillment in adult relationships.Have these presentations of stereotypical characteristics commonlyrelated to child sexual abuse and abusers been overlooked, or merelysubmerged as titillation to mass audiences experiencing emotionalresponses they cannot dare to express?Shown before an audience of psychiatric and social work professionalsin the fields of child sexual abuse, and mature abuse victims, thisfilm would most probably be labeled as inappropriate for generalaudiences with warnings attached as to the covert messages embeddedwithin layers of trivial high tech stimulation. Should such verbalinnuendo, body language, proxemics and social interactions as portrayedin this film be observed in Roman Catholic priests, they would soon beinvestigated and perhaps prosecuted. |

Caught me by surpriseEverything already said has been said. I caught this movie as a secondchoice today as what I wanted to see was not available. I was "aware"of DM but the marketing never intrigued me to make the effort to seeit. Toy Story 3 and Inhception are my 2 favs so far but this gave it agood run for top 2. My vision doesn't allow me to adjust to 3D well andI almost left during the previews. Thank goodness I didn't. Once thefeature started my vision adjusted and thought the beginning sequencewas odd and intriguing. On the visit to the Bank of Evil and you seethe former title of the bank name I thought to myself this just mightbe for me.As I giggled myself silly from scene to scene I caught myself thinkingabout just how funny some of the earlier scenes were and when it wasquiet in the theater I was still giggling. The very odd character storyline yet familiar looking characters blended well from scene to scene. The pleasant surprise reminds me of when I saw the original "jackass"movie. I had never seen the TV show and had a little familiarity withwhat it entailed. My son was too young to see it at the time and he wasin another theater with his buddies watching something I had nointerest in. "Jackass" is simply that in a nutshell, however somethingstruck a chord with me and my screwed up youth. Very stupid, veryfunny, yet highly entertaining. There were times I couldn't catch mybreath from the insanity and i feel that same way with DM. Worth everypenny and a very worthy "Blindside". Looking up the writers anddirectors I'm very impressed with the quality of what some "newbies" tothe biz have given us. I look forward to the future screenings of theirwork. |

Despicably entertaining...There is something so wonderfully smart and charming about `Despicable Me', a cute animated film that understands that balance between funny and heartwarming. It made me laugh and it made me cry, and that was so needed! The film is kind of crazy but then again, it works so brilliantly because it isn't ashamed of its apparent lack of logic. The film centers around a super villain, Gru. Gru is pretty dumb actually. He wants funding for from the secret villain organization for his latest venture into villainy (he wants to steal the moon) but all funding is going to some new kid, Vector; a young and ambitious and obnoxious super villain who happens to have ties to the agency. Gru makes it his personal quest to outdo Vector. Rather ridiculously, Gru thinks that adopting three orphan girls who sell cookies will help him in his quest (like I said, this doesn't make the most sense, but it embraces that quality, which really helps). What Gru finds though, is that these three little brats are getting in the way of his villainous ways.In the end he needs to decide if he wants to be `superbad' or `superdad'.I know that a lot of people have had issues with the films construction and overall plot. It is out there, believe me, but it SOOOOOO works. The greatest thing I can say about this movie is that it is really, really funny. I mean, in a world where animated features are determined to take the place of live actions dramas to such an extreme that nearly every animated feature made has to involve such mature themes to target the parents over the children, `Despicable Me' entertained my daughter to ridiculous heights. It knows that it has to bring the funny to serve its purpose. On top of that, it sprinkled in the needed suruppy cheese in order to get a tear to fall, but it did it in a way that poked fun at its own manipulations. This film has fun, and so you have fun with it too.I loved it, wholeheartedly. If it weren't for my total adoration for `Toy Story 3', I'd easily say this was the best animated film of the year. Sadly, it's second banana. |

Not Despicable, Just HorribleI felt this was a very poorly done movie. It is especiallydisappointing to me because when I saw the commercials, I felt it wouldbe a good movie to take my younger sisters to. Unfortunately, everything I found enticing about the story in the commercials isgrossly absent from the movie itself. The characters areunderdeveloped, the humor is base, and the voice acting ishorrible...all brought to you in 3D!! I only laughed once during thewhole film; when it looked like a young girl had been impaled. I'm notsick: that's just how bad the humor was. I rarely say this aboutFamily-friendly movies, but I never want to see this one again. |

Cute and wonderfully inventiveI heard that this movie was very good, and after seeing seeing itmyself, I have to say I heartily concur. While not my favourite film ofthe year, and the film never tries to be that, Despicable Me is cuteand wonderfully inventive. While it could have been a little longer, what made Despicable Me work was a number of things. The animation forstarters is stunning, I liked the colours and character designs but itwas the backgrounds and retro-futurist design that blew me away, whilethe gadgetry is ingenious. The music fits very well with the film and is memorable without beingoverly ambitious or simplistic, the story is ceaselessly inventive andfast paced with a surprisingly clever subplot about the importance offamily. The characters also add a lot, Gru is wonderfully zanyespecially and I found it impossible not to fall in love with hisminions, they are so cute. But my favourite assets of Despicable Me arethe humour and the voice cast. The writing is just excellent, it was sofunny and incredibly smart without feeling too much, while the voicework is exemplary especially from Steve Carell whose brilliant vocalsadd a lot to the film's success.Overall, a truly great film with a lot to like. 9/10 Bethany Cox |

Lightbulb! This review is from: Despicable Me (Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) Absolutely delightful! I started out a bit skeptical but I found the movie to be entertaining and wonderful. My kids, ages 6,4 and 2 love the movie and the extra features that come on the blu ray disk. I would highly recommend this movie as my kids are constantly asking to watch it again. You will love it! |

Despicable MeAbsolutely loved it! I took my 5 year old daughter and my 13 year old son. We all thought it was very funny with a great storyline! It had been a while since I laughed at a children's movie but this one had me laughing out loud!! The perfect balance of entertainment for adults and kids! When it was over I definitely wanted to see it again ASAP and I have not wanted to do that since I was a teenager watching Grease for the first time! : ) I will definitely buy this for my family when it comes out on DVD!!! |

3d testThis review is from: Despicable Me (Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD) (Blu-ray) This movie worked the best yet, viewed from 3.7 feet from asus 24" 3d monitor with 260.99 drivers. The presentation had mostly depth in the movie as is common; However, this one had the most forward projection I've seen in a film yet(comparing to cloudy with meatballs and monstars vs aliens). Its a good story and enjoyable for old as well as young viewers. If you had a 3d tv and you had only 35 dollers to buy a 3d bluray I think this film would be a great starter film. |

The best animated movie of 2010First off, where on earth did Steve Carell pull this performance from?Sure he's great in the office and I really like the guy. But here wehave such a powerful performance from him in voice only that justdoesn't sit well with anything I've seen him in before. He went from afunny guy that you can't help liking to a powerhouse of a performerdragging you by the scruff of the neck into the movie. I loved thevoice he came up with for Gru so much. Everyone else puts in justfaultless performances too. Russell Brand isn't a fave of mine, I avoidmovies he stars in, just not my cup of comedy tea but he's superb here.Even bit parts like the fat Texan? lady that runs the girls home, theperformances were superb. And then we have the animation itself. I'm not sure whether it's thesoftware that just took a technical leap in 2010 or not but theanimation here is just Pixar perfect. You cannot fault it on any level.Everything from the imaginative, colourful set design, the brilliantcharacter designs and the silky smooth emotion rich animation itself,it all just impresses the hell out of me.The story while simplistic enough for younger children to follow, hassuch warmth and heart that you really can't poke holes in it either.I adored this film and fell in love with the minions, the little girlsand Gru. I'd happily have minion plushies on my couch and I'm an oldfart of a guy. I keep saying "It's so fluffy!" to people and they lookat me like I'm mad. I care not, they will eventually learn the linefrom the movie and if not, well there loss.Recommended for anyone who has a heart, a love of animation or justdigs really well made comedies. |

One of the best movies to come out recentlyThis review is from: Despicable Me (Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) (Blu-ray) I love this movie. It's really great for all ages. Very imaginative and the characters are amazing. This set is really cool because it comes with the bluray, regular DVD and the digital copy for your iPod or whatever. Definately worth the money. |

DespicableThis review is from: Despicable Me (Single-Disc Edition) (DVD) I am not a huge fan of this movie. It showed up on the doorstep Christmas Eve so the delivery was awesome. (earlier than stated) DVD in great shape. The case was warped but soon went back to normal shape in the heat of the house. My boys love it so it's great. |

I'm 25 and enjoyed itNot just for kids, this film entertains from its characters' voices to the cutesy yellow, boppy things. There are "maturer" humor elements for adults that will conveniently be over the heads of youngsters (as were in Shrek). I usually don't see animated films and was surprised how engaged I was by this one. |
