Tehnical Director

This review is from: Due Date [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) What can I say. The best part of the movie was already shown in the theater trailers. Not worth the price.

For a road movie, "Due Date" generates hardly any momentum.

Beat my expectations.

This movie gets 5 stars because it totally eclipsed my expectations. I had seen the Hangover and found not funny and dull. I'll leave it at that because this isn't a review of that. I found the acting of Robert Downey Jr to be amazing. He is such a jerk that I don't know how any woman could have married a guy that like. Zach Galifinakis plays such a disgusting human that makes so many mistakes that you are left wondering how he's still alive. And there's the trouble the get in. Yes, it's a little over the top, and highly unbelievable, but it was really funny.Take a chance on this movie. It's not for kids, but it's great for parents' movie night.

This would be passable enough fare for a throwaway comedy had the two stars bothered to bring their A-game.

The Vidiot Reviews...

Due DateThe difference between traveling via airplane as opposed to travelingin a stranger's car is that, when traveling with a stranger, theintrusive pat down is optional.Needles to say, the commuter in this comedy declined on both counts. While trying to make it home for the birth of his child, unrulypassenger Peter (Robert Downey Jr.) is placed on the no fly list.In need of alternate transportation, he accepts a ride from strugglingactor/pothead/nut Ethan (Zach Galifianakis).Forcing Peter to endure hours of bothersome personal questions andstrange driving habits, Ethan eventually wears Peter's resolve down andhe begins to benefit.Peppered with cameos and off-coloured humour, Due Date appears to be aninnocuous comedy, but, in truth, is a mean-spirited mess that containsno relatable characters.Besides, if someone really wants to go on a road trip with a crazystranger, they should ride the Grey Hound. Not good, but not awful.

Ok, I wanted to walk out at some points. It wasn't the worse movie ever, but it really was boring in some parts and the maturbation scene was too much. I just don't get why vulgarity is in EVERY SINGLE movie these days? You'll be watching a fairly decent movie and then out of nowhere it changes into an awkward scene or dialoge that can't help but to make people uncomfortable. The movie did have several funny parts, much of which were in the previews, but I would strongly suggest renting the film and wathing it at home. It's just not good enough to see in theatres or to spend that kind of money on.

the 30 second trailer for the movie is the only thing worth watching

As much as I loved Zach Galifianakis in "The Hangover" I hate to saythat I was totally disappointed with "Due Date." I guess that Hollywoodfigured that if he was the funny guy in a movie like "The Hangover"then he could make even a poorly written comedy like "Due Date"palatable. Nothing could be further than the truth. The storyline isbanal and predictable, and frankly the script is just not that funny. This was so, so obvious during the whole movie. All of the visualcomedy in "The Hangover" simply could not be recreated for this movie, and maybe should just be left alone. As far as Robert Downey, Jr. isconcerned, he didn't help matters. Save your money and go rent "TheHangover" again.

Once again the filmmaker blows his momentum on woeful miscasting and a script that mistakes rampant mean-spiritedness for a bong-sucking good time.

No, not an improve 'on the road' film.

When you sit down to watch a film, you can forgive it is a remake. Youcan forgive if the director chooses to make a film that has alreadybeen made. You can forgive if the gags are 'expected' or in some cases, childish. What you cannot forgive is calling this film a comedy. Yes, there arethose bits that you do laugh at...but in this film they are few and farbetween. The opening, at the airport, sets up a situation not toodissimilar to 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles'.As well as, where are the charming characters? Where is the finesse?Where is the pathos? Do I really care that Ethan Tremblay is…well, exactly what is he? Why is he there? Is he so removed from a realcharacter, unlike 'Del Griffith' (John Candy) in P, T& A that we do notcare if he is…well, odd? We do not feel for Peter or his urgentsituation. What is missing are the need to care for these characters. Which is apity. I wanted to feel for them and the situation, but when theyarrived at Heidi's house, all hope was lost.Watch it. Yes.Hope for miracles. No.

not bad, Not good

All in all, I didn't think that this film was that bad. Certainly itsnot as funny as The Hangover, nor is it Robert Downey Jr's best role, nor is it an intellectual comedy. It is however good fare for theFriday night where you are not doing anything and feel like watching aroad movie for giggles. The 2 are funny together, although Galifianakissteals the show from Downey Jr. Not all of it is funny and it does have this stop-start feel to itwhere it jumps between trying to be funny and failing, and beinghilarious.Don't go out of your way to watch it, but if it happens to be on, don'toverlook it either.

Lost Student

The writer and/or director and/or actors were once students in my school but dropped out in 9th grade due to heavy doses of self love and other drugs. These class comedians who continue to thrive on attention and I'm pleased to see successful at maintaining their narcissistic sense of humor (well, maybe humor to someone) now have a pool and BMW to show for their lack of effort. Oh, and movies of mismatched characters with less than redeeming personalities being fatefully tossed together and ending up better for it has been reduxed endlessly. Nothing new nor funny in this one but nice "borrowing".

Wasted my money

99.9% of the laughs are the ones from the trailer. Only recommend this movie to someone you hate. Only reason it has a D- is because the dog is cute.

Its a rental.

This is a funny movie in parts. I like for movies I go to see at the theater to see to be better. The humor in this movie is very dry and reminds me of a "what about Bob?" type movie.

If you liked The Hangover, see this movie

If you enjoyed Zack's 40 year old weirdo character in "The Hangover",and are looking for a laid back, uncomplicated comedy, this movie isfor you!About 20 minutes in, the chief premise of the movie - two mismatchedstrangers become compelled to travel across the US together - becomesevident. This is where the similarity between "Trains, Planes andAutomobiles" starts and finishes. Due Date was always going to becompared to the Martin / Farley classic but it is in no way a rip-off /remake; they are two very different movies.Robert Downey Jr flawlessly plays the straight man who is attempting torace home to his expecting wife. Zack plays his unique characterdisplayed in The Hangover who is irritating, obscene, and highlyaccident prone.Due Date is not as thoroughly hilarious as The Hangover but is asimilar type of comedy and well worth seeing.

One of the worst movies EVER. Anything with Zach Galifianakis is a

monstrous waste of time. At least Cheech and Chong made stonerssomewhat comical. This guy is just a boring far-too-real stoner type ineverything he does. Can you say fat, disgusting and not the least bitfunny? The movie is a waste of Robert Downey Jr's considerable talents.I suggest you all run!! Run, run, run, fast and far. It's a waste ofyour time and if you paid anything, it's a waste of your money. Andplease.....boycott anything with Zach Galifianakis. He's a horribleactor, and plays the same brainless, boring character, over and overagain.Downey's character isn't as strong as it should be. He's a brilliantactor and this was not the least bit challenging for his talents. AndGalifianakis? What a waste of oxygen!!! He can't act, he can't playanything but a weedhead, and he has zero comedic timing. I mean, hekeeps playing the same brain-dead character over-and-over again. Prettyfriggin' sad.

Great new comedic duo

What an outlandish pairing - Robert "Stick Up Your Butt" Downey Jr. and Zach "Plumber's Crack" Galifianakis - but oh, does it work! Whoever did the casting for this movie was spot on. ALL kinds of bodily fluids, a truly obnoxious dog, Federales, it ain't morning until you've had your coffee, an obnoxious kid but did he deserve that, an awesome car roll, an awesome trailer crash, and on and on and on. Sight gags, sound gags, BROAD humor, truly rank humor - it's got a bit of all of it.The movie truly did remind me of Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Those Aren't Pillows Edition) but that's okay because I loved it, too.

Mr. Galifianakis is good enough to make you almost forget the movie.

This was frigging hilarious

Not everyone is going to like this movie, some people might even get offended by it, but to me its in all good fun. It's just a movie. My boyfriend and i thought this movie was hilarious, we were laughing so hard we almost fell on the floor. If you loved The Hangover, than you will definitely enjoy this movie.
