dumb and dumber was one of the funniest movies of 1995 i say that because this movie had some serious competiton against friday which was also very funny but this movie was just stupid funny (in a good way) jim carrey was at his near best here and jeff daniels was great in this one as well these two are best friend almost considered like brother who both got fired from their jobs because they were both plain stupid one day a girl of jim carrey dreams comes in his life and leaves her briefcase at the airplane thats when he wants to go to aspirn and give the briefcase to his love of his life but before they can do that spent some money on themselve so they could survive unforunately they spent too much money on themselve and forgot the fact that the money was theirs when they realized there was no money left in the brief case they wrote a million i o us to the owner who was jim carrey's favorite woman it was a evil man who tried to kill both jim and jeff but the cops arrested himnd and jeff and jim were safe but still dumber than ever jb

One of the funniest films ever made..

Picking a top ten list of the best comedy films ever made is a lot moredifficult than, say, picking the best Science Fiction films, War films,Westerns, or many other genres. Comedy ain't easy to do. It's tough tosustain a level of hilarity for over an hour and a half, but Dumb and Dumberranks right up there with the best comedies ever put on film. It isconsistantly hilarious from beginning to end. A non-stop romp "buddy" filmin which just as you think it couldn't possibly get any more absurd, itdoes.Asked my favorite comedy of all time, it'd still probably be Planes, Trainsand Automobiles, oddly enough, another buddy film. Dumb and Dumber would bein my top three. Why? Well, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are simply superb. Carrey has built his entire career on portraying rubber-faced idiots. Daniels, however, has a much more eclectic body of work, but as an idiot,this is absolutely his finest hour. This film is rude, crude, obnoxious, loud, uproarious, and if you don't findyourself with tears of laughter streaming down your face at some point, thenyou're probably either unconscious or asleep. Daniels graces us with what is the single best toilet scene ever put tofilm. In the grand scheme of things, that may not be saying a lot, butcompare it to other similar scenes like the one in "American Pie" or thefarting scene in "Blazing Saddles" and you'll get what I'm talking about. If his experience after unknowingly gulping down a bottle of "Turbo Lax"doesn't have you howling, then there's something seriously wrong withyou.A very very VERY funny film. One of the best comedies of all time. Highlyrecommended. Twelve thumbs up.

Cane Whip

If you are stressed out and just want to laugh at something totally ridiculous or just need a laugh period, this is the movie for you. The Farrelly brothers once again produce a comedy that is something unfamiliar from the norm and quite hysterical in my opinion. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels produce a rememberable relationship that just seems to fit. As the two go on a cross country road journey to return a briefcase to a woman that Lloyd is deeply attracted to, they lack something extremely important, which we all know is common sense. Carrey and Daniels team well together as they feed off of one another as the comedy runs wild throughout this movie. For instance Carrey is walking into a fundraiser and as he is entering the doorway Daniels comes up behind and takes a walking cane and just whips Carrey in the back of the legs and drops him right to his knees and then laughs about it(good scene).Another great thing about this movie is that they don't have to use vulgar language over and over again to make it funny they just use simple comedy and timing to make an audience roll in their seats. Watching Carrey and Daniels mannerisms during a scene is enough to make your gut hurt even without them saying anything. Especially Jim Carrey who has always made us laugh with the way he twist and turns his facial expressions into something completely raw that it's funny.This movie still makes me laugh today just as hard as I did when it first came out. Highly recommend giving it a chance to get a few laughs.

Gut Buster

After seeing most of Carrey's comedies, I still say this is definitely hisfinest hour. Dumb and Dumber captured everything disgusting and purile thatgets you right there, you know where. And, it keeps you off your seat.This is not high brow comedy, but it is the kind that gives sequels a hardrun for the money. I highly recommend this for anyone who is as freely analexpulsive as one of the characters in the movie. Go watch it!

Kick ass funny!

The film opens with Lloyd Christmas driving a pretty women named MarySwanson to the airport. It was love at first sight. Lloyd is very dumb,andwhen he sees that Mary left her suitcase full of ransom money at theairport. He runs,and takes it. He talks his best friend Harry to drivinghimto Aspen to return the suitcase. The movie is full of great laughs. Thoughmost of them have to do with Lloyd,and Harry's dumbness. They still pack apunch. Very fun! Check it out if you are in the mood for a goodlaugh.3.5/4

Funny For A While

This is one of those films you can watch, and actually laugh at for atime or two, but after that, it's just not funny anymore.For a first viewing, this flick will deliver some genuine belly laughs,although you will feel your intelligence slip, as you enjoy it. Watchthis one only for the chuckles. If you watch it for any other reason,you're watching the wrong movie.One of Carrey's better performances. His earlier works are far better,comedically, than are his later works. I like the genre change he seemsto be experimenting with of late, and I hope it does something torejuvenate the quality of his performances. Either way, this is quiteentertaining, if only for a few run-throughs.It rates a 5.5/10 from...the Fiend :.

Very funny

This is my first comment here. My favourite comedy films includeRevenge of the Nerds, Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber.In 1994 when this came out, I was a 21 yo. I loved Dumb and Dumberpretty much from the start and have seen it on video and DVD more timesthan I've had hot dinners. At one stage I could say pretty much all thelines. But it's been a while now.What can I say? It's a classic. I wish Jim Carrey had have kept doingmovies like these. That's where his real talent is. Not in bad filmslike The Truman Show.Plenty of people don't like this film or these kinds of films, but thenagain a lot of people...even smart people really like watching loserslike Harry and Lloyd bumble around. I love characters in films who arecomplete morons but who don't really fully recognise it themselves. Killer boots man!

It'll make your sides ache

This movie is down-right hilarious! It's complete off-the-wall comedy that will keep you laughing from beginning to end. Everything from slap-stick to toliet humor is used in this outrageous Farrelly Brothers movie. That's right, Farrelly Brothers, the guys who brought you "There's Something About Mary" and now "Me, Myself, & Irene." Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey both put on an excellent performance as the idiotic Harry and Llyod. Basically, if you want a no-brainer comedy full of belly laughs, Dumb & Dumber is for you!

I am not a big fan of the 5-star review, but...

This review is from: Dumb and Dumber (DVD) I had to give it to this movie because... well... I can't find enough fault to knock off a star! Seriously, though, while the movie does have a bit of scatological humor (which usually annoys me- see Austin Powers 2) overall it is just stupid fun. Carrey is good as (Dumb? Dumber?) but Daniels was the one who impressed me- he is such a good "respectable" actor in other movies- it was shocking to see him play dumb so well. The plot of the movie works because it is easy to believe that these two guys are just *that* stupid. And it has some of the funniest lines in recent memory- lines that my friends and I use all the time. I mean, you doesn't enjoy asking the waitress, "What's the soup du jour?"

Dumb and Dumber is pretty much about two idiots who do stupid thingsevery day. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are perfect in their roles asFloyd and Harry. Both are obnoxious and crude, but they are also uniquein the different types of humor they deliver. Jim Carrey, as in all ofhis movies, is the energizer bunny of weird noises and facialexpressions. Jeff Daniels is the one who delivers the hysterical sightgags and one-liners.This is definitely not a comedy for everyone. Many people call thismovie stupid. It is stupid. But it is so stupid that it is funny likeThe Simpsons. I have to admit though that nothing can beat the comicgenius of The Simpsons. However, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are thecomic masters of Dumb and Dumber. No one else could make the charactersthey built. 7/10

Very dumb,but also funny.

This movie is a no-brainer and is all about dumb humor.The two main characters Harry and Lloyd is played by Jeff Daniels and JimCarrey.They do a good job looking stupid and playing stupid.The movie has many comedic highlights that will make you laugh for a longtime.The story is very weak,but most comedies are.I enjoyed it very much the first time i saw it and also the secondtime.But after having seen it many times,it starts to get boring and only fewhighlights will make you laugh.Really good as a silly/stupid comedy,but nothing else.

Hilarious!

The bottom line is: either you like this type humor or you don't. Personally, I love it! When I saw this in the theatre in early 1995 I couldn't stop laughing... as I can't now. That's just how I react to this type of humor. I think Jim Carrey is incredibly funny, great facial expressions, funny lines & fantastic delivery. Jeff Daniels laugh just cracks me up. There are great one liners that I find myself saying still. It's just a funny movie... IF! If you like other movies like "Me, Myself & Irene", "There's something about Mary", "Airplane", all of the "Naked Gun" movies, "Baseketball"... If you don't like those type movies - don't bother - you won't like this either. And don't write a bad review about it. Just accept that you don't like it & be more productive with something you DO like. But for those of you who like that type of humor - your gonna love this. A few scenes still bring me to tears with laughter. Like i said - either you like this type humor or you don't.

Simply the Funniest "Adolescent" Humorous Movie Ever Made!

Jim Carrey is a comedic genius. His facial expressions, his physical comedy, and his irreverence all combine to make him one of the funniest comic movie actors today. He absolutely shines in this movie about two dolt-heads who make their way across country to deliver a suitcase full of money to the woman that misplaced it (Lauren Holly). With their penchant for getting into trouble, the boys accidently stumble into some bad dudes who want to kill them for the suitcase of money. It is a laugh a minute until the movie ends. Carrey's partner in comedy is Jeff Daniels, and he matches Carry nearly scene for scene. The two together are fantasticly funny. There are too many scenes to mention where they had me bend over laughing. The jokes come about every second minute, so if one does not get your funny bone, another zinger is on its way. There is so much to laugh at in this movie that your stomach muscles will get a good workout! Whenever I need a lift in spirit, this is the movie that does it for me. If you like Carrey and funny movies, then this is your ticket to happiness! Highly recommended!!!Jim "Konedog" Koenig
