Is this the Final Destination?First of all, we can reveal that Final Destination 5 IS the FinalDestination instalment in the series which has brought "DeathExperiences" to the forefront of many people's lives, especially wherethe sunbeds, plane journeys and motorway examples are concerned.Leaving the very best until last, the instalment brings youface-to-face with the horrific tragedies that result in cheating death– and as William Bludworth points out "Nobody escapes death – becauseDeath has a design which is not only flawless, but is imprinted on agreater design.Starting the last instalment off with the introduction of thecharacter's, Sam, Molly, Peter, Candice, Olivia, Isaac, Nathan, Dennis,Roy, Jon and Cho, it is worth knowing that only eight out of the totalnumber of passengers on the bus survive the awesome and yet terrifyingconsequences of Chaos and Fate; the coined phrase 'Being in the wrongplace at the wrong time' comes to mind. All the same, the leadcharacter – as in all the past films – has a vision before the calamityand in their wisdom pre-warns everyone on the bus. And, like previousinstalments there are those that listen, while there are also those(probably amateur actor's looking for a big break) who don't want tolisten to the crazy ranting's of those who didn't want to go on the"Retreat Trip" in the first place. As soon as the bus pulls up onto the suspension bridge, it is at thispoint the film really starts to tickle those senses which bring usfear, terror and a sudden ability for our bladders to work bythemselves. The special effects alone bring us up close and personal tothe real gore horror of some ways in which we could die during such adisaster; impalement's, scolding's, crushing's, slices and dicing's, itis Final Destination that seems to have the angle on the varieddifferences. As well as the great onslaught of horrifying carnage ofthe suspension bridge, there is, of course, the matter of the eightsurvivors who must now dodge the lurking pit-falls of death and somehowescape their demise completely.Personally speaking, the weak and similar attributes brought to us inFinal Destination 3, has certainly been tweaked and better tweaked inthe final episode. The characters are strong in their acting, the plotis smooth as well as well balanced and the 'Love to Hate' combo's insome of the characters who are arrogant to the fact that death isfollowing them is eventually paid in full by the great death scenesthat they endure – Dennis and Isaac in particular. For those who have been following the franchise, which has had one hellof a great run, Final Destination 5 will certainly not disappoint inthe areas that truly matter. As for anyone who has never seen anepisode (Yes, any more than two movies constitutes an episode run offilms), then this finale will definitely have them reaching for theothers, too. Laden with awesome visual effects that will perturb, scareand terrify even the hardest amongst us, the final twist will haveeveryone gasping in awe and raising the roof with sighs of respectableapplause that now the story lines and hard work have come to an end.DVD Archive Rating: 9/10 |

More of the first movies, but still not quite enough...I tried to keep my expectations low on this one, even though that waspretty tough, since I hated the 4th movie and people keep saying thisone was way better. And no doubt it is. At some points I actually sat speech- andbreathless and had that old classic FD-feeling I had when I watched thefirst 3. The deaths were better, the acting was better, the characterdevelopment was better. There was only two things I wasn't satisfiedwith. Although the 4th one was a massive fail, they oddly enoughdecided to keep a little humor in the deaths etc. as they did in the4th one; which I just, in my opinion, stupid. I still don't get it? Whydo they build up a perfect and scary death-scene and end it of withsilly humor? Well, this still get 7/10 cause I enjoyed it although ithad some elements from the 4th. The last thing I didn't really like wasthe CGI-effects, mostly the blood, and why this one also needed to bein 3D. I hate movies were they just over-uses that 3D effect it kind ofruin the movie. But because I was entertained, I felt classic-FD-moments, and the storyand twist were great, I'll give this 7/10. |

Watched it in 2d and it was still good fun.I saw this movie expecting nothing from it and after dismissing the badacting, the tom cruise lookalike and the completely predictable script Ihave to say i really enjoyed it, it was good fun and what you'd expectfrom an installment of the final destination series. Was i scared? No!Did I have good fun watching this, yes i did!! I would definitely saythis movie is better to watch this with a glass of wine. Thats all Ihave to say, IMDb is killing me with this ten line thing so how muchmore am i going to have to say to make ten lines, i think I'm nearlythere, oh yes i just entered line nine so right after this i am goinginto line ten oh thats right Im here, Jesus what ever happened toconcise reviews, this ten line minimum thing is a bit nonsensical. |

Fifth time's the charm, right?By now, we the viewers should all know the formula: kid has apremonition of a horrible accident, warns others about the impendingdoom, seconds later said tragedy does actually happen, and then thesurvivors start dying in horrible Rube Goldberg-style accidentsmanufactured by Death itself."Final Destination 5," directed earlier this year by Steven Quale, isno different from its predecessors. One thing about "Final Destination5" is that it is a significant improvement over its 2009 predecessor,"The Final Destination" (the fourth film in the series, in case youdidn't already know). However, one element that "Final Destination 5"has gotten right is the macabre sense of humor that Death has instalking Its victims, and the darkly macabre humor arising from theentire set-up itself; this sense of humor has pervaded the series fromthe get-go. (Who knew that Death was such a funny character, toyingwith the lives of Its victims and making them think that they couldescape Its clutches?)This is where screenwriter Eric Heisserer really shines. He sees theutter preposterousness in this series for what it all really is andruns with it, although this darkly macabre humor never ventures intofull-blown camp territory. "Final Destination" (2000) more or lessplayed it straight and was a genuinely frightening horror picture whenit needed to be, but "Final Destination 2" is where the humor wasstarting to become more apparent as it went for pure shock value in itsgory special effects sequences. One thing that "The Final Destination" did right two years ago is thefact that its humor was starting to become more and more apparent;finally, the series was getting it right. "Final Destination 5" alsocontinues the mix of dark humor and gruesome gore. Another element thatreturns to this series are fully developed and believable characters, something else that hasn't really been seen in full effect since thefirst movie. We believe in some of the characters and attempts are madefor real acting performances and dramatics. But let's not kid ourselves here: they're all on Death's hit list, solet's not get too attached to everybody.Although "Final Destination 5" (supposedly) brings this series to aclose, I wouldn't really count on it: as long as there are teenagers(or if you prefer, "young people") out there, there will always be amarket for Death to come and slaughter the lot of them in increasinglyshocking and gruesome ways.8/10 |

Everyone share common destination - Can't escape from deatheven you try and change it…. A sequel tries to give viewers drama, escape, and sequential disasters...For keeping freshness of the franchise after 4 sequels, scores 6 out of10, disasters choreographed with fine details by director Steven Quale. The message here is life is short, live up…can't change the destiny, blended nicely with the sound track "Dust in the wind", all we are dustin the wind…. The plot opens with "office picnic" with bunch of youngworkers; they face off with bridge collapse…Some fall into destiny andsome avoid to know only they will by killed again, more slower, morestomach churning, disgusting way in same order of premonition.Recommended to view with friends in theaters and follow it up with somesports or fun… |

Nice oneAfter the shameful release of "The Final Destination", many would feelthis franchise is over-- including me. "Final Destination 5" is a movievery similar to the first one, sometimes looking like a remake of that. The cast is very professional, with exception of Emma Bell, sincesometimes she seemed to overact in this picture. The deaths aren'trecycled from any other final destination movie, they are all fresh. Also, they are extremely agonizing and painful to watch, sometimesremembering movies from "Saw"'s franchise. The deaths aren't onlyterrifying-- they are also sad. I felt they could've turned this filminto a drama, since it's full of sad and emotional scenes. Steven Qualeproves to be a strong director, making a good mix between horror, mystery and even drama, which is rare nowadays-- most of them just wantto be trash and that's all. All in all, "Final Destination 5" is maybea new life to this so criticized franchise-- that I hope to go on. |

Nothing We Haven't Seen 4 Times Already"Final Destination 5" A Movie Review By Nick Iacobucci No matter whereyou go, no matter where you hide…you can't cheat death. Hello there toeverybody in cyberspace I am movie critic Nick Iacobucci here as alwaysfor ReelScreenReviews.com, and our film review this time around is thenext chapter of the successful horror franchise "Final Destination 5".This movie opened on Friday August 12th, 2011, and it features EmmaBell, Miles Fisher, Nicholas D'Agosto, and Courtney B. Vance. This"Final Destination" adventure comes to us from director Steve Quale, the co-director of "Aliens of the Deep" with James Cameron, and the TVmovie "Superfire" from 2002. This time around Mr. Quale attempts tobring something to a franchise that I believe seems to supplyabsolutely nothing. Now the first Final Destination movie was actually a pretty good horrormovie with a decent plot line. The main character in each movie has apremonition of a catastrophic event moments before it happens. He orshe then convinces a small group of people to follow and because ofthis, these characters wind up escaping death. As the film progressesyou find out that they will all be killed in the order that they weresupposed to in the opening tragedy. Why, because you can't cheat death.Well people this time around the only thing that has changed is thecatastrophe that occurs at the beginning of this film. At the start ofthis 3-D adventure our disaster takes down a suspension bridge in thenormal gruesome and bloody fashion. People fall to their demise andmeet death in the most interesting of ways, but once again this is justthe same old tale. One big question would be how did we ever get to part 5 in this series?Well to answer that question you would have to understand thatHollywood and studio films are part of a business first andartistically important second. The previous "Final Destination" filmwas one of the most lucrative and successful in the series, and justlike the comparable "Saw" franchise, it seems to have incorporated the3-D effects for no other reason than to sugarcoat a franchise gonestale. I believe that the filmmakers knew that these stories ran out ofgas a couple of movies ago, but lucky for us they continue to churnthese babies out one after the next. Now gymnastics, fire & explosions, acupuncture, falling from a window, machine shop accidents, and LASIK surgery stand in for the creativebereavements that we encounter in this feature. Now these are all seenin the trailer and once again the same old stuff, however this newFinal Destination adds 1 new plot twist. If you are the target ofdeath, and you can deliver another to death's door, well then you willbe spared. Now if you think about it, our characters must now becomemurderers in order to survive, and just how are we supposed tosympathize with that? Then Tony Todd shows up as almost a visualnarrator. He appears out of nowhere and shows up for no other purposethan to explain everything that is going on to anyone that hasn't seenthe last 4 films. And then I just can't believe that Courtney B. Vanceis even in this project. Not the actor, but the man himself is just sosmart, and radiates such intelligence; he is completely out of place inthis movie. The "Final Destination" movies are anything but quality projectsanymore, and even for the horror genre this is just substandard. Theonly way that this wouldn't be a complete waste of time for somebody isif you were 16 years old and sneaking into your first "R" rated movie. If you have seen the previous "Final Destination" films then you havealready seen this one, and if you haven't seen the previous "FinalDestination" films then I envy you immensely. When I see a movie like "Piranha 3-D" the filmmakers out and out goright for the movie cheese, Limburger actually in that case. Howeverthis like the previous installments there are moments when the directoractually tries to incorporate drama into the project, and to that Ianswer…are you kidding me or what? At just under 90 minutes "FinalDestination 5" is everything you can expect, with absolutely nosurprises, fun, or even talent along the way. If you have enjoyed thefilms in this franchise then God help you, but you will most likely beentertained by this one as well. My view is that if you are going tobring almost nothing to the big screen in the first place…then why evenmake the movie at all? 1 star out of 4. And thank you for yourattention. |

Need Hot ChicksI grew up on the Final Destination series, I was 15 when the first onecame out and I haven't missed any of them. My biggest problem with thelast one is that I didn't find the chicks that hot. It's afranchise—can't they find 3-4 girls that are hot? That's my biggestcomplaint about the movie, need hotter chicks. Otherwise, they did thesame thing over again, like they do every one of them, the wholeanticipation and it's never the way you think they're going to die. I'mnot complaining about that, I really like that stuff. Six of us wentand we had a great time. It's almost comical all the anticipation ofwaiting for something bad to happen, especially the gymnast girl withthe screw on the plank she was walking on, we were laughing so much. Not laughing as in it was bad, but laughing along with it, almost likea half-fun, half-nervous edge of your seat laugh. We all really enjoyedit, although the story did kind of fall apart at the end a little. Wascool that they took it back to May 2000 when it all started, but theend—from the part when the Tom Cruise looking guy shows up with the gunat the restaurant to the end—seemed like it was a little off. I thinkthey've done enough of them now, it's time to stop, but I'm glad theydid # 5. |

did post before?did any of you find it kind of annoying cheesy a lot of the acting was?especially between the boyfriend and girlfriend part. the gore in itwas pretty well done, and everything looked real. but i just thoughtthe acting was a little off. and i hate when they use 30 year old toplay high school students or early college. a lot of them looked a lotolder then what they were played out to be. the acting is what got methe most annoyed, is how bad they were at it. just showing emotion itseemed so fake, and how he came to her house in the rain with anumbrella and shes like "hold on" as shes 2 feet away from the door.haha i don't know guess its just me venting. it was a pretty cool moviethough i suppose. |

Product of a Single Creative Mind (Similar to previous four)"Final Destination 5" (2011) by Steven Quale is one of those raremovies where the title itself is a spoiler. Yes, everyone in the moviedies, except for Coroner Bludworth. But you knew that because of theprevious four films. Since Quale's single mind is directing this movie,it is very similar to the previous four films. The increasinglychallenging task for the filmmakers is to devise ever more horrible andgruesome methods for them to be slaughtered. After watching all fourparts, you can already tell the style, technique and philosophy of thefilm. In other words, you can predict the next scene. Death has a new twist in the Fifth installment of the Final Destinationseries. Each new movie in the series has a different way it worksthrough the order or a different twist on how to escape it, with theoverall theme that escape is always merely temporary. In thisinstallment, thing start off the same - the main character has apremonition of his death in a large scale tragic accident that killsdozens of people, but because he has the premonition, he is able tosave a few people. But like the other movies, surviving the tragedy isonly the beginning as the main plot of the movie is for them to attemptto escape death as it stalks them. The undertaker from previous filmsmakes another appearance in this installment and gives some insightinto the new twist. This time for the survivors to escape death, they must trade placeswith somebody else, allowing death to take somebody else in their placeand allowing the survivor to supposedly become the recipient of whatwould have been the newly departed's remaining years. But now that it'skill or be killed, the survivors have to go to whole other level fromthe previous four movies if they want to escape death's iron grip uponthem. If you enjoyed the previous four films of the franchise, you willmost likely enjoy this one as well. For those of you who have not seenthe previous four films in the franchise, the plot and the charactersare mutually exclusive, so you don't necessarily have to worry aboutwatching all of the films in order. You aren't going to be lost if youdecide to jump into the franchise with the fifth film first. Overall, this movie was predictable. While I was watching this, I wastelling my friend who is going to die next and what not. It's alwaysthat same order that they die in main character's vision. All theincidents are very creative but not realistic and the deaths portrayedare extremely graphic. For being able to watch this movie in 3D makesit incredible. If you're a big fan of Final Destination then Irecommend you to watch this if you haven't yet. |

back to the beginningThe Final Destination or part 4 should have been the last entry intothe franchise but the success made money go around to create part 5.And this time it was okay. No 3D that led to shots made towards the 3Deffect. It was also Steven Quale's first attempt to make his first fullfeature. But he clearly knew his stuff from being second unit directorat Avatar and Titanic.Final Destination is, you can't deny it, just made for the killings, all the stories are the same and here is no exception. But what a greatopening sequence at a bridge. It's naturally full of CGI but this timeit didn't bother me at all because it worked and the death worked thistime on two parts, the CGI killings were believable and Tony Todd wasback in business. I found the story a bit weak but as I said, that's abit normal for Final Destination but the end sequence is again of greatCGI quality. And it takes us back to Final Destination part 1. Rememberthe vision of a plane crash and the fight on board of the air plane, well it all comes back here. On the other hand the end credits made acompilation of almost all the killings in the franchise and makes it agory ending. Emma Bell did well here (Frozen, Hatchet 2) as did the other becausethere are other thespians from the horror scene. Just look at the deadof the gymnastic, that really had some suspense.Overall a typical Final Destination flick with some great death scene'sand good use of CGI and even some funny parts with the death of OliviaCastle (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Piranha 3DD)) once she loses her eyeand a car drives by.Gore 3/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 4/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 1/5 |

Fantastic-gruesome and GoryFirst of all if you are scream, don,t bother seeing this. Am gonna keepit simple, just thinking about the film itself and what to write makesmy mouth water to watch it again. For the (3rd time), thats right seenit twice in the cinema already with my dark shades on. A MUST IN 3D andthe best horror movie of 2011. The best in series hands down, go see ityou WILL LOVE IT. First 20 mins alone are worth the ticket price andall the laughs and amazing end will make you beg for more DEATH. Theacting is good enough and for was perfect for this type. Emma Bell andJacqueline MacInnes Wood are the scene stealer, Jac also looks stunningand is a very sexy for the lads(men) to drawl over. The story in thetrailer doesn't do this film an justice. Best Gore film since Saw 3Dmade me sick. |

It has just a little bit improvement from the last one, but it's in the same bin with the last oneAll right, I didn't have any high hopes or expectations before seeingthis movie. After I did that, my expectations were even on the lowerlevel. First, I will start from the acting, which is very bad. When we talkingabout it, just Jacqueline MacInnes Wood did very good job. She reallygot in the role of Olivia Castle and i just didn't want for her to dievery soon, which again didn't happened. She presented fear very welland was open-minded person. Beside her can stand Courtney B. Vance,Tony Todd and Arlen Escarpeta with weaker performances. I was let downby acting of Miles Fisher, Nicholas D'Agosto and Emma Bell. The opening disaster was nothing great. Disaster from the second wasjust great. So, from that I wanted more, but I was cheated, apparently. The story is the same, and there is no change in it, but my big problemwith movie is that characters of Emma Bell and Nicholas D'Agosto neverreally tried to help any others survivors except Olivia. They wereselfish and really didn't care, at least they didn't convince me thatthey were sorry and they ever cared about anything and anyone. Deaths were just average, but again too much gory for prequel thing. 3Deffects were very good, but that can't made better movie, far fromthat. Without them, this movie is just on pair with it's predecessor. And there is a "shocking" end. There is just nothing clever in it. Theend of this one is the beginning of the first, which means that everyfatal events comes two days after the other fatal event and in thecircle. And, in the fourth part we found out that there were just fewfatal accidents (from previous movies) that involved people withvisions. And the whole town and things are just so much modern for2000. My sister bought cell-phone like Olivia's two months ago.Bludworth said that he saw the same situation with survivors from somecreepy and big accident before and this is a prequel. Even if thishappened before, it's just don\t make sense, because this accidentsshould be rare in the world. Just few people can see them coming andmanage to crush down Death's plans. Alex went crazy about premonitionlike Sam two days ago. That's no weird for nobody in that town, justfor Molly and Sam? Really?! Just two many plot-holes in two minutes,it's too much. Overall: Trailer is great, but movie is just... eh. On pair with thefourth part. No enough scares, again cheap trills with Ellen Wroe'sfinal scene, but nothing new and fresh. My rating: 4.8/10 |

Better than the previous two, still...OK. So I'm a fan of the saga and this movie was by no means adisappointment. The intro prediction was the second best of the saga(there's still to exist other FD that can top the intro of the secondmovie!), and the FX were really credible. The amount of gore andsuspense were just about right, not too much so it didn't seem a Bmovie gore film but the enough to "entertain". Now the down parts.First of all (and its something that its present on all movies) -> theacting. Very poor, with equal poor actor\actress... But i got over itby the third movie so I didn't get surprised by the new casting. Also,I'm not American (as you can tell by my poor English) so I couldn'tunderstand what the hell "Presage" was... It was a office, full ofkids, where one worked as a chef, and one in the factory right next tothe offices...? Please somebody explain that part. **SPOILER** A good surprise was the presence of the first movieinteracted with this one... I liked it a lot! But tell me something: IfMolly wasn't supposed to die...why did she? |

A Fun Roller Coaster Gore-fest! Must see in 3D!"No matter where you run, no matter where you hide you can't cheat death. Or can you?" Final Destination 5 brings the franchise to an end with an over the top, roller coaster ride of an experience. Did they save the best for last or should the franchise have died a long time ago?STORYOn a clear sunny morning, Sam and a group of his co-workers from a paper plant assemble to attend a corporate retreat. They jump on a chartered bus and head off for the weekend. While stopped in traffic on a bridge, something goes horribly wrong. The suspension bridge that is under construction starts to crumble and collapse. What comes next are some of the most violent death sequences imaginable. But wait was it a dream? Sam wakes up on the bus and notices that things he just imagined are starting to really happen. He yells at everyone to get off the bus and run like hell. Just then the bridge cables snap and the concrete shatters. Sam's vision is coming true. Thankfully he was able to save the majority of his friends or the "Lucky 8″ as the local news calls them. But the peril is not over for Sam and his friends. One by one the "Lucky 8″ start dying in horrific accidents. At every incident, a dark ominous figure lurks in the shadows. When questioned, the man tells the survivors that they were suppose to die on the bridge and that Death is coming for them to balance the equation. However if they can be replaced by the death of another, then Death will spare them and they will take on the that person's lifespan. A few of the survivors heed the words of the stranger and decide that in order to live they have to kill someone to take their place.OVERVIEWLet's face it if you have seen any of the Final Destination movies, you already know what this movie is about and what happens. Lets face it, the plot is pretty thin. The movie really is just a series of grotesque, bloody, crazy, far fetched death scenes. The acting is pretty shallow and the dialog is corny. With that being said, it is a fun ass movie! I never went Oh and Ah so many times in a theater. Imagine watching a train hit a semi truck full of cows. That is what Final Destination 5 is all about. Every one in the audience roared, cheered, and even laughed at how fantastical people were killed. When you see this movie your jaw will drop and you will squirm in your seat. The cast is headed by Nicholas D'Agosto as Sam the guy who sees the vision. Emma Bell plays Sam's girlfriend, Molly. And Miles Fisher as Peter, Sam's friend and boss. The rest of the ensemble cast plays the stereotypical horror film roles: The cute athletic girl, the goth slutty chick, the horny Jewish guy, the token black guy, and the asshole corporate boss. The biggest star of the show was a cameo by "Candyman" himself, Tony Todd. Todd plays the bearer of bad news to the survivors. The film was directed by Steven Quale which marks his feature film debut. He has worked visual effects with James Cameron on Terminator 2, The Abyss, Titanic and Avatar. His expertise with those movies is what make Final Destination 5 so insanely crazy to watch. What I really liked was the magic trick he played with the audience. He would distract you with what you thought was going to kill the characters and before you knew it, something else jumps in and throws off your instincts. He kept the audience guessing.I am not a big proponent of 3D. Most audiences today hate the higher ticket prices just to watch a darker, less colorful version. Very few movies does the technology work. Final Destination 5 is one of those movies you absolutely, positively have to see in 3D to truly appreciate the full effect. The movie starts off with 5 minutes of in your face visuals during the opening credits. Objects involved in the deaths of previous characters is thrown at you in slow motion while they shatter glass. The opening credits set the pace for the film with the over the top visuals that you can only appreciate in 3D.Final Destination 5 is not going to win an Oscar, maybe an MTV Movie Award though. It is filled with so much carnage that the weak of heart better stay home. But that's what we want in a horror/thriller flick. We want to jump in our seats and cringe at the gore. We want to hold onto our significant other's arm and look away at the scary parts. We want to watch in disbelief just as we would a brutal car crash. I am telling you that I had so much fun watching Final Destination 5 that I want you to experience it for yourself. And please see it in 3D. You will not be disappointed.P.S. Pay very close attention in the last scene, especially to what one of the characters is holding in his hand. You'll totally understand what I am talking about when you see it. |

Better than the previous oneSomething about this formula works. There have been so many. This timethe disaster takes place on a bridge and it is quite spectacular. The acting is alright. Nicholas D'Agosto is quite good as the lead.Emma Bell looks a bit too worried throughout. The supporting cast couldhave been more attractive. The ways to die are quite creative but a little too gruesome at timeslike the lasik. But what do you expect for this genre. Didn't like thepart in the restaurant where one of them came after the other 2. Feltcontrived.Liked the way things linked up at the end. Overall better than the lastone. I guess we will see another. |

Well worth the 3D :)Enjoyed this, engaging 3D experience. From start to finish, keeps youon the edge of your seat. The characters were interesting, the actionmoved well and the suspense was steady. I look forward to more sequels.I think these movies are fun and not expected to be much else but thisone really works and I think that's good cause some of them have not. Ithink this one has great special effects to, I recommend it. For eitherfinal destination fans or shock movie fans, go see it. I also highlyrecommend you see it in 3D and not wait to see it on Blu Ray as I don'tthink you will enjoy the same experience I did seeing it in 3D. All inall, a well put together movie and one of the best I have see in 2011. |

Final Destination 5I have just come back from the cinema after watching this film in 3D,and i have to say that it is one of the best horror films that i haveseen this year so far. I wasn't the biggest fan of this franchise, after the third film which i found predictable, and the fourth film wasa pointless film. So going into this film i was expecting the same oldstoryline and characters that made the last two films poor. But I was wrong, Final Destination 5 takes all your expectations fromwatching the previous films in the franchise and uses them in the filmto give an unexpected outcome. The acting is outstanding from all thecast, and the character development is amazing, unlike The FinalDestination (2009), you care about the characters after the initialdisaster. Another great aspect of the film, is the return of the creepycoroner, played by Tony Todd. The 3D was incredible, even my dad who was reluctant in going the seethe film, enjoyed it. Which was a shock to me, he isn't a horror fanand he hated Scream 4, which i loved. The death scenes were unique andinventive, and unlike the fourth film, the 3D was used to great effectin them. And the ending was the best part of the film, which wasanother thing i wasn't expecting. I thought i had seen it all in thisfranchise, but the director did a brilliant job of keeping the filmfresh and unpredictable. I am trying not to give too much away, but to put it in perspective forthe franchise it is the second best film, with the first obviouslybeing The Final Destination (2000). The high rating this film hasreceived, it deserves. It is probably the best 3D horror experience ihave had, i have seen Resident Evil Afterlife, Piranha 3D, Priest, SAW3D and My Bloody Valentine, but none of those films were as good asthis film. I really did enjoy this film and i was highly entertained.Highly recommended if you are fan of the franchise. The Final Destination Franchise Rating: Final Destination (2000) - 10/10 Final Destination 2 (2003) - 8/10Final Destination 3 (2006) - 6/10 The Final Destination (2009) - 1/10Final Destination 5 (2011) - 10/10 |

Worst ending ever? Now let me say firstly that I think this film is vastly superior toboth Final Destination 3 and Final Destination 4. In my opinion FinalDestination 4 was just silly and was almost mocking itself in itsabsurdity so I saw it as the death of the franchise. I was, however, glad to be proved wrong by this sequel. Lets start with the positives:The acting is better and more believable, there is more suspense and itgenerally has a creepier tone. Most of the characters are betterdeveloped and you seem to genuinely know them and want them to survive.Additionally the bridge collapse scene is wonderfully cinematic andshot brilliantly in my opinion. Now no doubt you've heard that this film has a big twist ending. Itdoes. It is a brilliant twist and a great idea but executed so poorlyit caused me physical pain. That is why I don't like this film. DO NOTREAD ON IF YOU DON'T WANT THE TWIST RUINED. Essentially Sam and Mollysurvive the ordeal and are on a flight. A man is seen panicking andshouting he wants to be taken off the plane, when the plane is in theair Sam asks about him and is told he had a vision that the plane wouldcrash. He then looks at his boarding card to see he is on Flight 180.Great twist, it is in fact a prequel and set at the start of FinalDestination 1 and you know they are doomed. Cut to black. Roll credits.Fantastic. NO They have to make a huge cinematic show of it with peoplebeing sucked out of the plane and burning and generally taking all theshock and suspense out of the ending. Then to further ruin a brilliantidea. After their deaths it cuts to Nathan, the only other survivorstanding at a bar, who is then crushed, seemingly to ensure everycharacter dies. His arm flies at the screen for no apparent reason andthe film ends. The ending of this film could have been so shocking and brilliant hadit not been for the crew's stupid desire to shoot a final giant graphicdeath sequence. I honestly saw this as the best twist I had seen sincethe first Saw film but because of how they ruined it I hate this film.So close but so very very far. Disappointed. |

Best Final Destination in series!I will admit, I came into FD5 and expected another disappointment likeTFD and an attempt to make a quick buck on a franchise that makes a lotof money. That was not the case with this one. FD5 showed there isstill hope in the franchise. They didn't try and make us laugh thewhole time like in the 4th one. They made this one very dark, but ofcourse with some black humor that only fans of the series will laughat. And when I watch a final destination movie, I go in expecting thesame plot, but over the top gore and clever kills. And this onefulfilled my expectations. The kills are very clever and timed greatly. You keep thinking that aperson will die a certain way, and then you are wrong because somethingcompletely different will happen. They do that in the first death, which was clever and unexpected, you'll know when you see it. Theeffects are perfect and opening disaster is visually stunning.Gruesome! But awesome! And I did like how we actually cared about thecharacters and they gave us a good story and twist to the plot, wherethey can kill someone else to take their place, that put more room fora better story. And of course the best part of this movie was the crazy shockingending! I won't spoil it for you but you are going to sit there and belike WOW! The ending is hinted several times throughout, but not to apoint where you will be like Oh yeah that is probably what will happen. Its a very shocking ending and not a retarded one like the last one.You have to watch it to see what I am talking about.Overall, great sequel. You have to go in expecting to watch a FinalDestination movie, but you will be very pleased and not disappointed.Best one of the series. |
