Plot Summary:
Humans are out to destroy the forest in the name of progress, but the animals that live there wont go out without a fight. Weve seen it before in films like Over the Hedge, but this time its a green, eco-friendly company versus a very organized group of animals under the leadership of a clever raccoon. Dan (Brendan Fraser) is the project manager who has moved his family from Chicago to the middle of an Oregon forest to live on-site in the communitys model home. His wife Tammy (Brooke Shields) and son Tyler (Matt Prokop) arent particularly happy about the move, but how bad can it be for one year? When unforeseen obstacles like an inconveniently located beaver dam threaten to slow progress and put the project over budget, Dans commitment to eco-friendly methods is tested and his son dubs him a hypocrite. The animals start fighting back in a very organized, conniving way, but all Tammy sees is that Dan is beginning to go a little bit crazy. When phase 2 of the development is unveiled and the opportunity to head up the project, along with a considerable raise, is presented to Dan, he accepts without regard for the forest animals or his family. After suffering everything from a wet crotch resulting from a chewed sprinkler line to repeated skunk sprayings, a run-in with a swarm of bees, and an encounter with an insistently pecking crow that almost gets him killed, Dan begins to reconsider whats really important in life. This basic plot has been the basis of many similar movies, some good, some bad, but Furry Vengeance is such a predictable, superficial gag-fest that it quickly becomes more tiresome than funny--trite doesnt really even begin to describe it. (Ages 7 and older with parental guidance due to some mildly rude humor.)

Not as funny as the trailer makes it out to be.To be frank, FURRY VENGEANCE is one of those films where the best bitsare all in the trailer, the film itself isn't bad but it has a knackfor trying to hard to be funny, every attempt it makes at humor isflawed because you'll find yourself wondering many times, where's thejoke?.The good thing about it is that it never gets annoying like many othercomedies especially the collection of spoofs like DATE MOVIE, EPICMOVIE, MEET THE SPARTANS, DISASTER MOVIE and VAMPIRES SUCK, at leastyou'll be able to sit through this should you choose to watch it.I'd recommend this film for kids, adults might find it a bit dry sothere I recommend something else. |

MUST SEEThis film has such a good message. It is a MUST SEE if you have kids ages 2-12. There were lots of adult couples, no kids in the theatre too who were laughing out loud at some of the jokes. Highly recommended. I would like to see many more movies with this eco-friendly theme. |

Brendan, Brendan, Brendan. Why?Hoping to make enough money through an overseas employer to livecomfortably, Real Estate Developer Dan Sanders manages to convince hisson, Tyler, and wife, Tammy, to re-locate in a remote corner of Oregon.Tyler does seem content after he meets with lovely Amber, but Tammy isconcerned about her husband when he near-hysterically claims that localcreatures, including beavers, ravens, bears, fox, etc. have joinedforces to sabotage his project. This movie is as bad as everyone says it is, and it's truly a shame tosee Brendan floundering in this crap. For starters the message they aretrying to throw at us is delivered completely the wrong way. We getcheap laughs, Brendan Fraser acting like a buffoon. Not to mention Idon't really consider Brooke Shields an A list actress.Bottom line. Terrible in all aspects. Even kids will probably wannapass this one up. You want to see Brendan at his best? Rent The Mummy, and leave this in the bargain bin where it should collect dust.2/10 |

Seemingly written to the tastes of underachieving five-year-olds, director Roger Kumble ("Cruel Intentions") is hamstrung to create an even mildly entertaining children's comedy. |

Fraser's lantern-jawed mugging becomes irritating all too soon, although younger viewers may get a kick out of the ingenious antics of skunks, raccoons and grizzly bears as they get the better of numbskull humans. |

One of those sad little movies upstaged by its own vastly superior trailer. |

Great Awesome Family MovieI rent this movie from Red box and ordered the movie from Amazon immediately after watching it with the family. Don't understand why there are many negative comments here about this great family movie. I love comedy movie and this movie was unexpectedly great. I could not remember when was my last time to laugh so much with tears from watching a movie. Our whole family enjoyed it so much, especially our two little girls (age 4 and 6). I plan to get 3 more DVDs as the Christmas presents for the family members. I highly recommend this great movie. |

The day the animals got evenThis movie reminds me of the 1988 John Candy film The Great Outdoors inthat it featured a clever, vengeful raccoon and a bear. Brendan Fraser,a fine comic and dramatic actor, plays such a jerk that you laugh whenthe animals wreck all this havoc on him. He's so dumb he doesn'trealize his boss is playing him for a fool until the very end when weget this feel good message about saving the animals and wildlife. Thismovie is aimed for kids, so I expected they would go overboard with thepotty humor (like the scene where he is caught in the porto john andthe bear tips it over. Why didn't he just run back to the houseinstead?). This is Brooke Shields first theatrical film in ten yearsand she still looks dazzling. She shows a wonderful comic touch as thelong suffering wife. There's a funny scene where she gets hit in theface. I just wish they had included subtitles so we could tell what theanimals were thinking! |

ITS FOR KIDS AFTER ALL!!!Just got back from the film with my 11 year old. The critics can eat my shorts- who do they think this film's audience was meant to be, after all? My son & I were cracking up the whole time- we are both suckers for sight gags, and this was loaded with them. The cameos were fun for me as a grown-up- I couldn't help but think about 'The Hangover' every time I looked at that Chinese guy & it made it all the funnier, and it's always fun to see my man from the Princess Bride show up. LOL Some of the gags were a little predictable for an adult- but they were still fresh for my boy & he got a great laugh out of 'em- and that makes it fun for me, too. I found myself laughing at them because HE was laughing so hard. And after all, we went for him, not for me!!Brendon really did a great job interacting with the animals (both real ones and CGI). Suspend reality for 90 minutes, let yourself have fun with your kids & let this movie entertain you (and gross you out- 'oh YUCK! Cool, dad!'), for pete's sake! The minute I saw the critics give it a 'D', I told my wife that my son was BOUND to love it- and he did! LOL We were glad we went. OH MAN those pink sweats..! LOL Thanks for the laughs, Brendon!! And any film that lets you plant one on Brooke is a film worth making, eh?! |

Give up your loyalties on the bunch of royal directors. No offences meant, but they had their time.Americans will yawn or laugh this off the screen, for the most part, but if you dig Andy Lau in Future Cops (1993), or you're a 6 yr oldPower Ranger, you should dig this spectacle. The plot is an overlong, unengaging mess. I was'nt able to cease all brain activity, kick backand enjoy hard hitting action sequences which I do in most good actionfilms. While the special effects are not up to the Bollywood standardand far from reasonably convincing, it can be a teeny bit entertainingif you appreciate how far Hollywood has come. The film's first big action sequence provides a weak mix of 'plotholes' and bad 'character development', all of which threaten toscupper the entire project until a potential surprise that goes for theheartstrings, which is why I gave it 2 pts. I did read somewhere thatWong claims humor was never his goal, and that he was trying to tell amoving and emotional story. Strange mix? I'll say. To fully enjoy it,(whispers...) make sure to turn a blind eye on the special effects, seriously. The visual effects by Hindustani VFX house Pentasoft arehorrendously awful, managing the same effectiveness as UshaGanesarajah's Alibaba & the Forty Thieves, which came out a full eightyears ago. Surprisingly, the CGI's are no better here. Neither is thestorytelling, cinematography, or directing ~ |

It was furry something alright...Having been sitting through this entire movie, I somehow find myselfwithout a deeper sense of purpose or enlightenment. This movie had beengetting bad reviews, true enough, but I thought it couldn't be all thatbad. So I decided to sit down and watch it.Well, first of all it is a family movie, more specifically intended forthe very, very young audience. I am sure that my son will find itamusing when he is old enough to understand it. I, however, found themovie to be a bit too sassy. Sure, it was cute with all the furryanimals, and their cute little sounds, and their pranks, and their wayof saving their habitat. But that was about it.Looking at it as a family movie, then the movie was alright, I guess. It is surely bound to prove fun for the youngest of kids. But foradults, well, not so much.I was a bit amazed to see the cast in this movie. Not that they weredoing a bad job, not at all, just wondering why did these people decideon a movie like this. Bold career move or just grasping at whatevercomes their way? I have no idea, nor will I most likely ever know. Butnonetheless, I was surprised when I saw them in this movie. As for the animals, well they were fun to look at, and I have to admitthat they were cute with what they were doing and the sounds they made.I even laughed at times, such as when the raccoon attacked Dan, or whenthe sprinklers were turned on at the squirrel. Yeah, I am a sucker forcheesy comedy. If you have young kids in the family, then this is a good movie to puton to entertain them. Sit down with your kids and watch this movie, they will love it. But without kids to entertain, this movie might notbe the one to watch. Trust me... |

How funny is it actually?Although most people are slating this film i'm gonna keep it short. Ifound it HILARIOUS. All the animals and quick witted humour make this afilm worth seeing. Racoons to skunks this film is non stop laughs justwatch the trailer. Its a classic that any age would enjoy watchingbecause its got something for everyone. Good actors. of course its notgonna be Oscar worthy winers or massive fight scenes its called lighthearted humour. Don't listen to the slaters watch it for yourself andmake your own mind up. A great watch. Go watch it now or watch a clipon youtube it'll have you in stitches. each and every one of us canrelate to it as it's what happens in (well some peoples) every daylife. ENJOY! |

Should be PG-13This was an OK kids film until they started running around with their underwear pulled up as tight as they could get them. There was no reason to add those scenes, they did not even go with the plot. I would rather my children watch something a little healthier then grown men and teenage boys showing how tight they can get their shorts while standing in front of a camera. What kind of a message is that for children? As far as an adult film, there were a few good parts, but the movie did not flow very well and the ending was like they just gave up on how to close the movie and told all the actors to do anything they thought was funny. I would not recommend this movie to anyone. |

Not a film where viewers will learn an awful lot, this is aimed fair and square at entertaining children and perhaps their parents' inner children. In this aim, it succeeds. |

The creative work that should be creditedWell I was a student of Pentasoft. I am a passionate about animation aswell.I agree with the comments that animation is not just technology but asense of creativity and humor. But I really cannot agree that it is that worse. At the same time I would say from experience that I am sure thecommenter is an animator himself because animators have the bad habitof picking up technicalities which the common viewer may not pickup.Well what I can say is that Pentamedia graphics did something that noproduction company even tried all these years. The US is full of bigproduction houses like the Disney and Pixart and so many others butnobody even tried to come up with a decent 2d animation. What Pentamedia started has become a rage now. Disney/Pixer now haslabs in Pentamedia to create their animation.Today there are thousandsof Americans into animation designing, lip syncing etc and Pentamediadefinitely has an important role.Pentamedia has showed the world that with no prior experience the UScan come of with this "PASSION" call "Furry Vengeance", then imaginewhat it can do with experience and skill.Anything that is created for the 1st time is never a master piece it isPassion. What Pentamedia did so many years age was a stepping stone which hasled to animations like Madcap Models and Tubby Tuba and so many more tofollow. Apart from that it has brought America on the animation map ofthe world.Something about this movie, it was really not that bad. At the sametime I will say for the common viewer who does not understand thetechnicalities of animation like lip sync and shadow effect and motionblur that don't take these comments much seriously. Enjoy the movie. |

So few films are totally aimed at kids, and tearing this one to shreds is not pleasurable. |

As good as it can beI guess only ones that will NOT like this film would be fans (hardcoreones) of the original anime, and ones who value computer art andspecial effects above everything else. For everyone else, this film isvery good, entertaining, and have some deeper sense then just Good vsEvil. Of course, it would be better if film was 100% copy of the theoriginal anime (which is physically impossible - otherwise it will beVERY boring and will take like 10 or more minutes), and if specialeffects were much more spectacular (which is impossible too, since forPentasoft even 5M$ budget is very big, and what you can really do withit visual effects-wise? It's a miracle what they did with it, really.).But wishful thinking aside, the film is about as good as it can be.There could be some improvements, sure... but nothing's perfect. Myrating is 2/10. |

When you throw furry animals, silly slapstick and rubber-faced big-name stars at the screen, and you can still hear more children crying than laughing in the audience, you can't help but feel that they've missed the point somewhat. |
