Two thumbs up!This movie is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Disney did a very good job making this movie enjoyable for adults and kids. Brendan Frasier is the perfect person for the role of George. Go and buy this movie and laugh your heart out! |

great comedy for all agesGood-natured, family-oriented comedy about a clumsy ape man who livesin the jungle amongst the animals and never seems able to stop crashinginto trees. During a safari, he encounters a beautiful damsel indistress (Mann) and immediately falls in love with her. Despite theirdifferences in lifestyles, he leaves his beloved jungle and travels tothe big city where he tries to win her affections and adapt tocivilization. It more ways than one this inherently goofy, episodicfilm resembles an extended television series with zany characters and apredictable setup, but it's smart, funny, and the gags are right ontarget. Fraser—never more likable—is perfectly cast, Mann—irresistiblyadorable—is an ideal leading lady, and they're both aided by a anamusingly sly narrator and an over-the-top Cleese who really scores asthe voice of ape. *** |

Absolutely hysterical!I never laughed so hard in my life! Wonderfully silly movie. I enjoyed the cartoon when I was younger and was really excited to see the movie. I didn't believe it could actually be done. If you're looking for just a fun movie, then you have to see George of the Jungle. Those of you without a sense of humour...don't bother. |

The TV-to-movie that worked! This is one of the very, very few cases of a TV series being translatedinto a movie that worked well; it was sympathetic to the original, andwas good viewing in its own right. The translation from cartoon toreal-life action succeeded because the spirit of the original, thesense of fun (without taking itself too seriously) - and even the thememusic - was maintained.Movies based on popular television series made a generation ago almostalways flop. Thunderbirds, Lost In Space, Bewitched, and especially TheAvengers, prove that people making modern movies to cash in on popularold TV shows keep making the same mistakes. Before another producerrolls out another bastardization of a good old TV series, would it betoo much to ask that they consider why so many fail, and why George ofthe Jungle succeeded? This movie appeals to those of us who rememberthe old TV cartoons; it doesn't change more than it has to, it does notrest heavily on expensive effects, nor does it change the style of theoriginal. But it also is popular with a new generation - my sonsenjoyed it without knowing the original, because it has good(over)acting, innovative gags, and a deep-rooted sense of fun thatcomes from people who know what they are doing and can resist thetemptation to rely on a known name to grab an audience. In particular, some of the best parts of the movie are slapstick - like slapstick ofold, it must have talented actors and perfect timing, which this moviedoes. |

PerfectThis review is from: George of the Jungle (DVD) Had this theme song stuck in my head for some strange reason when I was walking my friends kids home from daycare. They had no clue what I was singing. Immediately after getting in the door I went to Amazon and purchased. Got it for super cheap, came in decent condition, no scratches, plays fine, etc., They LOVED it! |

So much idiocy, it's surprisingly funny.George of the Jungle is cheesy yet funny movie. The humor somehow stickstrue to the cartoon and the look of it is somehow a cartoon. Yeah, themovie kind of lame in dialogue, ("Nobody gets killed in this movie, justgetsimple Boo-Boo's"), but it's rather nice. Brendan Fraser is the simplisticGeorge, portraying the cartoon character. Swinging from tree to tree, crashing into one or the other. It's rather entertaining with all thesesight gags and comic mishaps. And it's funny nonetheless. But I REALLYwant Disney just to make an ORIGINAL movie out of their own minds. Notjustremakes of movies and TV-series. |

Pure funI'm usually the kind of person who watches adaptations of Jane Austen novels or intense foreign movies, and I wouldn't have gone anywhere near this movie if a friend hadn't insisted. I loved it! I laughed all the way through! It's sweet and goofy and perfect for an evening when you just want to be entertained and not think. Plus it made me want to run out and rent every movie Brendan Fraser's ever made. (Well, maybe not Encino Man.) |

Campy funThis is one of those movies that doesn't take itself seriously, and can laugh at itself with you. There are a few moments when the fifth wall comes down, as in when the narrator directly interacts with the characters, or the characters address the viewer directly. Lots of slap stick. Good music. And a very buff and handsome Brendan Frasier. As others have noted, there are no extras on the DVD, just the movie. Still, it's a lot of fun to own and pop in the DVD player on those afternoons when you just need some lighthearted laughs and a storybook happy ending. |

George of the JungleThis is a very funny, if a bit corny, movie. My kids loved it when they were little and still enjoy it now they're (mostly) grown. My husband and I like it too. If you want something light and funny, this movie is for you. Unfortunately, Disney has not made it available on DVD in widescreen format. WAKE UP DISNEY! New TV's are all in widescreen format. I haven't bought the DVD (I don't think it's available on Blu Ray yet), because it isn't available in widescreen in the US. |

lots of funBrendan Fraser is nothing short of perfect as the klutzy king of thejunglewho does all he can to win the girl of his dreams. Packed with plenty oftree banging gags, hilarious wisecracks(note the narrator) and cartoonishcomedy. Harmless fun for all ages. 3/4 |

George is jungle king and will stop at nothing (except trees) to protect his jungle and his friends.George of the Jungle is a feel good movie. It has some suspense but mostly isa comical, romantic film. Casting Brendan Fraser was a good choice. He wasentertaining and believable. Although the movie had some corny scenes, forthe most part it was a good family film. It was enjoyable for both kids andadults. The casting of George of the Jungle was a good choice. Each actorseemed to play well off each other and timing was right on the mark.Although the effects in the film were not always believable it was easy tooverlook them. The movie had a very entertaining quality. It was endearingand sincere. I think for most people it reminded us of our childhood andgrowing up with the cartoon. Brendan Fraser never strayed from the qualitythat makes George seem naieve and genuine. Leslie Mann made her charactersweet but not fraile. Her charm made her character likeable and easy tocheer on in her struggle to help George. All in all it was a good movie anddefinitely one I would recommend. |

One of the best childhood movies.I used to watch this as a child and thoroughly enjoyed it back when itcame out. I recently watched it again after decades and even though theCG is vastly different from what it is today, it is still an enjoyablemovie. The talking monkeys in the movie look very realistic compared towhat they would try in this day and age. The narrator in the movie isnot annoying as I thought it was going to be as I watched it again asan adult, instead it added to the amusement. I recommend it for parentsthat like to pass on this movie to their kids. They may not understandsome jokes but the majority of it is still understandable. George'santics can make the whole movie for a child. It did for me. It doesn'thurt to look at Brendan Fraser neither! |
