Great Characters

Greys Anatomy is fantastic because of its characters! The charactersare wonderfully human (both good & bad and all the bits in the middle).I like that we get to see their lives outside of the hospital as itmakes them three dimensional as characters. The patients in Greys Anatomy are always great. I don't know if theirillness's are exactly as they are in the medical books, but I figure ifyou want to see real-life then go work in a hospital. If I had to take a poll on Greys Anatomy or House then I would be splitbecause they are both excellent shows in different ways. House is HughLawrie and he is House - whereas Greys Anatomy has a lot morecharacters to play with.

No show will ever tug at your heart like this one

I will not say anything about the plot since other comments seem tocover that. I got into Grey's Anatomy as to have a topic of discussionwith a girl I liked. I imagined the show would be a decent drama I'dwatch once in a while, and just use it basically as background noisewhile doing homework.Immediately, from the first episode, which was in the third season, Iwas hooked. I continued to watch all throughout the end of the season, and then, used the summer as time to catch up to where I was. This showreally hits every emotion in you, and can make the coldest people cry.I was so surprised to see me laughing out loud at some points, and thennear crying at others, and I really don't cry. This show is the best drama out there, and is a nice change of pacefrom my usual comedies such as the Office and It's Always Sunny inPhiladelphia. If you are like me, and have prior obligations to a showlike the Office, I seriously consider either picking up the dvds orwatching it online. You will not regret it.

Hooray for mediocrity!

Imagine a Medical show where you take out the wit of Scrubs, theexcitement of E.R., and the drama of St. Elsewhere, and you'll start toget the feeling of what this show is all about. From the bland actingof Ellen Pompeo, to the pseudo-indie rock (Portions for Foxes by RiloKiley) that blares through every scene, this show is definitely aimedat the 18-35 year old demographic who happen to have penchants forover-acting and scripts filled with melodrama. I can't get over howeveryone seems to be enthralled with a show that basically comes upwith the worst catchphrases in the world, AND THEN RUNS WITH THEM. Whydoes America tune in every week for a show that makes The O.C. looklike it was written by James Joyce. Mcdreamy? Mcsteamy? Mcgag me.

Is it creepy I love it?

OK, I looooove Grey's Anatomy! Its completely the highlight of my week!Loads of people I know have said that the quality has gone down, andsome people have even stopped watching. I DON'T see how. yes this isjust me, but I Love it sooo much. There hasn't actually been an episodei haven't loved.I have favourites, like the one with the Nurses strike as i findutterly awesome, and great. I also like the bomb one, as it soo sweetand tense and like "ahh!?" Season two personally was my favouriteseason, but i have not seen the series finale of three yet soo whoknows, maybe there will be a new favourite on my list!! I'm not sure if this is consider spoiler, as its like second season, but still, its annoying, as I am English it says things like "it wassoo sad when this person died" and i'm like who?So when they come inI'm like "aww cr*d" So yeah.

This show is a LAME attempt to cross ER with MP !!

This show is so LAME. Why don't they just call this show "Horny PeopleWho are Mainly Always Trying to have Sex with Co-Workers, whilePretending to be Wanna-be Doctors". Guess that title would be too long,eh ? This show was better when it was called MELROSE PLACE !! Quitpretending to be a Hospital drama, and go back to being a cheesy AdAgency or some other "believable" work place setting, where yourcharacters don't really have to pretend to be smart, and deep, andhuman, and caring, and thoughtful, etc etc etc. Just make themENTERTAINING !! This show is trying to be a cross of ER and MELROSEPLACE. It's not working.

Summary of Grey's

When I first started to watch, Grey's Anatomy, it was already in themiddle of the fourth season. I was already confused about all thepeople and their relationships to each other. I quickly learned who iswho and their role on the show. This show is mainly about the pros/consof being a doctor and how hard it is to be an intern at a hospital. Iwould have to agree with most of what Tim Goodman from the SanFrancisco Chronicle has to say in his article. He states, "It's a soapopera set in a hospital that you've seen a hundred times before." It isa huge drama-filled show and I am not a fan of soap operas. MeredithGrey is an intern learning how to become a doctor and, she is also thenarrator of the show. But this show only shows her a fraction of thetime; whereas some of the other characters I think get more air timethan she does in most of the episodes. The show jumps around a lot withdifferent characters and their problems of being a doctor or an intern. It shows a brief crisis then moves on to another person and theirproblems. But, it doesn't stay on a certain person too long then thecamera focuses onto another person and their problems. It may return tothat first person shortly after or it might run on through to the nextepisode. I think the reason they do this is possibly to keep the viewsin suspense or maybe just to annoy other spectators. I do not like thistype of viewing, because at some cases these dramatic scenes can runthrough to the next episode and then if the first episode was notviewed then it could get confusing.I would have to disagree on what Goodman had said about Cristina Yangand her role as a doctor on this show. He said that she is a talentedactress and that it helps that she is (hot). I believe that she is abelow average looking women, and she is not as talented as he praisesher up to be. I think that she needs to do a lot of work with hercharacter and her role as a doctor on the show before I would say sheis a decent actress. She is one of the few on this show that needs somehelp with acting. I think that the person she is dating, Dr. PrestonBurke, is also a horrible actor and that he needs to work on this aswell. He might be the know-it-all in this television show, but I do notbelieve that this helps him any on the acting part. He seems so plainand boring when he is acting for this show. I would have to say that Ithink that the actress playing Isobel Stevens is a very talentedactress. I have seen her work in other films and like them as well. Sheis also good looking which helps tremendously on her part. Not only did I notice the acting on this television show, it is alsoover dramatized. It is basically a soap opera, like what Goodman hadmentioned. They have doctors sleeping with other doctors. Then, onegets pregnant with that doctor, while wanting to start a family withanther doctor. So, they start a big drama fight and that goes in andout for about a season or two-reliving that scene and using it againstthe other doctor to get back at them in an argument. Another dramaticplot is about Meredith, who is not speaking to her father because heleft her mom when she was young. The dad shows up at this hospital, outof all the ones in the U.S., and his daughter in-law is having a child. But, the baby is premature so the child has to be watched and kept inan incubator. Then, the baby has to have a sudden operation for somereason which delays Meredith's father's departure. In the mean time, she has been avoiding him as much as possible to keep from having totalk to him about what has happened in the past. This show is very drama based with many things happening at once.Overall, this is just another hospitalized soap opera but with a kick.Although the show can be interesting and can keep the viewers wonderingand watching, but then; at times it, has major downfalls. The downtimes are when the show is boring and seems like it is not worth thetime on the air.

Started well, now its just more of the same...

My girlfriend insisted, and continued to insist that I watch Grey's.Eventually, I gave in, and loved it. The first two seasons are gold. That's where it ends however, as the third season was simply more ofthe same. That should be good, right? It isn't. Some of the characterswho previously annoyed me a little (notably the protagonist Merideth)have all of a sudden become so unable to establish (and maintain) aproper relationship that their stupidity makes me want to do somethingbad. ...Yes friends, more of the same, more of the same will-they-wont-theyrubbish, which is now rolled out to encompass George and Izzy. (Georgeby the way going from my favourite character to my least favouritewithin season 3). It's not as bad as all that, but I expect more development, which hasnot happened. I think at the base of it all is that I am now bored andannoyed with the entire cast of characters (save the Nazi, who hasremained a rock throughout). Hope this helps in some way

Just my opinion

I absolutely love the series until season 3. When I started watchingseason 4 i was so disappointed and bored that I stopped watching. But Ido know what the 5th and 6th season are about... and it's just not thesame now. Izzie is not Izzie, Meredith is not Meredith, Derek is notDerek, Alex is not Alex, Christina is so not Christina anymore... andwhat should I say about George? He was my favorite character! Oh,and Ireally, really hate all the new characters, including Little Grey...thought she is not all that new. What I miss the most is the happyIzzie.Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens: "That's how men see me. I'm not asmart girl or an interesting girl. I'm a pretty girl. The blonde andthe boobs confuses guys into thinking that I'm someone else. And I'mused to it. I'm used to them walking away when they realize... but thenDenny goes and asks me to marry him" And this.

Best Show on TV

From the very first time I happened on Greys Anatomy, I Loved It, LoveIt. I told every to watch it. I tried to describe it to my son who isan actor, attend second city in Chicago, He did not like medical stuff,Now he is telling me it is the Best TV show!!. Hope fully he can nowappear on the show, since he was Borned in London, he could be avisiting consultant or somebody's Love interest, It is all about therelationships, rather than the medicine, I wonder if they are lookingfor a Nannie for Dr. Baileys Baby, I would be just that person, AmJamaican by Birth, but A British citizen, who went to school/college inEngland, with a social workers/child care background. So how about itMiss Shonda Rhymes?. Give a Sister a break, even though am over 50years old. am very young at heart, and can be great fun. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Grey's what?

Grey's anatomy can be described with one word, GARBAGE. It's supposedto be this engaging and good show about the lives of employees at ahospital, instead it ends up with a moronic, lame and boring scriptfull of predictable twists. Oh yeah and the doctors are supposed to besaving a patient's life, not discussing their relationship problemswhile performing a dangerous operation. I mean how would you like tohave an open heart surgery with doctors who are not paying attention tothe operation and discussing relationship problems instead I know Iwouldn't. Also another point is that the show's casting responsibledecided to hire the most unattractive, boring, bland actors andactresses, for example when a patient is dying in the operation tablethey don't seem to care they just say " we lost him" simple andeasy.Another thing is, that all female employees on the hospital seemto be whores , there even was an episode where this virus was spreadingaround the hospital because of sexual relations. Final point, its ahospital show right? then , WHY THE HELL ARE WE FORCED TO WATCH THEEMPLOYEE'S PERSONAL LFE, WE DON'T CARE, WE WANT TO SEE A HOSPITAL SHOWBASED ON LIFE IN A HOSPITAL!. Bottom line, Grey's Anatomy is dull, boring, mediocre and moronic. What was supposed to be a good show wasturned into a cheesy soap opera. I honestly don't understand why peoplelike this show, its pure mierda!

totally unrealistic to the point of ridiculous & annoying

Sadly overacted, unrealistic, predictable series with 10 carbon copiesof one character. The surgeons & residents all stammer, growspeechless, have the same tone, similar reactions, lines, mannerisms, tears streaming down their faces... and these are doctors in ahospital. Have the show's creators and writers ever been in a hospital? It's all unheard of.I worked in a hospital with surgeons for 7 years and never ever saw oneof them cry or scream of grow out of control the way these charactersdo every day on the job. It's totally ludicrous - doctors are verycool-headed in their work, to the point of almost lacking compassion atall - especially surgeons. They are criticized for being totallyheartless, but you have to be to cut into human flesh. THey are nevermelodramatic the way ALL of the characters on this show are... not tomention the rotating bed partners and switching up sexuality --although most surgeons are sleaze-bags, the philandering is usuallywith nurses, not with other doctors and never same-sex. Grays featuresall kinds of unrealistic craziness. Please give the American public abreak and stop producing and airing this silly junk.

Grey's Anatomy Rocks

omg! grey's anatomy is by far my favorite show ever. i've been obsessedsince the beginning of it. when i told my friends about the episodeabout the heart on fire and the pregnant man they thought i was crazyfor watching something like that, but a couple episodes later i madethem watch it and they ended up loving it and being obsessed. it'skinda sad but grey's anatomy is my life. grey's anatomy was thehighlight of my weekend. now it will be the highlight of my thursdays.there's no doubt about i won't miss one episode and i'm definitelygoing to get the 2nd season on DVD and i already have a Dr. McDreamyt-shirt. people tell me this show is stupid but nothing will stop mefrom watching it. a lot of my friends whose parents are doctors saythat the show is stupid because none of it can happen but some of itcan... but even if it can't it's still entertaining!! if you don'twatch grey's anatomy you should definitely start..you'll love it!!

disappointing start

First off just let me say that I am a fan of medical dramas as a rule.I am an ER nurse and I usually enjoy fictional shows based on hospitalor pre-hospital situations. That said I was disappointed in Grey'sAnatomy mostly because of the gross medical errors in the script. Thiscould be an excellent show but they need to take the time to researchactual medical procedures, conditions, drugs, etc. to give the showsome depth in reality. For example a patient that arrives by helicopter would first go to theER not to a private room. Second Dr. Shepard is a surgical attendingbut the only surgery we see him do is neurosurgery, which is acompletely different discipline. Then we see Dr. Burke perform anappendectomy and an open heart in the same episode. Again generalsurgery and cardiovascular surgery are different disciplines. Also whenthe girl has here "grand mal" seizure they give the right drugs but inthe wrong amounts. When the girl goes into cardiac arrest they show theECG monitor and it shows a completely different rhythm then the onethey are treating. This could be a great show with a little more work put into it. One ofthings that makes ER so appealing is that it is a fairly accurate (fora TV show) portrayal of a real ER. I like the characters in Grey'sAnatomy and I think the cast has some good chemistry and a lot ofpotential. Hopefully the writers will take some time to put a littlemore reality into the script.

This is really good.

You will never imagine that in a hospital so many things can happen. Itmakes you cry, it makes you laugh and it makes you frustrated. And itjust makes you think about life. It has an amazing storyline and Iwould encourage people to buy the book and the acting is really good. The cliché between characters are acted out really well and this isjust one of the best TV series. The storyline is hard to understand ifyou didn't watch it from the beginning but you'll catch up. And this TVseries isn't just nonsense about healing people and saying how good inhealing they are or promoting Seattle hospital. There are failures andthrough the failures new story lines pop up. And the good thing is thatthis isn't just a no-nonsense thing. It's so funny but the season twofinale makes you cry so hard. If you haven't seen this on TV then youshould really buy the DVD's. It's really good and you will not bedisappointed. Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Hiegl giveout stunning performances and everyone will love this.

Help

OK...I just got done watching the second episode of Grey's Anatomy. Atthe end, Grey said this quote that really struck me. The only problemis I don't have the quote word-for-word and I was just wondering ifanybody was observant enough to catch it verbatim. It went somethinglike this and the word in CAPS is the only word I'm not certain on:"If you're willing to take the CHANCE, the view from the otherside...is spectacular." (Was it CHANCE or RISK?)I also really don't know why so many lines are required to fill up thiscomment box when I am already finished. This just doesn't seem worthit. OK so if anybody know's the quote, please contact me at the emailaddress, dashbebe18@aol.com or just reply to this comment on the siteeven though I may never get the time to check back. There, I hope I'veadded enough lines now. :-P I hope everybody has a lovely day.

Wow, where do I start?

I'm glad I read all the post's before I started this one. I reallydidn't expect what I just read at all.I guess I'll start by saying that I have only seen the first 5episodes. And the reason I'm here is because I was so taken with thepilot of this show! "That was Television at it's finest"!!! And while Istill hold the show in high regard, the next 4 episodes have not beenas good as the pilot. I'm hoping that the show didn't peak with thepilot. With all that said, I think I need to state that most of you here wantthis show to be something that it isn't. It's not about what it takesto save a life. ER. And to be fair, that is a "part" of the show. But Ithink this show is a "Character study". And if I'm too vague with thatdescription, its about the Characters more than the story's told. Thestory's in each episode are told to explain what is going on in all thecharacters heads. How they react to each situation.Any of you like to take a moment when your in the mall to just to sitdown for 5 minutes or so, and watch??? I love doing that. Quitepossibly the best way to learn about the human condition. That is whatI love about this show. While I think that they should get a few more "facts correct" when itcomes to how a hospital is really run. Some things are done for effect. If they showed Meredith only hesitating for a heart beat on that firstepisode, on her first "real" chance to diagnose. Which would be "morerealistic". It wouldn't convey how scared she really was. TV needs toshow her hesitating for 10 to 15 seconds, and then show somebody askinga second time, to really make the point. I'm not a doctor or a nurse, and I haven't a clue at any point what is or isn't accurate medically.I'm more interested in a shows and actors ability to suck me in andmake me believe! They did that in spades in the pilot of this show! Anybody else who has posted here a fan of Rescue Me?? I think that seasontwo of this show is as good as TV has ever been!!! Can't say enoughabout this show. Dennis Leary for his acting and writing. The Storysthat they have told. Taking me from tears of laughter to tears ofsadness in a few short minutes while keeping all of the story lines"real". Never before has a show been able to genuinely reduce me totears and make me laugh out loud so easily, and at the same time mademe hungry for more! Rescue me is so good because of the way that theyportray the characters in the story. They show you the good and the badthat lurks in all of us. Dennis's character is the hero and theanti-Christ all at once, and you want to slap him every time he makes abad decision. But you forgive him and love him anyway because he is sopassionate about life. This is what I think Grey's Anatomy is going to give me!I'll take a moment now to make a "Really long post longer" and add thatI work in TV. Not Drama or Comedy, but live sports. So I take my TVseriously from more than an entertainment view, but also from aproduction view. I critique it from more angles than than I probablyshould. LOLHope at least a few of you have enjoyed this post! It once was quite abit longer. I love good TV. And I like the discussion of... even more!OK, I'll stop now. If anybody cares to continue this I would greatlyenjoy it!! rob

One of ABC's Best

This show is still rather new, but has been popular from the start.Creator Shonda Rhimes has admitted to being surprised that it was sucha big hit. Currently this show is on Sunday nights at 10:00 Easterntime on ABC following Desperate Housewives. The show stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, a new intern at SeattleGrace Hospital. Meredith's mother was a surgeon legend who is in theearly stages of Alzheimers. Her mother wanted to keep the fact asecret, but early on in the show her mother is rushed to the hospitaland all whom she knows discovers the truth. Meredith's fellow internsare Christina Yang(Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), GeorgeO'Mally(TR Knight), and Alex Karev(Justin Chambers).Christina is rather uptight and very driven, shes always competing forthe best surgery, she also is dating Dr.Preston Burke (IsaiahWashington) an attending surgeon at Seattle Grace. Izzie comes from atrailer park, had a daughter at age sixteen whom she gave up foradoption, and worked as a model to pay her way through medical school. She's very peppy, had a thing with Alex, and its quite possible for thecreators to decide to start their 'thing' back up again.George O'Mally is your typical shy awkward 'best friend but never more'kind of guy. He lives with Izzie and Meredith in Meredith's mothershouse. At the beginning of the show many thinks he's gay, but thatquickly is proved wrong when all (but Meredith) realize that he's madlyin love Meredith. Not much is known about Alex. He's disliked by mostof his fellow interns, and can be quite a jerk. However, from time totime you see a softer sweeter side of him. He's a very complexcharacter and adds a lot to the show.A very important character on the show is Dr. Derek Shepard(PatrickDempsey) although hes more commonly known as McDreamy. He's seen in thevery first moments of the show where its made apparent that he andMeredith are waking up from a one night stand. Right then you can tellthats not the last you'll be seeing of them. Of course, he turns out tobe Meredith's new boss. They flirt for a couple of episodes and start arocky relationship. At the end of Season One its discovered that he hasa wife. It turns out that she cheated on him with his best friend andafter discovering that he fled to Seattle. Dr. Addison Shephard (KateWalsh) is not a popular character. Currently a series regular, most ofGrey's Anatomy's fans want her gone. Early in the second season Derekwas forced to choose between Addison and Meredith. While he admitted hestill loved Meredith, he decided to give his marriage a second chance.Needless to say, Meredith was heartbroken. Also on the show are the Chief of Surgery Richard Webber(James PickensJr) and Dr Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson). Bailey is the resident forthe interns on the show, she's nicknamed the "Nazi". She's strict butlovable, and adds a lot to the show. Chandra Wilson does magnificentjob playing the character. The center of the show is not the medical cases but the relationshipsbetween the characters. Admittedly the show is similar to a soap opera, but its ten times better. Make sure to tune in, because you wont regretit!

Dr. McDreamy's Divorce Situation

First of all, I love this show. BUT, I don't understand how Dr. DerekShepherd could have been talking about his wife as being the devil (andworse) for all those weeks, and now all of a sudden, he won't sign thedivorce papers? The reason given is ridiculous. He said he won't signthem because, "after all, she is his wife"....! What happened to hisintense hatred of her? How can he give up Meredith now? We waited allthis time for these 2 to get together, and now he puts a stop to it.How could he do such an about-face? He was waiting all this time forHER to sign the papers and send them to him, and now HE won't signthem. It is totally out of character.

Mind-blowingly great, better than ER.

In Grey's Anatomy, the patients are not the usual screaming people withblood everywhere. Sometimes it's a man who swallowed a handful ofdolls' heads, sometimes it's a woman who can't stop having spontaneousorgasms even when she doesn't want to. Or, it's a guy who has a tumorat his pelvic area causing him to have a constant erection, andsometimes it's a man with an unexploded bomb in his body cavity. It'sdifferent, and really creative. Not at all predictable, and the quotesare clever and witty. This show really makes you long for more. It's acomedy set in a hospital with romantic flings happening all the time,so you just have to be ready for almost everything.
