Blue Bell Could Be Better

I was eager to watch this show, but was highly disappointed. The actorstry to force their southern accents/dialect and the overcharacterizations can be offensive if you are from the south. I am afan of several of the actors but do not feel their roles truly showcasetheir talents. I don't know if its the writers or the talent but Idon't think this show will be around long. The best thing about thisshow is the town itself. I think it is very beautiful and inspiring, but the bad writing, dialect and acting will lead to an early end forthe group. I hope they have something else lined up. The producersshould have taken time to really visit a small southern town becausemany of their ideas for this show are outdated and typical of someonethat has probably never lived in the south and if they have probablyvery disconnected.

Regional importance

Good entertainment! I look forward to heading South once a week, whereso many of my friends reside. The characters are delightful, thescenery lovely, and the small town values and foundations a goodreminder to this Westerner. Southern charm with just the right amountof tension and complications of real life. A lot of people havecollaborated well to make this a cohesive series. The actors arewell-cast; believable. I'd enjoy seeing some 60-70 year old people inthe cast, portrayed with more diversity, as the younger actors are. Sofar, dithering, alcoholic and dead are the characterizations in thisdemographic-my age bracket. We're far more than that! Perhaps in theseasons to follow I'll see this enrichment added. It's my hope thatthis series will not only continue, but that the writers will developand deepen the essential premise of this terrific program. I believethat any television show that can open our nations' viewers to a widerportrayal of another region is valuable. References and responses toreal events, such as Katrina, on this program, help unify us, byportraying our similarities country-wide. Hart of Dixie is already ableto show our differences with humor and poignancy. Keep up the goodwork, and stay on the air. I look forward to continuing to follow thisseries.

Too Bad!!! It had great potential!

I hopefully tuned in thinking we could see something authenticallySouthern, like "Steel Magnolias", or "Fried Green Tomatoes". Thisdoesn't even come up to the level of "The Dukes of Hazzard".Love the premise. But Unfortunately, this seems to be just anotherHollywood version of "The South". The clichés are abundant, from theBlonde with big red lips, the gossipy Southern Women, and the horribleSouthern drawls. The only thing authentic about this series is thepilot being filmed in Wilmington, NC. With future episodes being filmedin LA, I am wondering how it can can improve. I may watch again, with the hope of it getting better.

Raising mediocrity to an art form

Everwood meets Northern Exposure meets Doc Hollywood and every othermedical/legal/parental/judicial/police fish out of water series. It isunoriginal, slow and entirely predictable. Will she win thetowns-folks' hearts and minds? Well, obviously. So who cares? There wasmore tension and drama in an episode of Marcus Welby or Dr Kildare. Tocompare this to the Gilmore Girls is like comparing water to champagne. While it doubtless appeals to adolescent girls in search of a rolemodel, by failing to show the hard work that went into her becoming adoctor in the first place, this 'heroine' has all the depth of acartoon figure on a cereal box. Give it a miss and watch somethingfunny and clever - such as Suburgatory - instead.

Loved it!

I have to say, I watched the pilot episode for the first time lastnight and I LOVED IT!!!!!! I thought is was an awesome show and I thinkthat it has set up so many avenues for varying parts of the show. Ican't wait to see more and I really hope there are more series of this,I am already addicted to it! I don't understand how someone could notenjoy this show personally. I think that Zoe has been set up for somegreat learning experiences. I can understand that there are someclichés within the show, but come on! which show doesn't have clichésin it these days? It is a television show and people who want to takeit too seriously should go watch a documentary instead. I think thatthe clichés add to the show myself. I cannot wait to watch the nextepisode and hope that it comes out on DVD so I can buy it as well.

Pleasant and watchable

It's nice to have a pleasant hour long comedy with light romance on TV.There are too many crime shows. Josh Schwarz delivers tongue in cheekhumor and a good likable cast. It's a Dr Quinn meets Sweet Home Alabamastory and it's quite charming. Zoe moves from NYC to Bluebell Alabamato practice medicine. The culture differences do provide enough laughs.Rachel Bilson is Rachel Bilson just like Audrey Hepburn was alwaysAudrey Hepburn. She may not be that convincing as a doctor but whocares - she is likable and manages to carry a series. The series relieson the other cast members equally. Jaimie King is pretty and acts wellas the high strung Southern Belle Lemon. The male leads Scott Porterand Wilson Bethel aren't that good looking but suit their roles and areconvincing actors.Overall pleasant and watchable - I'll keep watching and hope it lasts.

Interesting

This show is about a city girl moving into a small town. I do enjoythis show. I love how the community is so close. It makes me wish thatI lived in a small community such as Bluebell. I find this show unique because it isn't like any other show currentlyon TV, that I have seen. It's has a blend of city, country, small citytraditions and medical language.I also enjoy how it isn't drama filled like other popular shows. Hartof Dixie has comedy and the characters get more complex as the showgoes on. Also I enjoy how the show starts with a "mystery" that islater solved medically at the end of the show.

Relatively entertaining, it's too bad Rachel Bilson can't act

The show is entertaining enough and I like the cast but unfortunatelyRachel Bilson just can't act. As the lead role, that's a problem. Shehas decent moments, but for the most part it is forced andone-dimensional. It's Summer Roberts (The O.C.) in the South.Definitely not believable as a doctor. The rest of the cast shouldsustain the show for awhile but I'm not sure this will last more thanone or two seasons. If you're looking for something light and easy to watch (a way to filla bored evening perhaps), this will do it, but it's nothing to writehome about.
