Stop the Presses! A Funny Comedy for AdultsThose who think Hollywood is no longer capable of creating a funnycomedy for adults need not worry, as "Horrible Bosses" is proof thatthat increasingly rare phenomenon can still happen."Horrible Bosses" is one of those comedies like the classic "RuthlessPeople," in which an outrageous and dark premise works because of goodwriting and an ensemble that knows exactly how to handle the materialfor maximum comedic value. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and CharlieDay play the requisite straight man, alpha male and dumbass, respectively, that male buddy comedies need, while Kevin Spacey,Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell (sadly underused) play the titularbosses. All of them have a field day with their roles, and Anistonespecially stands out because of the film's decision to cast heragainst type as a slutty, foul-mouthed sex kitten; you can almost hearAniston sighing with relief as she gets to play something other thanthe cute-as-a-button girl next door.As with most comedies, whether or not you think "Horrible Bosses" isfunny will probably depend simply on whether or not you think theactors are funny. Charlie Day, for example, will likely drive somepeople crazy -- I thought he was hilarious.Grade: A |

Perfect movie for some of usIf you find crude humor distasteful, move on to another movie rightnow. If you think having a character named after the longest of GeorgeCarlin's 7 dirty words is hilarious then keep reading. This is a sillyplot played by excellent actors having a great time. Kevin Spacey as amalicious boss is a perfect role for him. Jennifer Aniston should playa sexist boss more often. The trio (2 Jasons and Charlie) have awonderful manic chemistry almost like Bridges and Goodman in The BigLebowski. Actually this movie is similar to Lebowski in that it hasunrealistic events brought to comic life by a great cast. Who wouldhave thought a hired killer for $200 would be not exactly what youwanted. And watch the credits at the end for some more fun. |

Very funny movie, even better than I expected. In first part of film you get to see the working place of three friends and the horrible types of bosses in each one. Then their scheme to get rid of these terrible bosses is what get really good. In the theater where I saw the film people were laughing their heads off. I heard one group of "older" young adults (not teens, much older than that) laughing and repeating the lines and gags all after and during the closing credits and even staying till the very end of those enjoying themselves repeating the funny moments. I also heard them say they couldn't wait to see the film again.I loved Kevin Spacey's portrayal of terribe brutal dictatorial boss. Someone you really wanted to hate. I was entertained by Jennifer Anniston's portrayal of a DDS always sexually harrassing her male assistant who was engaged to be married soon. Colin Farrel as the cokehead and playbay son of the one beloved boss in the group (soon to take over the company should anything happen to Kiefer Sutherland, his dad) really good too. I didn't recognize him until the crdits revealed him as he looked so different. Although I am now retired after 37 years of working on same job under an assortment of bosses, I found it very funny and a lot of fun. Of course, pure fantasy, but so many crazy things kept happening it was much better than I thought it would be going in.The one person on here giving such a negative review does not echo the reaction of the group of adults filling the theater where I went to see it last Saturday afternoon. |

Horrible in every possible wayIt's difficult to write 10 lines about this movie, but after wasting 60minutes of my life on it, I might as well save other people's time.Roger Ebert gave this 3.5 stars. But we know Roger by now, he also gaveThe Phantom Menace 3.5 stars. IMDb has it rated at 7.1, but again, nowadays children as young as 3can access the internet and probably know how to click on the littlestars. I had to turn my TV off at the 60 min mark because it was impossiblefor me to stomach anymore of this completely over-the-top,uninteresting, lame, repetitive, clichéd, bigoted, and horribly miscastpiece of crap. Hey guys, you sure Jason Sudeikis was meant to be thesuave womanizer and not Jason Bateman? At least he has the looks anddoesn't act like a mentally impaired 12-year-old. And Charlie Day makesyou want to go out on a homicidal rampage like Michael Douglas. Hischaracter is introduced as someone whose "childhood dream was to be ahusband". What kind of B.S. is that???Were it not for Kevin Spacey and Colin Farrell I wouldn't have made itpast the 10 minute mark. But please avoid like the plague. |

Best comedy of the yearWhat a pleasant surprise! I went to see this movie mostly because I hadmy share of horrible bosses in the past and I was intrigues by thetrailer. It must be noted that the three male leads are basicallyunknown in Europe, so it was not their star power to attract me.Neither was the presence of Spacey, Aniston or Farrell, since I am nota fan of any of them.Since it was purely the topic that drew me in, I was very pleased bythe plot. It was obviously demented and over the top, but still with ahint of realism. It is easy to argue that when you hate your boss youshould find another job. Unfortunately, in times as ours, chances tofind a better job are slim, while horrible bosses seem to proliferate. Therefore, it is easy to sympathize with the crazy murder attemptsperpetrated by the trio of friends, with the help of their "murderconsultant" (glorious idea, character brilliantly played by JamieFoxx). In any case, it is clear that these three guys are unable to murderanybody, so I did not see any dark undertone in the comedy. It was along time since I laughed so much at the cinema and I appreciatedalmost every joke (from the build-up about Jamie Foxx character's name,to the "Gregory" development). The only part less funny, was the sexharassment plot, which Aniston played well, and very much against type.Unfortunately, playing women with a sex angle is by far the easiestchoice. Choosing a different evil for the female boss, might have beena bolder challenge. |

Absolutely HilariousHad no expectations before watching (DVD viewer). Started laughingalmost from the first scene, and it only got funnier throughout. I'mstill trying to figure out what was funny about the Hangover. For methis movie hit, consistently, where Hangover missed. In terms ofcomedic appeal, this was up there with Role Models, another brilliantlyexecuted comedy (Paul Rudd could easily have played the Jason Batemenrole, but JB pulled it off with his own brand of comedic flair). Peoplehave problems with stereotypes?? C'mon folks, that's the idea (withsome twists). Great screenplay, well-directed (wtg, Seth). Sudekis wassmooth and still funny and Charlie Day was the hilarious foil, kind ofa cross between Galifianakis and Goldthwait. OK, so a bit of aHollywood ending takes some of the dark out of it, but this is going tobecome a classic. SEE IT. |

Throw Horrible Bosses From a TrainInteresting formula: Take Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train from way back in the 50s, add in equal amounts of Danny DeVito's 1987 spoof of that movie called Throw Momma From a Train, then mix 'em both with a whopping helping of Hangover humor and that sets the stage for the dark comedy Horrible Bosses. But it wouldn't be the complete movie that it is without the absolutely perfect cast who act their own parts out with perfection, but also exhibit a chemistry together that is unparalleled in any movie that I've recently seen. And hats off to the writer/producer/director team for putting together a familiar story line that is ultimately pulled off with originality, and most importantly, hilarity from start to finish. The humor is often rude, crude and probably a bit more than the average Jennifer Aniston movie fan bargained for. However I give Aniston a ton of credit for for adding to the success of this film by effortlessly making her character believable, funny and shocking. After all the goody two-shoes roles that I'm used to seeing Aniston in, watching her in a "bad girl" role only made the movie more refreshing and entertaining.Colin Farrell was another great cast as one of the Horrible Bosses. He's transformed into a pot-bellied, balding drug addict and almost unrecognizable a la Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. Farrell is Jason Sudeikis' boss. Kevin Spacey is Jason Bateman's boss, and Spacey is a natural crass meanie. Then Anistion is a the boss of a comical Charlie Day. The individual bosses deal out their own styles of harassment on the job and it's all darkly hysterical. So the three guys are given the notion that they could take each other's bosses out to make their lives easier. The events following this brainstorm of an idea are equally dark and laugh out loud funny. If you're looking for laughs you'll find them o'plenty in Horrible Bosses. Perhaps over the top at times (but that's what the movie is going for), Horrible Bosses is one of the best movies that I've seen in 2011. |

A funny dark comedy with a great cast, but I though it was going to be funnier. Aniston makes the movie. I say B"Our lives would be a hell of a lot better if our bosses weren'talive." Nick (Bateman), Kurt (Sudeikis), and Dale (Day) all hate theirbosses. All of them believe they have the worst boss ever and havesufficient evidence to back this up. When they reach their breakingpoint they start to plan on killing their bosses. When the wheels startrolling it isn't long until they fall off and things don't go asplanned. This is a movie I had high hoped for. I think that JasonBateman is one of the funniest people and the plot seemed like it wouldbe awesome. While I did like this movie it was a little disappointing. The funniest parts in this one they began to do over and over and bythe fifth time they did the joke it wasn't that funny anymore. I dothink that the hype behind this one, as well as watching the "ChangeUp" before this one had a lot to do with my opinion though. All theactors are perfectly cast and there are laughs, but it's not a constantlaugh-out-loud movie like I expected. I will close by saying somethingI never thought I would...Jennifer Aniston is the best part of thismovie. Overall, I recommend this but lower your expectations. I give ita B.Would I watch again? - I might but just for Aniston.*Also try - Hall Pass & School For Scoundrels |

A plot with lots of potential but most of it wasted. Tedious movie.DVD from my public library system. The story revolves around and weaves through three different situationswhere a good, nay exemplary, employee is saddled with a horrible boss. One is a timid dental technician who has a "sexual deviant" record, butonly because he was arrested late one night taking a leak in somebushes with no one around. He works for the female dentist from hell,Jennifer Aniston as Dr. Julia Harris, D.D.S. You have not witnessessexual harassment until you've seen her in action.Another is the veteran employee who is up for promotion to V.P. anddoes everything he can to cater to the boss without scruples or morals, then finds out the boss was leading him on all this time. Kevin Spaceyexpertly plays the boss, Dave Harken. And the final is a faithful right-hand man in a chemical manufacturingcompany, but the old boss dies unexpectedly with a massive coronary(heart exploded) and the young son without scruples or morals takesover to make the workplace a hell. That horrible boss is Colin Farrellas Bobby Pellitt. So where do we go from there? See how each manages the situation toturn it around to something productive? No! They decide that the onlysolution is to kill all three horrible bosses. And the path they takeis a bumbling one that isn't particularly good or funny. In a take-offfrom Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train", they decide to kill eachothers' bosses but it never quite works out that way.Good talent wasted in what ultimately is a horrible movie. |

The Hangover WannabeAm I the only one that noticed this? I mean, an R-rated comedy. JasonSudeikis is Bradley Cooper, the cool charming guy. Charlie Day is ZachGalifianakis, the hilarious stupid guy. And Jason Bateman is Ed Helms, the insecure boring loser. Lots of funny twists and crazy stuff onlyfor it to all get worked out in the end. I'm not saying it's bad, because I enjoyed it, and I'm glad the Hangover trend is becoming morecommon. Jamie Foxx in particular was hilarious, and I loved CharlieDay's character, but the best thing about this movie has to be JenniferAniston. She was given the perfect role and she delivered itexquisitely as expected, lucky us! It's good laughs, enjoyable movie.Jennifer Aniston makes it great and highly re-watchable. |

Wilder Movie Reviews (2012-04-22 17:51:10) |
Easily my favourite comedy of 2011Easily my favourite comedy of 2011, with Crazy, Stupid, Love. coming aclose second. The film is about three guys whose jobs are made hell bytheir bosses. They decide to kill them in a "Strangers on a train"style, where one kills another's boss so it can't be traced back to theemployee. I wasn't sure what to expect from the cast that includesKevin Spacey, Jason Bateman, Colin Farrell, Donald Sutherland, JamieFoxx and Jennifer Aniston. Each fine actors but how would they fair inthis film? Amazingly is how. Colin Farrell is almost unrecognizable asone of the bosses and Kevin Spacey is great as usual. However the standout performance of the film is Jennifer Aniston. She plays a dentist, the boss of Dale (Charlie Day) and she is sexually harassing him. Shereally takes the role and plays it to perfection. Dale is her shyassistant who is engaged to Stacy (Lindsay Sloane). He is faithful toher and resists all advances from his over sexed boss. It is not a rolewe are used to seeing her play but it is a perfect performance. Anothergreat performance was Jamie Foxx the murder consultant they hire.Horrible Bosses is a great comedy, almost a perfect comedy. The onlyflaw for me was it was all tied up a little too neatly. I saw theending coming before it happened and it would have been nice to have anending a little more surprising. Having said that I can't imagine howit could have been ended differently. The film doesn't have to resortto crude gags and just lets the script and performances of the casttell the story. This works so well and full credit to the writers for agreat comedy. |

Not horrible, not great. Just okay.Nothing special here. Weak plot. Very weak in fact. It's about as thinas you can get in regards to propelling a movie forward. Thankfully, there are a few comedy worthy performances that keep the movie goingforward. Colin Farrell as a coked up boss with an overcomb. JenniferAniston as a sex crazed dental hygienist. The 3 main charactersthemselves are fairly uninteresting, with nigh implausible incentivesto wish murder upon someone. I mean come on, wishing murder upon anattractive dentist because she wants to have sex with you. Really? Infact, Jennifer Aniston and Jamie Foxx were probably one of the fewsaving graces of this film. Kevin Spacey played his role to a tee.Other than that, I would recommend this film to friends who are fans ofthe show Friends. That is, check out Jennifer Anniston like you'venever seen here before. Unfortunately her role was a fairly minor one.The ending itself was another all too convenient affair. All in all, amovie that fell flat short of it's intended goal. |

This is Jennifer Aniston's Best Work! After "The Hangover" hit it big two years ago. There had been a lot ofsimilar Rated-R, crude and naughty comedies that have ridden the samesuccessful wave. This year alone, in particular, I feel there hadactually been a glut. There was "Hangover 2", "Bridesmaids", "BadTeacher", and as if a summer could need another one, here comes"Horrible Bosses."The film tells the story of three miserable guys stuck with three"horrible" bosses. So one day, they decide to just go ahead and killthem. And from that premise, the black comedy arises. To cut the longstory short, the three guys undergo several adventures andmisadventures in order to exact their revenge on these bosses. Thescript is downright mean, nasty and raunchy.I did not really know the three actors who played the down-and-outguys, except Jason Bateman (vaguely). But the bosses are all-star: apompous Kevin Spacey, a balding mousy Colin Farrell and a very sexuallyaggressive Jennifer Aniston. The scenarios with Spacey and Farrell aresort of familiar already and not really too funny. The most hilariousparts for me however are those that involve the lady dentist Dr. JuliaHarris (Aniston) and her sexually-harassed assistant Dale (CharlieDay). her performance here is so unlike anything I have seen Jenniferin and she nails this character cold.So if you are not yet tired with this raunchy comedy trend, you canstill try to catch "Horrible Bosses." For me though, I felt I amalready a little bit too full for this type of movie in same season.Maybe next year again. |

The first funny adult comedy of the year. This movie is everything that The Hangover was and The Hangover 2 wasn't. Bawdy, sexy, funny, quick, great direction and camera work makes this movie the best comedy of the 2011 so far.Six strong actors play to their strengths, each showcasing what they do best, throw in a few familiar faces for good measure and it rounds out a well selected cast. Where else will you see veterans of The Wire and Blue Collar Comedy Tour share a set.If comedies were judged as they should be, on laughs per minute, this would get my vote as best value of he summer. |

Horrible...no just disappointingHaving seen some of the trailers for this film, I was looking forwardto a really funny 'Saturday-night-at-the-movies' film. UnfortunatelyHorrible Bosses didn't live up to the hype. The laugh-out-loud momentswere just too few in number and the strand of the storyline , whichinvolved Jennifer Aniston was quite uncomfortable to watch. I say thisas had it been a female employee with a male boss then some of thescenes would have taken on a creepier edge. The strongest storyline wasJustin Bateman's with Kevin Spacey as his over-the-top boss - acharacter, which was very easy to hate. Colin Farrell's character wascriminally under-used and Jason Sudeikis's character was a wee bit tooirritating. I reckon that this film could have been much better but ifyou lower your expectations then maybe you won't be as disappointed. |

horrible bossesHorrible Bosses film contain that there were three guys that didn'tlike working with their bosses because they were always telling eachindividual what to do. Dr Julia Harris was sexually harassing him todivorcée his fiancé but she was a child molester. Nick vice presidentof the company he wanted to show his boss that he could be president ofthe company although they boss picked himself to get the big office anddirect the whole company. The three employers wanted to intently find away to kill or get rid of their bosses however they wouldn't let nobodyfind out how they did it. In this case they hired a hit man to spy oneach individual bosses to see how to kill them. They hatted theirbosses that much that they just wanted to get rid of them how over theycan. |
