Reliving the Memories like a Jackass

I believe I enjoyed the classic, MTV series' made movie Jackass 3D abit too much if that's possible. This is the third installment in theJackass franchise, and while not the best, it has certain stunts thatreally put a smile on your face and ones that make the film itselfmemorable in it's own special way. It's been eight years since thefirst film went to theaters and ten since the series got it's start onMTV. Jackass 3D celebrates the occasion by having all the samecharacters back and doing the crazy, no limit stunts they're famousfor.Who needs plot? Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Steve-O,Chris Pontius, Jason "Wee-Man" Acuña, Preston Lacy, Dave England, andEheren McGhehey perform hurtful, injury filled, and pointless stuntsfor our enjoyment. I know how much people have looked forward to thisfilm and I won't ruin any stunts, or so which ones I favor. But I willsay, this one is male nudity filled and laugh infested.I will say the opening sequence to this film was probably the weakestyet in Jackass films. The first movie, they ride down a bridge in agiant shopping cart; I call that my favorite opening. In Number Two,they are being chased by bulls on a suburban street; pretty funny andamusing. A worthy opening. This one I won't spoil, but nothing specialhappens. Some of the people I've talked to enjoyed it, but I didn'treally. It had it's perks and different levels of amusement, butoverall, it's just average. Though the fun filled ending scene makes upfor the bland intro. It seems too they gave characters who didn't have a name more stunts toperform. I swear I've seen Preston, Dave, and Eheren more than I haveever seen in a Jackass film or TV show. They were there once in awhile, but they do various stunts in the film; most notably Eherenwho's name is now "Danger Eheren". We also see Dreamseller authorBrandon Novak get hit a few times which I enjoyed. Him and Joe Frantzare both underrated and I think seeing Novak in the film will get himsome support.I will say that the gang may be forty, but they perform stunts likethey're in High School. No matter which way you look at it, whenJackass came on it was an iconic series, nothing like that had reallybeen done before. Guys doing stunts and getting injured for audienceamusement? "Gnarley dude!" Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O have stood outto me has Jackass' best. Though the whole cast never ceases to impress, they've stood out has the true jackasses. Once I head Johnny Knoxvillesay "Hi. I'm Johnny Knoxville an' welcome to Jackass!" I knew oh yeah,I was back. The last thing I want to touch on is the 3D and keep in mind the starrating isn't effected by the 3D's performance. The 3D is nice for a fewscenes, but overall, if rated, it would get a two and a half. It's nicein some scenes, but it's not as in depth as it should be. I know it'slive action, so it's without a doubt harder to do than most animation, but Avatar's three dimensional performance was great even in liveaction, while not being a mind blowing film. The most awkward thingabout 3D is when it comes to DVD or TV in 2D, it'll look odd havingmany things bouncing out at the screen since it was clearly shot for 3Dpurposes. All movies have an odd 2D transfer if shrunk down to 3D.Jackass 3D may not have surpassed the classic series, but it didimpress a bit more than the second film did in that matter. The filmhas memorable stunts and little quirky things that make the filmspecial in it's own way. To reflect on Roger Ebert's Jackass: The Moviereview it's like we are watching a series of outtakes, not a realmovie. Jackass 3D is 94 minutes but it goes by ridiculously fast evenin RealD 3D. Nothing left to say, but "stupid is as stupid does".Starring: Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Steve-O, ChrisPontius, Jason "Wee-Man" Acuña, Preston Lacy, Dave England, EherenMcGhehey, Spike Jonze, Jeff Tremaine, and Brandon Novak. Directed by:Jeff Tremaine.

More of the glorious same!

Jackass is childish . Jackass is stupid . Jackass is sick . Jackass isright up my street! In this latest instalment Johnny Knoxville and the boys go all threedimensional on our arse and although i only saw this in glorious 2 D itstill looked amazing. The contents are much the same as what we're used to. This time we areexposed to stunts such as " Super Mighty Glue" where Wee Man & Prestonare super glued together. . "The High Five" , where a giant handsprings out and hits people unexpectedly and " The helicockter" well ,Use your imagination on that one!. My only disappointment is that i didn't get to see this in 3D as ithink it might have looked great.I'm not sure how much longer these guys can keep doing these stuntsbecause sooner rather than later someone is going to get seriously hurtor failing that they will get too old but while they can i will stillenjoy watching them.

Raunchy College Humor......ON STEROIDS

When you take out all the sex jokes and bodily functions stunts there isn't much left of this slumfest. To describe the humor as crude is a big understatement. Yes, there were a few funny sight gags, but Jackass is showing its age, as are Johnny Knoxville and his cast of cretins. My recommendation: wait for the video and convince someone else to pay for the rental. Keep the kids far away from this one.

Delivers the goods

Johnny Knoxville and his whole of deviants are back in Jackass 3-D. I saw this at a screening last night. Screenings for the movie have been going since August. The audience I saw it with loved it, I loved it. If you've seen the other Jackass movies, you know what to expect. There's never a dull moment here. They did actually besides the groan inducing stunts actually did a lot more comedy gags than I expected (like the fat guy, slim guy bit). The stunts were good. They were all rude, crude, and painful. The 3-D glasses were good. My favorites of the top of my head were "Electric Avenue", duck hunt bit, "Poop Cocktail Supreme", and "Ram Jam". Other funny stunts where the one with Johnny playing a senior citizen (done before yes but still funny), the "Jet Ski" stunt, "Sweat cocktail", and stunts with bees. There's even one stunt with Dudesons. As with other Jackass movies, at the end we get the outtakes and a montage of pics. One of the guys said this would be their last movie together, but I wouldn't be surprised if the guys come back for another one. They always come energized to do their stunts and while all of them have aged, they are having at it.Dvd is sure to come with extra scenes. Jackass 3-D a fun watch.

As guiltily amusing as it's ever been in parts, but overall I think it's time to leave it after this one

STAR RATING: ***** Saturday Night **** Friday Night *** Friday Morning** Sunday Night * Monday Morning There's a surprise appearance from two of my old comedy heroes at thebeginning of this third instalment of the Jackass franchise (in theshape of Beavis and Butthead) which was a pleasant surprise seeing themat their old antics again, but see them again I never did. The bigspectacle here, of course, is that this time around you can see JohnnyKnoxville and his gang getting up to their mischief and mayhem in 3D!But since I had no 3D specs to see it with, this was a bit of a lostnovelty. The formula here is exactly the same as the last two films, with anendless onslaught of Knoxville and his cohorts getting up to theirvarious imaginatively gross pranks and dangerous stunts, so essentiallyif you enjoyed them there's no reason you won't enjoy this. Except, there sort of is. While all the antics of the gang are as puerile andgross out as they ever were, only a very few of them really get youchuckling, being as predictable and samey as they are, and the format(which always worked better as a TV show, anyway) really feels likeit's been stretched to the limit. This series really needs to pay heedto De La Soul and note that three is the magic number. **

ALWAYS FUNNY

This review is from: Jackass 3 (Amazon Instant Video) Honestly you will walk away with your cheeks hurting from laughing so much. Always a fun movie and great cast.

So funny it hurts

I have never laughed so hard in my life during a movie. Jackass 3 movie is definitely not for everyone, but for most of us it is the best comedy available.

(2012-04-22 21:00:41)

sick and silly.

I know most people on here who claim to own a 3d tv are lying but I bought the DVD 3D version and was really happy with it. The 3D aspect isn't even really used so this isn't an in-your-face presentation. Still, I laughed my a** off with the last two films and this one was no diffent. I'm suprised these guys haven't killed anyone yet. This was as funny as the last two films but I think filming it in 3D was part of the joke. There is plenty of depth in the 3D but nothing really in your face. Looks like it was made to be an anaglyph release eventually but really in 2D is still best for this type of movie and that version is included with bonus footage. Never thought I'd say it but a good 3D release but it is still so much worth it to watch these morons hurt themselves in any dimention. Watch in 2D. By the way, the comment on 3D tv customers who lie, this Blu ray DOES include a Blu Ray 3D release for flicker glasses. Which works but still the same effect as DVD. Depth but not impressive.

Hilarious

This review is from: Jackass 3 (Two-Disc Anaglyph 3D DVD / Blu-ray Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) this movie was hilarious, defintely worth it. the 3D is ok, the glasses kinda suck with it, but id rather just watch the movie by itself anyways. Great buy!!

A Goal on an Empty Net

How does one review "Jackass 3D"? The tertiary installment in MTV'sprank and stunt franchise is basically immune to criticism because youget exactly what you pay for. Love it or hate it, "Jackass 3D"accomplishes just about everything it sets out to; in effect, JohnnyKnoxville scores a goal on an empty net.I am the anomaly, but I'd wager next to no one is 'on the fence' aboutwhether or not they should see this film. They either contributed tothe massive $50 million opening weekend box office cume, or theyimmediately dismissed it. In my case, however, having never seen the"Jackass" films wasn't a conscious snub. Believe it or not, there justalways seemed to be something better to watch. But mine's not a high horse. I sought out and watched "Jackass" and"Jackass: Number Two" the week prior to my first theater experiencewith the series, and I'm glad I did. After all, I grew up on "America'sFunniest Home Videos" and throughout high school religiously followedthe English hidden camera show "Trigger Happy TV." "Jackass" is not asclever as the latter, but by measure of unbridled chutzpah, Knoxvilleand Co. are the reigning kings.Like a Victorian freak show or museum of oddities, the oftenself-destructive experiments of the "Jackass" crew are the guiltypleasures of our generation. There's something almost gladiatorialabout watching the elaborate dangers these brave idiots subjectthemselves to. Man vs. bull, man vs. mule, man vs. man—our fascinationwith competition, spectacle, and injury is nothing new."Jackass 3D" being my first chance to observe others' response to theseshenanigans, I was most amazed by the two-pronged reaction the audiencehad to the physical trauma the performers sustained. A given stuntwould be executed, typically resulting in its participant doubling overin pain. The crowd laughed, as they'd been cued to. The film would thenplay back the moment in slow motion and suddenly everyone would groanor sharply inhale. Though we paid to laugh at people injuringthemselves, what's more interesting is our ability to empathize withthe depiction of human pain. That the "Jackass" films achieve both isnot an insignificant feat. This isn't the definitive "Jackass" experience, however. Having watchedall three films in the span of a single week, I did discern a distinctarc that left me somewhat letdown with Knoxville's most recent effort."Jackass: Number Two" improved upon the original with a more polished, professional look, and more elaborate and inventive stunts. It gave thegenuine impression that the crew was pushing its boundaries andtrumping itself wherever possible. That same sense of pioneering islargely missing from "Jackass 3D." The glasses- gimmick seems tosupplant genuine innovation in their routine, and on the whole it feelsslapdash in comparison to the conceptual genius of its prequel. But what survives in "Jackass 3D," and what ultimately endeared me tothe franchise is its creativity. Where it won me over was not in thepainful payoff of each trick, but rather in the setup. The use of thecamera to disorient, spotlight, and surprise is what really makes theseries sing, and the trilogy is full of epiphanic moments of hilarity."Jackass" has and always will be a potpourri of comedic elements, notall of which directly appeal to my specific sensibilities, but thevariety is essential and the whole is somehow more than the sum of itsparts.I only wish "Jackass 3D" had more of the entrepreneurial spirit that sodistinguished the second film. It may not be ambitious, but hey, a goalmade on an empty net still counts.

stupid in a new dimension

I went to the theaters knowing i was going to love this and i did. however i felt it was WAAAAAAAY too short. I'm glad to hear there will be an extended unrated edition along with the normal edition. For anyone wondering, the blu ray version comes with the movie in blu ray (Which has a bunch more special features), DVD, digital copy, and a third disk with the original film from theaters with 4 pairs of 3D glasses to watch the movie in 3d. I'm really pissed that I'm gonna have to buy a separate DVD copy though since this only comes with the blu ray and the 3D DVD. i hate those stupid blue and red 3D glasses but for jackass i can make an exception.

Warning: Complete and Utter Dumb Fun.

As the great Mike Patton once sang: "It's always funny until someonegets hurt, and then it's just hilarious!" These appear to be words tolive by for the "Jackass" crew, who are back for a third round ofshenanigans in "Jackass 3D." The guys that hurt themselves for laughsso you don't have to are back in full form and if you think age hastempered their appetite for danger and potty-humor, then you are sorelymistaken.Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Wee Man, PrestonLacy, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Ehren McGhehey -- all the names andfaces you've come to know over the years -- make their return (with afew stragglers left behind, naturally) to the feature-length filmformat to abuse 3D technology in ways that would infuriate JamesCameron. Flying feces? Check. Unnecessarily exposed male genitalia?Check. The ever-reliable vomiting of a now-sober Steve-O? You bet. Ifyou thought the envelope had been pushed as far as it would go before, think again. This "Jackass" is a full three dimensions of dumb anddisgusting.Tastelessness aside, there's something both cinematic and slightlysentimental about this installment. Maybe it's all the slow-motionshots and Rocky references, but for the first time it appears as ifdirector Jeff Tremaine is taking his craft a bit more seriously. Theover-the-top opening and closing of the movie are nothing short of epic(at least by MTV standards) and if anything, it's the finest looking"Jackass" to date. Likewise, the cast seems to be stepping it up anotch; not only are they going to the extreme here, but they seem to beenjoying it more than ever. The film just so happens to mark thetenth-year anniversary of the franchise, so it's no coincidence thatthe sense of camaraderie is tighter than before. For the first time, itappears as though the guys are having as much fun laughing atthemselves as we are. There are plenty of memorable stunts -- from an updated porto-potty gagdubbed "The Poo-Cocktail Supreme" to a stinker of a man-made volcanoand a scene involving bees that rivals the hilariousness of Nic Cage inthe infamous The Wicker Man remake -- and just as many laughs to goaround. Cameos from the likes of Sean William Scott, Weezer, RipTaylor, and Beavis and Butt-Head are along for the ride, but the truestars remain the main crew and their non-stop disregard for their ownwell-being. Dumb and reckless, yet unrelentingly amusing, this thirdinstallment in the unlikely franchise is guaranteed to have yougiggling mindlessly while simultaneously squirming in your seat.

Great Movie...When is the DVD Coming?

Saw this movie over the weekend and laughed my a$$ off! Not sure what sort of bells and whistles are going to be on the DVD, but I can only imagine the hilarious stuff that they had to cut when they edited the theatrical version. If you are a fan of these kinds of movies, you NEED to check out Midgets vs. MascotsMidgets vs. Mascots (Unrated), Funniest movie that I saw in 2010, but Jackass 3D is a close second.

Boys who never grew up

I am so sorry I wasted my time on. I turned it off 1/2 way through. The first was maybe okay but the boys have gone overboard with idiotness. I guess this is true with most sequels of our time. This one is bordering obscene and some of the pranks are cruel. I would love to see their doctors or chiroprator bills after they experience abuse. It is abuse what they do to each other. I can see these men as boys years ago abusing animals and getting a laugh out of it. Only thing is they graduated to people and other people are paying to see it. Think twice before you buy. There are other ways to get a laugh.

jackasses...love 'em

I fancy myself as being more of a 'high-brow' audience member. However,I have seen some of the Jackass humor in the past and I know what itinvolves. I don't see it for educational purposes. Like the threestooges, you don't watch them to learn the history of the world. Sowhen I went to the movie, I expected nothing intelligent. And I wascorrect in my predetermination. But with that aside, I don't know ifit's me—I'm not homophobic—but are these guys a little 'gay' or arethey at the point of what can we do to raise the shock value? J/K. Itjust seems odd that they do a lot of their stints in g-strings. I cansee that one guy who always runs around shocking people and dancing infront of them in his g-string—very very funny. But how can they do allthose stints in a g-string? Personally, I'd be covered like theMichelin Man from head to toe in protective gear. However, these guysare out there with little and sometimes no clothing at all. They stillgot balls...somehow! Now I know this is probably incorrect on some PClevel, but I couldn't control my laughter when they did the littleperson moment at the bar. If it was regular size people, it wouldn'thave been as funny. What made it funny wasn't the actual actors but thepeople in the bar. It was just so slapstick keystone cops by the end,and the people in the bar were just so confused by the event, it justreally made me laugh. I guess that was the point of Knoxville and hiscrew, the shock value once again. It worked. Overall, the movie is justa bunch of idiots doing really stupid dangerous things in which, attimes, they have absolutely no regard for their own safety—Goalaccomplished. Perfect.

Short Honest Review.

These are one of those movies you love.... or you hate. So if your not sure if you like these types of movie go rent Jackass 1 and 2. Now with that being said... I never have left the theater with such satisfaction. I gaged twice, laughed and was grossed out the whole way through the movie. These guys mess themselves up bad. I hate how people give this movie a F. If you didn't like the first 2 you won't like this one. But if you loved the first two you will not be disappointed.

If you spend your Jack you're the ass.

It doesn't meet any logical criteria as a movie and wasn't shot onfilm. It's a series of video clips of mostly crude stunts. If barfingis your idea of fun this is for you. No animals were harmed exceptperhaps the morons doing the stunts. There is something for everyone if you enjoy things usually performedinto a toilet performed on screen. There's a fun jet engine mega fan segment. The s**t is the only thingthat didn't hit the fan, but it hits almost everything else. There area few laughs and perhaps a weird touching relationship between theperformers.Segments that are supposed to be spontaneous come off looking staged, especially, the grandfather/granddaughter segment. Some of the materialappears not to be recorded in 3D. Super-imposing a 3D title doesn'tmake a scene 3D.Rather then see this piece of work; it should be placed into a timecapsule as a reference to the decline of western civilization.

Jackass 3D

This review is from: Jackass 3 (Two-Disc Anaglyph 3D DVD / Blu-ray Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) Great movie! Loved Irving Zisman, but Gloria got really fat! Hahahaaa made her look younger, though. I liked it better without the 3D because the 3D was crummy quality. The other copy (you get 2 dics) had the best & brightest colors - it was amazing. The opening sequence was just plain fun. Only complaints were that the skits didn't mesh as well together as in the other movies and a couple of the guys seemed really out of shape especially when compared to Jackass 2.

they're back!

This review is from: Jackass 3 (Two-Disc Unrated and Theatrical Edition w/ Anaglyph 3D) (DVD) these guys are the craziest people whoever graced the screen and tv and now they are back. . .and in 3D!
