Plot Summary:
Knight and Day has action by the boatload, cheeky wit, unexpected double-crossing, sexual tension, and the blinding smile of its star, Tom Cruise. In short, what more could you ask of a rollicking good-time movie? Knight and Day, which also stars the irresistible Cameron Diaz as Cruises superspys ultimate foil, channels the best elements of earlier films like Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mission Impossible, the Bourne films, and even a little of Duplicitys sophistication. Mostly, though, Knight and Day is about moving things along merrily, if not completely coherently, as the two stars tangle, and tussle with trust issues, in a completely believable, compulsively watchable way. Cruise plays Roy, an on-the-lam spy (who may have had some kind of psychotic break--or who may in fact be the only person telling the truth) he runs into the winsome June (Diaz), who gets caught up in Roys mad dash to escape the cabal of federal agents on his tail. No one follows us, Roy announces to a terrified diner crowd as he moves to make his escape with June, or I kill myself--and then her. While Knight and Day, directed by James Mangold, has more than its share of high-speed chases, hails of bullets, and explosions, it works far better as a romantic comedy--for the chemistry between Diaz and Cruise is delicious, palpable, and believable. So grab a date and an extra-large popcorn, and get ready for a sweet and fun Knight and Day.

Really???I love Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise but really? This movie was sounbelievable and the storyline was completely...well...lame! I wouldn'teven recommend this as a renter. I am a big fan of fast paced actionmovies but this was just ridiculous. Life is short, don't waste yourtime on this flick!!!!Seriously...I can't believe that I am still typing for this wasted timeof a movie. IMDb is forcing me to type a minimum of ten lines for areview. This after I registered on the site just to warn people of howbad a movie Knight and Day is. Honestly the headliners in this flickdraw a crowd but don't be duped! |

Fake teeth for everyone !!!There are so many people that have written reviews for this film so ithink all opinions have been told , but i'll try to add someinteresting things after my evaluation , my opinion is that this filmmisses some important things that make a great movie but generallyworth's its pop corn. Most interesting part was inside the big airplaneat start in my opinion this was the whole movie for me if you ask me,after this point and before that point it was pointless really like adead end like a Chinese man with strait eyes, i wont say more thingsabout this scene not to add any spoilers .A lot of scenes was withoutinterest at all after this scene i ll give an example who cares aboutthe secret house of the spy's parents !!!!not funny at all, so themovie had the absence of a nice plot in fact i think that there was noplot at all ,it was only some parts from action movies reconstructed asseparate parts of this movie and connected to a main idea that was toproduce some fun and excitement. Most stupid scene of the film was thescene in Austrian hotel also the turn that took the plot with the guywho at start was the good guy and finally was the not so Innocent guy(how prototype loll) I wanted to write some more words but it reallydidn't produced any great feelings for me so The film after the startwas really below mediocre.Diaz and Cruze was sympathetic a lot and insome times gave a little fun to audience and for the girl diaz i reallythink that has great potentialities but till now i haven't watched herto a nice plot that can give her best self always plays in mediocrecomedies and stupid plots like "The Box". The film had some kick assaction and some fun and my opinion is too much money spended fornothing. The most important tool that was missing from this movie tomake it really interesting and entertainable with such big stars ofcinema was the vibrator...if this movie was completed with thisinstrument i could really gave it a 10 but now it takes my 6/10 |

Purely unrealistic fluffThis movie was so bad, I had to stop watching it after 30 minutes. Neither Cruise's nor Diaz's character is at all believable, and the plot, revolving around an everlasting battery, is so far-fetched that I couldn't suspend my disbelief. Glad I didn't see this at the theater. Were I not from Kansas, by way of Boston, I'd give it one star. As is, I'll give it the extra star because I recognized quite a few of the location shots. |

with me...without me....Tom Cruise is back in another summer movie that is high on action andlow on plot hole filler.Diaz is on board to assist as the female sidekick. Have you seen Mr andMrs Smith? Have you seen Mission Impossible 2? Have you seen True Lies?If you enjoyed these three movies, you will get something out of this. The film centres around a Macguffin known as the battery, which offerssomething to someone, and Cruise has his hands on it. He meets Diaz,Crash lands a plane, and spouts a one liner. Hilarity ensues. This carries on for the majority of the film, with Diaz falling more anmore for Cruise, one scene that for any person who has 1% knowledge ofmovies, knows that Cruise isn't dead, and other set pieces being rippedoff from other movies. But it's not bad. For one, it's a summer movie, so all reality isthrown out of the window, because it's a star vehicle, and the makersknow, that it will make some money. The plane sequence isn't as exciting as the makers would like it to be.In all fairness, it's quite silly, but it's the poorest part of thefilm. The warehouse scene is taken directly from Mr and Mrs Smith and TrueLies respectively. The train scene has connotations toward Ubder Siege2, and the bike set piece is totally ripped of from tomorrow Neverdies. But Cruise is great as always and lifts the film from absurdity. It'sfun while it lasts but it's nothing memorable. The editing is slick asare the effects, although you feel that Cruise had some say, becausewhen ever he does a huge jump or something dangerous, his head/body isput seamlessly on the screen (MI:2 is so ten years ago). It's great for a first date movie, it goes along at a steady pace andisn't offensive, but than again so was six days and seven nights. It's a summer movie of the highest order, and one of those movies thatwon't hold a special place in anyones heart who loves high concept.See it, feel guilty about seeing it, but enjoy it.It's not trying to be anything it isn't. |

Slick and well crafted - espionage with a hint of tongue in cheekCheck your brain in at the door, grab some popcorn (or whatever yourpleasure) and watch two of the words biggest screen stars play to theirstrengths. Knight and Day is an action comedy, which sees Cruiserebuilding his brand in the way that he knows best (wielding weapons, performing daring stunts whilst brandishing a wry smile). On top ofthat Diaz plays the sort of goofball Rom Com role that she has made herown her throughout her career.Cruise plays Roy Miller a rogue secret agent who is trying to protect aperpetual energy source and its creator from 'the bad guys'. A chanceencounter sees June Havens (played by Diaz) caught up in the situationand she finds herself being dragged along on an ultra-dangerous journeyto ensure the safety of Miller's charge and ultimately get her lifeback to normal. The film is slick, has some very well crafted and choreographed fightsequences, cracking car chases and a twisting and turning plot that, although not overtly testing, does keep it fresh throughout. And ofcourse the on-screen chemistry works well meaning the romantic side ofthe tale does hold up in the face of all that is going on. On thenegative side the string of time passage sequences and the smatteringof cheesiness in places did leave me squirming in my seat at timessomewhat. In summary if you're looking for some light entertainment with plentyof action Knight & Day will certainly put a smile on your face. Howeverdon't expect to remain in the realms of reality for long as this filmsteps off that plain pretty quickly and descends into a fanciful worldof clean cut espionage with a hint of tongue in cheek. Fresh is thekeyword here. |

I liked it a little more than Killers, but Knight and Day puts The Bounty Hunter to shame.I'm still trying to figure why this movie tanked at box office. I meanwhen i saw it, what i saw was a fun flick with two leads who havewonderful chemistry. The action was over the top, but thats what it wasmeant to be, like a Transporter flick that never takes itself tooseriously.June(Cameron Diaz) is trying to catch a plane home, to her sisterswedding. She bumps into Roy(Tom Cruise) a handsome polite stranger, whoshe thinks he is what he appears. When she gets on the plane with Roy,she quickly discovers he is not what he appears to be. When he killseverybody on the plane, mainly they all tried to kill him, now June isdrawn into his world of danger, not knowing if she will come out alive.Knight and Day was just an entertaining popcorn flick, it does not tryto be anything more. It had a little better action than Killers, but ithad a thousand times more laughs than The Bounty Hunter. Cruise andDiaz are great together, I hope they will team up again someday. Also agreat supporting role by Paul Dano(There Will Be Blood). |

SUPERCRUISEFaster than a speeding bullet, more powerfull than a locomotive, able to do the most invinceble way out things ever. No bullet can hit this man, yet he never misses. Look up on the screen, is it a bird , is it a plane not its Supercruise. What a load of rubbish and waste of time this movie was. |

Good storyThis review is from: Knight and Day (Single-Disc Edition) (DVD) The story was good. The computer generated action scenes reminded me of the first Mission Impossible. Why you ask. Because in real life they would be impossible. That's why it is a movie. Great fun, lot's of action, good ending. |

Entertainment at it's best............Tom & Cameron rock!!!!....a 10, yes TEN, for entertainment.. a great escape!!Before I say anything else, I have to say I have NEVER been a fan ofTom Cruise, and I was never crazy about Cameron Diaz either. But wow!!!this film rocks solid. I am glad I saw it because outside of"Collateral" Tom Cruise has NEVER impressed me. I have a lot of respectfor Tom if he can make films as entertaining as Knight and Day. I thinkTom's strength as an actor lies in the suddenness of the change in hischaracter and (in Knight and Day) Tom makes even the incongruence ofhis lines work brilliantly. For example Tom's lines bang in the thickof the highway chase are the coolest!! Knight and Day rocks solidbecause it never stops. Knight and Day is a thriller and comedy-romance all rolled into one,and doesn't PRETEND to be either because it doesn't take itself tooseriously. The chemistry between Cameron and Tom sparkles (or I am nojudge of chemistry). In the first 15 minutes the pace of the filmchanges from ordinary to mind-blowing. I totally loved the splitpersonality thing that happens when Cameron is in the toilet and out.And Cameron's reflections when she is in the toilet, esp. the lineabout the reflexes..so on message...because I was thinking the verysame thing.I don't know what it was about the dialogue but I thought it was sharpand funny :-), and Cameron and Tom made it fun. Tom has great and funnylines like "what number do you like?!!" (my quote may be a little off). They don't make entertainment like Knight and Day too often. So grab itwhile you can. After the first hour or so the film loses steam a TAD but picks itright up as soon as Cameron starts to see things clearly beginning withthe motor-bike ride.........Great non-stop entertainment....the film unquestionably earns it'sstripes...if you are ever looking for a fun film which has that specialsomething going for it, including dialogue (...okay lines) then Knightand Day is for you. |

Aren't all spy movies a little over the top? This review is from: Knight and Day (Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo+ Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I'm glad I went and ahead and picked up this movie, cause I thought it was pretty good. Great action movie with some good humor in it, Tom plays a pretty good over the top spy who's plans seem to always come together. If you want a fun movie your going to laugh at and some great action pick this up. |

One of the best movies of the year -- so underratedThis is what movies are meant to be -- great fun from start to finish with actors and a script and direction firing on all cylinders to create the most fun you will have at the movies this year. If you have ever liked tom cruise, this is a must see -- cameron diaz is superb and I cannot say enough good things about this movie. IT'S A MUST SEE. |

Wonderful film!I can't understand why anyone would not like this film. It's hilarious! The first 5 minutes are, admittedly, awful. I was cringing... But thenTom Cruise starts killing people to the track of Santa Maria by theGotan Project and Cameron Diaz starts babbling to herself in the mirrorof the airplane that they are both on at the time. From then on thefilm gets better and better and Cameron Diaz is perfect all the waythrough. It's over the top, but it's meant to be. I usually don't likeTom Cruise, but he is definitely growing on me. First Tropic Thunder, and now this! Oh. And it's a feel good film. Go and see it on a rainySunday night, and you'll be less gloomy about work on Monday. Trust me. - With me- Without me.:) |

Not much of a story here, but we enjoyed Cruise and Diaz together in a movie with lots of comedic elements.Momentus for us, this was our first Blu-ray rental from Newflix. Thepicture and sound are super, of course, but we were disappointed inabsolutely no extras. The key story element is a great new little battery invented by a boywonder. This little AA size battery never wears down, and has enoughpower for a submarine or a small city. So it has attracted theattention of the criminal element. The movie involves those who aretrying to steal it for ill-gotten gains and those who are trying toprotect it. However we never know until the very end which are the badguys and which are the good guys. But we can usually guess that TomCruise will be playing a good guy.Tom Cruise is Roy Miller, and as the movie begins he has the battery. He meets Cameron Diaz as June Havens in the Kansas airport, boarding aflight to Boston, seemingly by accident. But we later find out it wasnot accidental at all. Paul Dano is the inventor, the wonder boy, Simon Feck. I just keptasking myself, "If they just find Feck he can tell them how to buildthe battery."Anyway we enjoyed this movie as an action movie, and Cruise and Diazare very good together. Cruise always has 'gravity' in his roles, andDiaz has a similar 'gravity' here. When they are running together fromdanger, both of them are running equally. And her comedy chops matchthat of anyone. But overall the story is pretty simplistic, justsomething to create roles around. |

Mission Impossible for one manFor some reason, some actors cannot get outside of certain genres. And so it seems with Tom Cruise and the secret agent / good-guy renegade flicks. With Mission Impossible, Top Gun, Minority Report in tow, his latest action flick is along the same plot lines. Here he plays a renegade FBI agent who has gone outside the law to protect his charge, and picks up a tag-along along the way, played by Cameron Diaz. What follows is a lot of car chases, shoot-outs, fist-fights, rooftop escapes, and various other action scenes that seem a rehash of his previous action films. All in all, I'm glad I saw this on video and not in the theater. |

"Knight And Day" is excellent!"Knight And Day" is excellent! This is how the story goes: A woman is caught between a covert agent and those he claims set him up. As their globetrotting adventure erupts into a maze of double-crosses, close escapes, false identities, and head-spinning romantic snafus, they come to realize that all they can count on is each other. The cast led by Tom Cruise (as Roy Miller) & Cameron Diaz (as June Havens) is excellent! The directing by James Mangold (who also directed "3:10 To Yuma" (2007), "Walk The Line" (2005, also wrote the story and screenplay), "Identity" (2003), "Kate & Leopold" (2001, also wrote the screenplay), "Girl, Interrupted" (1999, also wrote the screenplay) & "Cop Land" (1997, also wrote the story and screenplay) is excellent! The story and screenplay by Patrick O'Neill is excellent! The music by John Powell (who also did the music to "Green Zone" (2010) & "How To Train Your Dragon" (2010), he also did the music to the upcoming "Rio" (2011) is excellent! The cinematography by Phedon Papamichael (who also did the cinematography to "Identity", "Walk The Line", "3:10 To Yuma", "The Pursuit Of Happyness" (2006) & "W." (2008) is excellent! The film editing by Michael McCusker (who also did the film editing to "Walk The Line", "3:10 To Yuma" & "Australia" (2008) & Quincy Z. Gunderson is excellent! The casting by Lisa Beach (who also did the casting to "Girl, Interrupted"), Sarah Katzman (both of did the casting to "Identity", "Walk The Line" & "3:10 To Yuma") & Donna DeSeta is excellent! The production design by Andrew Menzies (who also did the production design to "3:10 To Yuma", "The Uninvited" (2009) & "The Crazies" (2010), he was also an art director on "Avatar" (2009) is excellent! The art direction by Greg Berry (supervising art director) (who also did the art direction to "Reign Over Me" (2007), "3:10 To Yuma", "Edge Of Darkness" (2010) & "The Crazies") & Jeff Wisniewski (who also did the art direction to the upcoming "Real Steel" (2011) & "The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn" (2011), he was an assistant art director on "Avatar") is excellent! The set decoration by Jay Hart (who also did the set decoration to "3:10 To Yuma", "Edge Of Darkness", "Date Night" (2010) & the upcoming "Machine Gun Preacher" (2012) is excellent! The costume design by Arianne Phillips (who also did the costume design to "Girl, Interrupted", "Identity", "Walk The Line" & "3:10 To Yuma") is excellent! This is an excellent action-comedy that is rare and original than most action-comedies of late. This is fun and entertaining. This is one of the best movies of the summer. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are excellent together. |

What was that?I thought that this is a comedy, I thought that it would end like"Vanilla sky" or like someone's dream, but no, it was all for real. Iwatched it to the end, hoping that some reasonable explanation willoccur, but there was no any explanation. And even though I saw themovie two days ago, I don't remember how it ends, or what was thepoint. I couldn't even understand why is Cruise an agent, why is Cameron Diazin love with him, why can't I connect with the characters. It's noteven for kids. Who needs these kind of movies? Why? I like movies thatyou don't have to think about very much, like "Kindergarten cop", "Birdon a wire", "Lethal weapon", they are easy to watch, they areenjoyable, you feel entertained. I have nothing against jumping from amoving motorcycle, but only when I'm watching movies like "Matrix" or"Minority report". This movie insults me, insults my intelligence.I gave it a 2 because of those guys who did the special effects. Idon't want to get more into the details of all the bad bad things thismovie has, I just don't want to waste your time. |

Bad is not the word to describe this.Oh the wonders of Hollywood. They can make somebody a star and then -somehow keep them in that same place for years later. No doubt that this was a script written to be a spoof on spy moviessuch as James Bond - it had to be. There's no other way to take thisother than being a joke on them, however it's horrible. There were movies where Tom Cruise is good - if not great. Most of themovies he does suck, but I'm sure his reps and promotions people knewhow to turn his smile and perfect teeth into magic. The problem is that this movie - even though it's a joke on itself isjust boring and stupid. The leads being Hollywood celebs make this even worse than if the leadswere small unknowns and done with a smaller budget. No doubt that the main money spent here was to increase Tom Cruise'spaycheck and over-hyped career - but this waste of time movie shouldhave never been made by a Hollywood A-lister.There are far better movies on the action side of things - even done ona smaller budget. This is just a waste, but if Tom Cruise has hisfingers in something, you know it gets made. The more hyped and over the top action, well it gets pushed to the topof the heap in terms of producing. |

Don't botherA government agent and a woman cross paths, resulting in the two of them embarking on a mission to either protect or illegally sell a new form of energy production, depending on whom you believe to be on the right side of the law. A few too many coincidences prevent this from being a believable form of escapist summer entertainment, and the interaction between Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz is less than memorable. |

A MOVIE THAT DID NOT RECEIVE ITS DUEThis movie went through a long development hell before being released. It didn't do too well in the North American box office but it did respectably to good overseas. The problem was that they sold it as a romantic action picture when it's really more of an off the top comedy with romance and action elements. People going in expecting a high octane powered action piece would surely be disappointed. In fact, it breaks a lot of the action rules common to the action genre, like people small talking in the middle of a gun fight and breaking action flow. That said, if you go in knowing what they're trying to do you might appreciate it. This picture is reminiscent of some of the old films from the 70s like FUN WITH DICK AND JANE. It borders on screwball comedy at times but then dives back down into over the top action but it really feels like the action is in the background story wise as we learn more about the characters. I know that sounds weird but that was the gut feeling I received viewing this picture. CHARACTER/DIALOGUE: B to B plus; STORY/PLOT POINTS: B; GENRE ATTEMPT: C; AMUSEMENT/HUMOR: B plus; OVERALL GRADE: B; WHEN WATCHED: 01/11/2011. |
