Legends of the Guardians

He was 5 when he first saw it and he loved it so much I bought for his birthday. He really enjoyed the extras, learning about owls. He even surprised me at the zoo when he rattled off a few owl facts!

My FAVORITE 3D movie I own!...so far!

You know how some movies do the upconvert thing as a gimick? This is so not the case! They fly most of the movie, awesome for 3D....then they show all the elements: wind, fire, rain, ocean waves, giant swirls of blue magnetic magic. It is very interactive for at-home viewing. Plot reminds me a lot of the old cartoons like the Secret of Nim and so on. NO matter what your age, get this to actually let your 3D tV off of its leash.:)

Not A Children's Movie

3D Was Amazing. Kept my attention

SO me and the girlfriend sat down and she pulled this movie out. "NO, I am not watching that" and low and behold I lost the verbal debate as to what we are watching, cause she insisted I would like it, and boy did I ever. The graphics were flipping intense, the story line, the voice actors, the action just kept me enticed and the fact that I (20 years old) Loved this movie so much that I went out and bought for myself the next day. I only have great things to say about it

Outstanding Film

This 3D film was the best we have seen. Flawless animation and amazing acting. It was the perfect family film; exciting and entertaining. Beautifully shot and "epic" music. One of the best animated features we have seen. My son said it was flawless and "pixel perfect!"

Simply Amazing

Awesome! Truth or Fiction?

Legend of the Guardians – The Owls of Ga'Hoole was an awesome movie. Ilove this movie because it starts out with a legend and you aren't sureif it is true or not. We get to discover the truth behind the legendthe same time as the characters in the movie. The best part of themovie is when Soren and his friends are flying to find the Guardians ofGa'Hoole because I felt like I was a part of the adventure. My favoritecharacters in the film are Soren, Digger, Gylfie and Twilight. I likethem because they turn out to be the heroes even though you wouldn'tthink so at the beginning of the movie. One of the best parts of themovie is when Ezylryb shows Soren how to fly in a storm. He teachesSoren to trust his gizzard and helps him to become a legend himself.Digger and Twilight are the funniest characters in the movie. They arealways arguing and going back and forth about Twilight singing too muchand Digger saying too many owl jokes. It is hilarious! There are a lotof bad owls in this movie. The Pure Ones try to form an army of youngowls by taking them against their will. It is up to Soren and hisfriends to escape the Pure Ones and find the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. Iwould recommend this film for ages five and up. There are some scaryparts in the movie that smaller children may not like. Overall, themovie has a great storyline. 3D Mastery

The convergence is off in a few areas but the 3D effect is fantastic. The story is fine if predictable but the enjoyment is more in the visual journey that the story telling. Anybody with a 3D setup will not be disappointed.

This movie will just WOW your eyes. I am a movie buff, and this was the most stunning visuals i have ever seen. The owls are freaking gorgeous...lol...while watching this movie i thought to myself i actually wanted that white owl:0 The 2d version is great also. A friend came over and the kids were watching the dvd on their 37 inch hd tv...my friend was like WHAT IS THAT! lol. he couldn't stop looking at it(no joke it was that gorgeous). Had he seen it in 3d on my panny, he'd have tripped for real. If you want to get the most out your tv's visual's...this is a must buy. The 3d was better than Tangled 3d(which i still love) Step Up 3d(which is cool) and Tron 3d can't even come close...The trees, water, flying and fighting of the owls, the shiny feathers of the owls...everything about this movie...ridiculous in detail. GET THIS MOVIE!!! I know my review is saying the same thing...but i mean...you just got to see it to know what I mean. I have a panny gt25 3d tv also if that helps anyone out there looking to buy this movie. The greatest thing about this movie is that the story keeps you interested. Its not a movie where you buy only for the 3d. You will actually watch this movie...the 3d and beauty will just AMAZE you and the story is quite suspenseful. Also, I treat my 3d movies like a movie theater...meaning I wait til its nighttime, turn off the lights and enjoy.

Awesome Movie!

This movie is an awesome movie! Our entire family loves to watch this movie over and over again. I would recommend it to anyone because it has a great story, intense action, stunning animation, and will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions! I cant wait for the next one to come out.

What a great movie!

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen! I know kids who are just 5 years old and have seen this, and loved it. It's most definitely NOT scary. I think maybe the revievers who said this is scary were thinking of another movie. I don't know. The story is great, although a lot of action is packed into a short amount of time. Of course, the visuals are wonderful, which makes up for everything. I really hope there's a sequel, but that's not too likely. Again... please don't let 'scariness' keep you from watching this as a family movie! It's really too good to miss!

I was expecting a childish movie, and got something amazingly different...I loved it!

I'm usually picky on movies I watch, but I just had to see this. I mustsay that I was really impressed! The amount of animation and detailsput into this movie was just amazing. By the first five minutes I wasso intrigued with what was going on that I leaned in closer to thescreen. No, its not the best, but the attempts to prove how dark amovie can get was truly proved. The attempts to bring humor into itwas, honestly, a failure, but the fantastic plot and the personalitiesof each character surely made up for it. I wouldn't recommend thismovie to a younger audience, only because sometimes it can get a bitdark, and violence does occur. Fortunately, no blood or gore ever showsup like it was described in the books. Also, I found myself cringingand trying not to look away when all of the slow-motion stuff was goingon, especially when Soren was flying through the monsoon and fire. Itwas well done, but lasted long and did a bit too serious of close-ups.I'm being a bit too critical, but overall, this was a great film thatis definitely worth your money. If you have read the books like I have,then try to get over the fact that they changed, basically, everything.It is better to just critic over the movie itself than how well itfollowed the books. I give this movie a 9/10 for fantastic animation,unique, clever personalities of the characters, well-done plot, andgood voice acting. I recommend this to any movie lover!

Watch it for the Stunning Animation and nothing more

"Legend of the Guardians" is a stunning and breathtaking film, probablythe most beautiful looking film since "Avatar" but after you get overthat fact what then? I was really looking forward to this film and theanimation did not disappoint, however the film itself did. I literallygave it an extra star and half just for the amazing animation and allthe credit goes to the WB animation studios who have perfected bird andlandscape animation after the super hit "Happy Feet". This film has thedark tones and epic scale to be an awesome film but in the hands ofdirector Zack Snyder(300) its missing the heart. There are definitelythe moments where you can see Snyder's signature slow-mo epic-ness butover all it feels like its lacking and adults and kids a like mightfeel a bit bored. The 3D is great, better then most films this year,but it certainly doesn't out due "Avatar". If you are a fan animationor familiar with the source material its a wonderful treat to see thisin 3D or even 2D. What a Hoot!

The film is amazing, I absolutely loved it, the 3D animation isspectacular, the voice acting is incredible and the music ismesmerizing! Trust me, this is one film that actually lived up toexpectations, sure some parts were a bit forced but overall the film isfantastic. The film had a great message in it and a very frightingvillain, The Pure Ones remind me of The Nazis and Ku Klux Klan. Theanimation and fight choreography was very impressive and I'm very happythey got actors like Hellen Mirren and Geoffry Rush to voice in thefilm! Ultimately you will come out of the film and feel the money hasbeen well spent!

Overall a great great great visually spectacular, forget the glitches in story and just lost in the Wonderful world of Owls.

LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA'HOOL – CATCH IT ( B+ ) I think,graphics wise its one of the best animation movies I've ever seen. Thegraphics of the movie are par excellence and it's so real that it'shard to imagine. They made the owls just as they were originals and noteven for second a person feel that it's CGI. The only thing movie lacksis its story which is based upon the first three fantasy novels of"Legends of Guardians". There are many things in the movie which happentoo fast and become pretty predictable, like 1. Soren & Gylfie learnsto fly from Grimble extremely well in few hours before escape. 2. Sorenfinds Mrs. Plithiver. (Soren's nest-maid snake) at Twilight & Digger.3. Eglantine was kidnapped by Kludd & then Alomere bring Eglantine toGa'hool tree. There are few things in the movie which happens in prettypredictable way. Anyways, even though the story is flawed the graphicsare epic. The graphics are so good that my jaws literally dropped onfloor, as watching them fly, fight, flying in the rain and henceeverything about owls in this movie seems magical. I truly hope thatthe movie win an Oscars for its graphics, truly deserving. The owls gotsome really talented voice talents and they are remarkably used. RyanKwanten, Jim Sturgess, Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish, Joel Edgerton,Geoffrey Rush, Hugo Weaving, Sam Neill, David Wenham, Anthony LaPaglia,Miriam Margolyes, and Helen Mirren brought utmost freshness to themovie. Overall a great great great visually spectacular, forget theglitches in story and just lost in the Wonderful world of Owls.

Great Movie for the Family

This review is from: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) The movie is great, but dumbed down down a lot from the books. Some of the characters from the Guardians of Ga'hoole Books are in the movie, but the storyline has been completely rewritten and does not resemble the books except for the larger overall plot. If you've read the books and expect to see some of the side characters like, Ruby, Martin, Streak, Zan, Mist, and a handful of other characters and their roles throughout the books you will be disappointed. However that is not to say that the movie in itself is not a good movie. Its a great movie, and might be great for parents who what to get their children interested in the books. So to end it off, yes the movie is overall a great movie to watch for the young and not so young ones, but if you've read the Guardians of Ga'hoole Books don't try to compare the two, you'll just be heartbroken. Just enjoy it for what it is a fun, adventurous, and entertaining movie for the family.
