People actually watch it?

Would you watch a fascinating movie about Lincoln being an agent ofancestors of nazi Germany leaders, who decided to change his side?Yeah, right. A movie which perverted the fact in history and gavehistoric figure whatever character and origin a producer wants?Would you watch a story of Christ , who returned to earth with guns andgirls in bikini to fight the crime. OK there are lots of things we do when we are bored , even watchterrible movie.Well actually I watched one- the clash of titans, whichwas terrible treating Greek myths as a deformed fairy tale. If you wantto show humans as noble - make a story, a new story. Why would anyonedecide to take a well known concept, pervert it, the modify ,than makeactions movie and even try to give this movie any emotional subtext andmeaning? I mean seriously: "God lost His faith in humanity" - oh, comeon! If you want to play with religion why don't you care to learnsomething about it first.

To the writers of this "movie" - Shame on you, find another occupation.

The Good: Action scenes were fast and furious. The Bad : Everything else, the script, the dialog, the story, theacting.Watch one random episode of the TV show Supernatural, and you wouldhave a better show about Angels and Demons. In between the actionscenes, this movie was plain boring, with stereotypes and falseemotions. The tiny bit of story they told was generic and thenonsensical ending was pulled out of someone's rear (Deus Ex Machina).Dennis Quaid must have needed a new swimming pool to do this turkey ofa movie...bah! Think of all the people in Haiti that could have beenhelped instead of wasting money on this dud.

Maybe John Travolta Had it Right After All

You know…the more I think of Legion, the movie I watched last night, the more…I didn't like it.Usually, it's the other way around. Most times, I hated a movie atfirst, and after more and more thought, I find that I was too harsh. Inthis case, we have actual angels of Heaven above that use their metalwings for shields and actually get hurt with…bullets. Hmmm…This movie, Legion, is so much too like many other movies: The SeventhSign, The Mist, Michael, Dawn of the Dead, I Am Legend and evenTerminator 2: Judgment Day. It's a Trapped-Survivor film, whereas, agroup of clichéd "heroes" must band together for the unknown, scary andunrealistic monsters outside. SEE: Night of the Living Dead (or any ofthe Dead series) or Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight. So, now, we've established this movie is NOT original. Do they bringanything to the table? Well, sorta. We have a choose-to-be-fallen angelwho fell because God wanted: Noah's Ark II: Baby Got Back. Apparently,He's upset because mankind's, well, you know how bad we are, and hewants to send zombies and flies, yes, flies to wipe us out.Thankfully, a group of men and women – all with their fantastic (no,I'm joking) backgrounds - hold up with a know-it-all Michael, theaforementioned dropped angel, who happens to have a large number ofguns, unlimited ammo and Biblical knowledge to predict the bad/goodangels from their attack and to save an unborn child who supposedlysupposed to save ALL MANKIND.Incredibly, this "Good-VS-Evil" tale involves gun-toting angels andnever really dives into why the baby is the key to proving God wrong.Let's stop there. Who the bleepy-bleep can prove God wrong? Let's gofurther back: even if you don't believe in God, but you know what kindof being He is, do you really believe an action of an ex-angel and asingle mother can make God wake up and say: "Oops, My bad. Sorry, letme call off my rage"?It starts off good, improves with the presence of both a meanceiling-crossing granny and Dennis Quaid – though that's his weakestperformance/character to date and then progressively gets worse. Thereis nothing original or redeeming here. Just plain skip it. Read theBible. At least that "Good Book" doesn't contain all those incrediblyfake JAW DROPPING creatures. (Sorry, those, like the ones featured here– the ice cream man, or the all the baddies in I Am Legend, make melaugh so hard. C'mon, Hollywood. They're not scary, they look stupidand they're physically impossible…even for the supernatural.)

An Unfortunate Sacrilege to Watch

I understand that with a movie of this nature, where the good vs evil dynamic will come into question; as it converges upon those who must have faith regardless of which side they stand on, that the characters aren't going to be very developed and the story might have a few holes. The majority of them are expendable, hardly likable, easily will-broken or insane, etc... The ones that are more pivotal are still (unfortunately) not very likable. The location is depressing and desolate. I'm not exactly backing the baby will save the world scenario in this particular movie either. You wanna see it done better, see The Seventh Sign. The plot is simple: stay in the crappy, run down, diner until the baby is prematurely born while swarms of seemingly crazed, possessed people/creatures attempt to invade it, sky plunges into darkness, madness ensues, and oh we have an archangel armed to the teeth with automatic weapons who chopped his wings back in LA. Why didn't he just fall at the diner? Oh right, silly me, copious amounts of guns that do little to nothing to the hoards of things converging on the stronghold. People die along the way. There is plenty of useless dialogue that is used as an attempt to beguile you to the characters, but it doesn't.

Interesting!

I had no espectations from this movie, but I actually liked it. it is deeper than it seems to be and it brings a different view about angels and God, with mechanic weapons and collars. Maybe an alien race? Interesting!

I didn't think it was that bad, different strokes for different folks I guess. The beginning took a while but after the action started by trying to protect the girl it got better. Its a movie I would re watch again.

Seriously? So many people are disliking this movie. I, for one, lovedit. Legion was such a great movie in my opinion. I was drawn into themovie like a fish is on a hook. See, I am not a very tough critique, nor am I a weak one; I'm 14. I mean, I hated movies like The Uninvited. It sucked. Anyway, Legion was amazing. The effects were phenomenal. Iloved the plot and the movie freaked me out. Legion partially remindedme of Dawn of the Dead, and I'm a zombie movie lover. I love movieswhere people are being attacked. That sounds so mean XD But I answereda question on Yahoo! Answers. The person was wondering if they shouldwatch Legion. I said they should, despite everyone else saying "HellNo", and the person loved it. I guess everyone's opinion differs, butthat's mine :D

not half bad at all unlike what critics and others say! it's pretty darn good actually!!!

i gotta say this movie delivers a strong impression that is not a badone! it's surpringly easy to follow and understand unlike what ioriginally thought as complicated and religious. well-acted, esp. PaulBettany as the savior, very strong performance, might resurge hiscareer after all! the rest is very very good, great cast, the old ladyscares the bejeesus out of me BIG-TIME, one of the most menacinglycreepy i've seen, as im pretty tough-skinned when it comes to horrormovies. i gotta say critics and many others who downplayed this movieare quite in the wrong spot. it's a great story of human sacrifices andwhat it takes to survive, to continue. the value of human life isheavily emphasized upon in this movie. humanity is such a double-edgedknife that they can grow stronger or they can very easilyself-destruct. thus, God has given up on us. also, it takes extremereason to defy reason, such that is one in Michael, when he valourouslydefies God, his master, out of nowhere, to defend doomed humanity atall cost, even his life. such extreme inexplicable reason must beheard, must be validated that maybe humanity must have a reason to haveexisted for so long and really is worthy of continuity. i guess themessage is: please do not take end-imminent experience to startappreciating what you have.

Horrible Movie!! Lost its potential.

Every character is a one-dimensional stereotype. Dialogue is shallowand could have been written by the average high school creative writingstudent. Acting... TERRIBLE! In short, a terrible script, poorly acted. For instance, the angel Michael shows up and tells a woman that "Angelswant to kill your baby!" She whines back, "But I don't even have acar!" Between moments of angelic terror (not all that terrifying to theviewer), are these droning conversations of touchy-feely contrivedmonotony between people who the viewer never connects with or caresabout. We began to root for god to destroy mankind so we wouldn't haveto listen to these people anymore. We sat through the movie laughing atjust how BAD it was! (Think 1950's B-movie, but unintentionally). Atsome point, we had to pause for a moment and wonder whether it wasactually meant to be a comedy, but sadly, no. What a disappointment. The movie had so much potential, but every dimension of the movie fellshort of success. I thought it was worth seeing because I can'tremember having ever seen such a bad movie or laughing so much in along time, but my Friend said that he not only wants his money back, but wants victims compensation for having sat through it.

Revenge from above

Despite the god (no pun intended) awful reviews by most users here, Ifound Legion very entertaining and fun. Those who probably hated itit's probably because they're religious or think they are Roger Ebertor some hotshot critic. True, there are many, many loose ends in thestory and plot holes the size of the grand canyon, but despite theseobvious flaws, Legion remains an entertaining movie. Why is it so hardto believe that the almighty is a vengeful being? After all, accordingto the bible, he's wiped out cities like Sodom, sent plagues to theFaroes and killed humans many times before, so why it is so hard tobelieve Legion's premise that he's out to wipe out the human race. I'ma catholic and found the premise believable, if any of this apocalypticjargon is to be true. Angel Michael disobeys God's orders oftermination and decides to aid a barricaded group of humans at a lonedesert diner. Supposedly, the waitress of this diner carries in herwomb the second coming. Him being born will be a sign that humans willlive on. Apparently God is SO angry that he won't let his second-cominglive. Why??? Well, as I said before, he let Jesus died, so why not saveall pain and sorrow and kill his son before he gets born?Legion could've expanded on a more solemn message and more backgroundon his second coming would've been nice. These "story opportunities"would've made for a more satisfying movie, but at its core, Legion is asimple blood and guts movie, simple as that. The premise of the movielent itself for grander things, but writer/director Scott Stweart keptthings a bit too simple. It's weird seeing "good guys" like angelstrying to wipe out humans, instead of demons or devils. Yet, angelsadopt a demon-like quality when they posses humans, which will have youasking if the almighty and the devil are really that different. The ending could've been more solemn, but I repeat: Legion will pleasegore and action film fans alike. People looking for answers and devoutreligion heads will surely hate this film. I haven't had so much fun watching a movie this intense in a long time.

By far one of the BEST...sorry, WORST movies of all time!

Don't you just love these intelligent movies with award winning scripts that take place in the middle of nowhere, USA? This is one of them. It's a shame that Dennis Quaid and Nicolas Cage, among others, shoot every movie they can get their hands on.This hilarious movie is just another end-of-the-world scenario with a judgment-day twist and, of course, the ultimate good vs. evil battle. It, yet again, takes place in a shithole in a desert in Nowhere, USA. Believe it or not but the extremely intelligent plot says that a dumb waitress in a diner carries the child that can save humanity! If the child dies, humanity will go extinct. AMAZING! Who came up with that?? Give the man an Oscar!!The movie is filled with plot holes, some of the worst dialogues in movie history, wooden characters and cheesy effects. Oh, and there is a little bit of action! Ah yes, and a funny scene where one of the main charactes gets his back covered in acid stuff and he dies without expressing any pain or fear. Brilliant! What a tough guy he was! This movie might frighten small children, but teenagers and adults should keep their money and spend it on something else. It is not worth it. You will find yourself fast-forwarding half the movie just to reach the silly end of it.

'Legion' tries to do too much and falls flat

I just got back from watching Legion. I knew going in there that thereviews were awful, but I still fancied giving it a real chance. So we start with many non-sensical scenes. One of Michael (PaulBettany) just prodding around what we later assume (if one even caresto try and figure out the plot after seeing it) is downtown LA. He cutsthe area where his wings were, and sews the wounds up.Tyrese Gibson shows up at a diner and seems very strange, like he's onthe run or something, but that's not explained either so who cares. Then there's some talk in the diner, every character gets their chance.Including Dennis Quaid, who obviously thinks the script is garbage andjust plays his character comically (to good effect). Some old lady shows up, and from the camera angles and score, we knowthere is something not quite right. Then crazy stuff happens that isn'treally explained, Michael shows up, there's lots of fighting, Gabrielshows up, nothing is explained. Mankind will either live, or die. I found this movie weak on plot, and it's lack of follow through on anyof the major plot points is a let down. However, take the whole thingwith a pinch of salt, laugh inappropriately and Legion is not all bad.One wonders whether the humour was intentional, but it certainly isthere. Legion really is only for those who enjoy to laugh at a ridiculous plotand scenes that are seemingly random. Also, the action isn't half bad,but you really don't root for any of the characters, so it comes downto seeing the best explosions/deaths. 4/10.

Legion Review

LEGION STARRING: Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Adriane Palicki, Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Charles S. Dutton, Kevin Durand, Kate Walsh, Willa Holland, Jon Tenney and Jeanette Miller WRITTEN BY: Peter Schink and Scott Stewart DIRECTED BY: Scott Stewart Rated: R Genre: Action / Horror Release Date: 22 January 2010Review Date: 21 February 2010Legion certainly has its moments and could have very easily been an amazing film. It has two major components that keep it from being one. 1. Its premise is completely contradicting and absurd 2. It has no idea what kind of movie it wants to be. The premise is that God has lost faith in all of us and has sent his angels down to earth to wipe us out. By wipe us out, I mean brutally murder us all and using adolescently foul language while doing so. It's kind of like Dogma meets Schindler's List. I'm not kidding, that's really it. Oh, but if this woman's child who will be born out of wedlock, is in fact born - then we will all be saved... right. By saying "it has no idea what kind of movie it wants to be"; I mean that it has so many different thematic elements, that it's almost confusing for us as to which human emotion we are supposed to react with. Are we supposed to be emotionally moved, or terrified, or laugh-out-loud? At one point we are given honest, gut wrenching, Oscar worthy performances, and then we are given the most juvenile, profanity filled clichés and one-liners.I can appreciate what the filmmakers were trying to do comedic-ally with the film, but they fail in nearly every scene. They want to create suspense and action with comedy lurking in the shadows. The best example of what they were aiming for would be Signs; which perfected this tact flawlessly. Legion goes over-board with the comedy and it takes us completely out of the moment. There's too much of it, it's used at the wrong moments, and it's entirely the wrong breed of humor altogether. For example, there is one moment in the film where we have spent a long time admiring a particular character for his good behavior and positive attitude. Rather than give him something clever or heroic to say to the Angel who's about to slay him, his response is diminished to a flashy "F**k You!" Don't get me wrong, I'm not a prude and profanity does not bother me; unless it's being used to just be used. This was tasteless, unoriginal and the character would never say it. Come to think of it, nearly every character in the film at some point has some cheesy one-liner with a strong slur attached to it. Why? How are we supposed to be invested in the suspense and the seriousness of the situations at hand, when we are constantly being taken back to fifth grade gym class? Paul Bettany stars as the Lord's faithful Angel Michael. Thank God he's in it (no pun intended), because his performance is the main attraction. He was terrific and more than convincing that he dropped out of the sky with a purpose: to save mankind. Michael has faith in us and has defied God and will do everything in his power to keep an unborn child from being slaughtered. The child's mother is Charlie (Adriane Palicki), and we get the feeling that she's a bit of a slut; so why she is chosen to bare this child is beyond me. Her character has no arc, or moment of redemption, at least that I saw. And on the subject of her being `chosen' to bare this child - if God wants us all dead, then why would he care if this child was born? It's his orders that send all of the angles from heaven to annihilate us (specifically this child), so why would he allow this to even be a possibility? You can take it a step further and ask yourself why he never stops Michael; surely he knew Michael would defy him. Movies in the past have worked because God allows certain things to pan out. But the fact that he would wish for something to be carried out, but allow something to contradict it - makes no sense at all! The film does wrap everything up in the end and it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but is still far from plausible (meaning related to religion - not science). The God I know loves us and would not have angles come down from heaven, possess people, and then brutally murder them while using harsh language. Yes, there was the great flood, but that was far more civil than this and let's not forget that the rainbow is a symbol of his covenant with us, that he will never give up on us again (see Genesis). My God is not one to go back on his word either. There are some really cool action sequences that were filmed beautifully and all the actors did the best with what they had to work with. Charles S. Dutton was outstanding in particular. I'm not sure why Lucas Black's character has an accent and Dennis Quaid's doesn't - being his father, but they both did great jobs too. Had the filmmakers taken their project more seriously and not made such a mockery out of having an old lady turn into a monster and crawl around on the ceiling; or not had a creepy kid with a knife doing things that far too many creepy kids with knives have done in the past; then it would have been better. If they wanted to scare us, they could have; they almost do. If they wanted us to be on the edge of our seats, they could have; we are - until we break out laughing at some ridiculous line like, "He doesn't look like any policeman I ever saw ... even one from L.A."

Terminator Remake

This movie is pretty good with good visual and action. The zombies are not cheesy or overly done like the others. What makes this movie good is that it copies exactly down to the bone scene by scene from The Terminator 1 movie. Same sequences and everything from start to finish. They are not going to remake/remaster the old Terminator movie. This is as close as you can get for a remake with a different skin. I like Dennis Quaid from his old movies. I am hoping he has a bigger role in this movie.

Never trust old women with shark teeth that order rare steak

A baby is going to determine if the world stays dark or if it returns to light. In the meantime, God has decided on the darkness side, and has sent his generals - and some other ugly little ducklings - along to ruin humanity's ride. Micheal doesn't see things that way and a hook-armed cook (they stopped using those a while back, didn't they?), a dad and his smitten son, a yuppy couple and their daughter, and an woman with an eigth-month pregnancy are all that remain between the purging of humanity or the possible salvation. This movie would have been better if a person read the comic series introducing it before it launched. Still, it didn't have the feel-good stomping that the ads promised - nor did I expect it to. What i thought I would get was a lot of bloodshed, some angelic fighting, a lot more bloodshed, and some slaughter. I didn't count on the stops for the moments that are all crying and filled with "I really hatte you time-outs," or the ease by which our crew is tricked (oops - I left one of them out of my description - o well.). The acting hurt here, as did some of the story plots. The place that it all took place in wasn't really that grand, either, and it made things worse. There were some things that did not make sense, either, like the way people hesitated in dispersing bullets when they saw something bending and contorting or when they saw an army gathering at the doorsteps. Also, the angels were not really that much of an army. I know that prosthetics and guns are scary, but really. That said, I did like some things and won't say that I hated the movie. It gets a three because of that, because the three means "I likeed it." The old woman in the preview was really screwed up, as were some of the other things. still, the preview burned a lot of juice from this puppy and that was a shame. It made it look like more and, really, I can say rent it, but rent it only if you need a horror fix.Not Sci-Fi channel bad, but not good to the last drop. Be careful here
