If you really disliked 300

check out Meet the Spartans. When I watched 300 it bothered me becauseit took itself so seriously and it didn't have much of a story. Thisdoesn't have much of a story either and yes it is a rip off of 300 butit is aware that it is stupid and it is a fun diversion. I'm sure if Iwas a fan of 300 I would think this movie sucked but since it isn't thecase, I have to say I enjoyed the movie with all its stupid humor,advertising within the film, and all the pop culture references. Thismovie will definitely be very dated later on but for right now itsfunny. However if you haven't seen 300 and don't watch much TV itsreally not going to be much fun at all. Most of the humor assumes thatyou have seen these popular shows like American Idol, Deal or No Deal,& etc. My friend hadn't seen 300 so they didn't appreciate much of thehumor. Make sure you at least see 300 first and if you didn't like ityou may enjoy this.

What did you expect

Just as bad as the movie they are trying to make fun of. Terribleacting, cinematography, plot, storytelling, overall direction and soon. The only thing that makes this movie better than the patheticrecreation of the battle at Thermopile ("300") is that it is meant tobe a comedy. I guess if you are really bored and have plenty of moneyto spend, but no nearby charity to donate $9 to, and the only moviethat is playing is this one, then sure, go see it. Otherwise, be wise,stay away, and do something better with your life. Try, for examplewatching some international, or domestic independent films. There is alot more out there than Hollywood.

A epic fail

The only satisfaction you will get from this flick is if you pick thismovie up and give it to the person you hate most. That way you can feelas if you murdered apart of them when they watch it.If for some morbid reason you still feel the need to watch this or arejust mildly retarded.I would go with the ladder and just stab yourselfin the face a few dozen times. Not only will it be more entertainingyou will be less bored.In fact your friends will find it more comicalthan this film.If you are Hardcore and wish to test your willpower and endurance thisis the perfect movie. I will advise however it will shave 5 yrs offyour life. Do you know how it feels to be loved? If so watch this andyou will know how it feels to be worthless. Do you know what it feelslike to be worthless? Well watch this and you will probably offyourself.

Subtlety is an art form

Honestly, is America so dense that the only thing that we respond to ispop culture and anatomical references? I don't believe that AaronSeltzer and Jason Friedberg even find this tripe funny. However, I dounderstand that everyone has a mortgage to pay.When this movie opened, it accumulated 18.5 million dollars. If weassume that the average ticket price is $10, that obviously means that1,850,000 people consciously decided to spend their free time watchingthis movie. That doesn't even include the the hordes of internetdownloaders who saw it for free.This kind of comedy almost makes Adam Sandler look brilliant. Iwouldn't mind so much if it were an isolated incident, but it seems tobe a recurring trend as the directors/writers have already establishedsome sort of career with Scary Movie all the way to Epic Movie. EvenMel Brooks concocts somewhat original titles.If we want better movies, we have to stop giving credence to tabloidsand demand that our intelligence not be insulted.

Do not watch, waste of time and money!!!

This film is the worst film I have ever seen in my life. If you do goto see it please do not kid yourself that it will get better throughthe film it stays the same boring pathetic self for all the long onehour and 23 minutes that it goes on. This film is the perfect cure toinsomnia. If you want to see the best this film has to offer pleasesave yourself the time and money and just watch the adverts.The film is awful at best, the actors have tried their best (it must besaid). But nothing could save this film. There are way too many thingsthey have tried to spoof, not just films but famous people. It does getridiculous the amount they have tried to cram in to the film. And a lotdoes not make any sense at all.

Awful!!!

I am so glad Kevin Sorbo was in this movie or I would have totally wasted my money renting it. I found the endless gay references were getting tiresome and just weren't amusing at all. I am usually not bothered and sometimes amused by crude humor but this was on a level where I just kept finding myself completely grossed out. Perhaps I'm am getting more delicate with age but this is just ridiculous! It seems as if people are not given credit for the ability to find subtle humor amusing. Usually Lampoon movies are more silly and have more slapstick but this was more along the lines of yucky and stupid.

These two idiots have turned a story about the heroic death of 300 meninto one sick joke.....maybe they should look at their ownheritage...there is a lot to make a crap movie about there. Don't watch this if you have taste or a sense of humour

That was one of the worst films i have ever had the misfortune to haveseen, the jokes were weak and pointless, they have tried to sound likethere cool and modern by including things like the fat guy from Borat,but they fail.Most of it does not even make any sense, they have to describe theirjokes to the audience and i would bet you that even the most stupid,mental ill person would see that this film is a waste of time andeffort.In fact this film annoyed me so much that i felt like trowing the TVout of the window to end the pain, it was that irritating. And rememberthe tasteless idiots responsible for this travesty are also responsiblefor Disaster movie, date movie and scary movie. I can not understandwhy these people are allowed to continually make these films.The acting isn't much better, there is not one person in this fill whoi wouldn't give a razzy to, they were appalling. Not even one of theactors in it were remotely gifted, of course it was not helped thatnone of their characters had an one bit of charisma or charm. It is anugly attempt to just use a series of you tube clips, act them out andcall them characters.The only way i didn't give it a 1 is because: 1-The begging was not toobad, it even made me smile, but when they got onto the stupid gay jokesit was the begging of the end. 2-1 Is reserved for the very worst ofthe worst and only Superbabies 2 gets that.This infantile piece of crap should never have been made, it isimmature, vulgar and not even funny. 300 is not a good film anddeserves a spoof but this just makes a average film look good. A waste of an hour

After spending £7 to view this utter crap it would appear i spent moreon my cinema ticket than the film company did on actually making thefilm. When writing a review i usually include both good and bad aspectsof the film however their are no good aspects to this film. The jokeswere predictable and in bad taste. The acting was poor to say the leastand overall it was simply a dreadful film. I struggled to understandwho would actually like this film, no one who possesses an IQ couldpossibly have found it entertaining. I feel sorry for anyone else thathad to watch this and warn anyone who is planning to.The only goodthing about the film was the ending...because then it was over.

Jason Friedberg & Aaron Seltzer are hacks

Anyone who would remotely consider themselves to be a fan of the spoofgenre would reject this trash. I'll be the first one to admit thattaste is subjective, but the guys that made this movie lack any sort oftalent for this type of movieI implore anyone to check out the following spoof movies: Airplane! Top Secret The Naked Gun The Naked Gun 2 1/2 Hot Shots HotShots: Part Deux Kentucky Fried Movie (yes, its "old" but a classicnone the less) Mafia! BASEketball Scary Movie 3 Sacry Movie 4 Not all of these are great. Many are a product of their era. Some aredownright "average" spoof movies, at best. But compared to "Meet theSpartans" (or Epic Movie or Date Movie) they are a BILLION timesbetter. And they have one thing in common... Zucker / Abrahams / Zucker(also must give props to writer Pat Proft). These guys INVENTED thisgenre. Watch these films and you will realize Jason Friedberg & AaronSeltzer are talentless hacks who think just making a reference to popculture is funny. If Jason Friedberg & Aaron Seltzer are reading this, I suggest youmight want to watch these movies as well. You might learn a thing ortwo.

Worst movie i've seen in a theater

I was recently forced to sit through Meet the Spartans. Ill start bysaying that i'm very sick of all this epic/date/scary movie junk. It'sbeen overdone and only appeals to people under the age of 9. The humorin this movie was just as awful as i thought it would be and i couldpredict the entire movie. I was told before-hand that it was only about90 minutes, and was a little upset id be paying for that. Afterwatching the movie i was beyond glad that i only had to be tortured forthat long, rather than the usual 2 hours. I'll close by saying that ifyou're forced to watch this movie, rip your eyes out of your skull andpour salt into your head. It will be much more enjoyable.

This was a very funny movie. i loved this movie and can't hardly wait til it comes out on DVD! I will have to see the unrated version really soon to.I loved scary movie (all of them) so i have the rated ones & unrated ones to! still working on to get epic movie and date movie unrated also!

I tried to like this movie....

I really tried to like this movie. I normally enjoy irreverent comedyand when I saw the previews and trailers, I thought this would be goodto see. Well man was I wrong. Where to start, hmm? The over the topsluttiness of Carmen's character? The repeating fixation on gayinnuendos? The lack of a coherent storyline? Maybe the ridiculous dancesequences? Well rather than boring you with the details, let's just saythis movie is terrible. Bad acting, bad story, bad effects (I thinkthis part was on purpose). BAD! BAD! BAD! While there were a few chuckles, for the most part, I tuned out. Forthis, you may argue that I didn't watch the entire movie and shouldn'tcomment on it. I counter that argument by saying that only a masochistwill subject themselves to every minute of this movie.

300 bad jokes

As much as I loathed "300" and liked the idea of a comedy based on thisvisually stunning but otherwise sorry effort, "Meet the Spartans"failed to deliver anything satirical or humorous. It was mildly amusingto see Ken Davitian (the short-statured, obese and hairy guy from"Borat") in the role of Xerxes, but that was the only aspect of thismovie that made me smile for a second."Meet the Spartans" left the impression of a cheap low-budget moviewith a script that could have been written up within 20 minutes.Neither "your mother is so fat/ugly that..." lines nor theincorporation of YouTube videos (Chris Crocker) were too low for thewriters. The rest consists of the much expected "Spartans are gay" gag,which is rehashed over and over, and feeble jokes about variouscelebrities (Britney Spears, Paris Hilton etc). On the positive side:The movie is mercifully short, only 84 minutes of which almost onethird is filled with the credits.Conclusion: Don't waste your time. But even more important, think twicebefore you reward this cheap attempt to profit from the "300" maniawith your hard-earned bucks. The producers invested neither the moneynor the effort to deserve it.

Excruciatingly unfunny. Should be a zero score.

More from the unfunny writers and directors who gave us "Epic Movie"and "Date Movie" but this time there are no laughs to be found. Andreally, I was hoping it would be funny. The film is startlinglyunoriginal and plays like a 3-min "Saturday Night Live" sketch that hasbeen stretched out to 84 mins. Bad acting, terrible casting, worsespecial effects and a literally non-existent laugh-to-joke ratio, thisfilm was torture to sit through. The directors couldn't even get theso-called celebrity "look-a-likes" right. Seriously, if they hadn'thave said "Hey that's Paris Hilton" or "Ugly Betty" or "Lindsay Lohan"you would not have recognized the "celebrity." There is not one laughin the entire 84 minutes. How this got through test screenings isbeyond me. Does 20th Century Fox not read scripts anymore before theycommit millions of dollars to a production?

they don't care anymore

once apon a time warp in the 80s, the best spoofs were made, naked gun,spaceballs, airplane, i miss the good ol'days. now spoofs are aboutrandom references and stealing jokes (chastity belt = robin hood men intights). this film don't have a plot! its just Dip$#!ts running aroundsaying "its --- from ---"! not to mention too much advertising. CarmenElectra (whos always sexy) wasn't sexy in this one! Ken Davitian, why?your the guy from Borat have some dignity! good thing Tony Cox (theblack midget) wasn't in this one(i thought he would play a midgetVenom). if Mel Brooks made this film it would be 10 times better. theZucker brothers can make this funnier

Its gotten bad

Look, im an open person, and I generally love spoof movies. Dont be a menace, Scary Movies 1 and 2. But ever since 2006, when they released Scary Movie 4 and Date movie, which were complete trash, I've given up. These movies seem to be made for young children, and Pop culture references are funny, when well written and craftily designed. But these are not and they are terrible. They need to stop making these movies, but they turn a profit, so it continues. Epic movie, Date Movie, The Comeback, This, and Superhero movie, are all trash, and they are making a Scary Movie 5 and Date Movie, This needs to stop, sorry im not in 8th grade anymore and these are not funny. David Zucker has really lowered the bar, Airplane, Naked Gun, and even BASEketball were funny, this is just trash

I cannot believe that this kitschy, unintelligent, cheap-shot excusefor entertainment was committed to celluloid. If you've seen the movie's trailer, you've been treated to most of thegags already. If you haven't seen any of the original films itparodies, or are unaware of the pop culture references it pokes fun at(Britney and K-Fed, anyone?), don't worry, the filmmakers areconsiderate enough to hit you over the head with them. If youappreciated any of the films it desperately tries to make jokes from,then by all means, avoid it. I don't blame the actors,writers or director for the grievousexperience I had watching this film. I blame myself. It was anextremely regrettable act, and you would do yourself a favor not makingthe same mistake.

Quite Funny!

They of course make fun of the movie "300". Even though I liked a lot "300", I appreciated the way "Meet the Spartans" made fun of it.They made fun of the movie themes, characters, and story line. They even made fun of famous celebrities such as Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Linsey Lohan, and others. They mocked the movie in every way possible, and they did a great job at it I must say.The movie is a Must See!
