Best live action 3D, almost beast AvatarThis review is from: Step Up 3 (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I am not into Dance movies and bought this only to enjoy 3D based on the reviews. It turned out to be the best in my collection and highly recommended if you are into 3D. The guys who made this know what they are doing and their maturity with this new technology is not seen any other live action 3D movie. The 3D titles at the end susms it all up with vibrant colors, best pop out and dept effects. A few times the 3D is so real that you feel as if you are on the dance floor and you duck as the dancers jump towards you. May time they poke their hands at you which is very realistic. |

AdequateLet me say from the outset that while I'm a big fan of 3D, I'm not abig fan of dance, especially modern dance. I don't care for the music, and I don't much like modern dance techniques. Having said that, itdoesn't mean that I don't appreciate the amazing gymnastic skills andphysical dexterity shown by every dancer in this movie. I might notlike it very much, but I'm more than happy to acknowledge howstunningly impressive it is and, if you are a fan of this style ofdancing, then it will blow you away.Although it is clear that the movie is a sequel (right from the startit is obvious that certain characters have an established screenhistory), this doesn't matter - it stands perfectly well on its own.The story is basically the same as the English entry in this genreearlier this year, Street Dance 3D - good but impoverished dance grouptake on bad but wealthy dance group in hight profile dance tournament, overcoming various hardships and personal betrayals on the way. Thisone has an additional subplot where amazing dancer geek Moose keepsignoring his old best (girl) friend and risks desiring his relationshipwith her. There is a sequence which tips its hat (literally) to both Gene Kellyand Fred Astaire, and it was comforting to see that these youngsterscan do it the old-fashioned way too.I thought the 3D was often really effectively used.If you don't care for the dancing, the movie just about reaches "O.K."If you do, though, then you are one of the people it was made for, andyou'll love it. |

Entertaining teenage Dance DramaThis is an entertaining movie from beginning till end with somesplendid dance scenes throughout. yes it mildly reminds me of SaturdayNight Fever but more so recently of Karate Kid, 17 going on 30 and evenHigh School Musical 3 if only for the finale in all these films whichseems to be about 'living the American dream' - whatever that is.This film is aimed obviously at teenagers and my son (aged 12 nearly13) absolutely loved it. It made for entertaining viewing to thismiddle aged gentleman and there were sensitive boy-girl moments whichwere slightly emotional towards the end.Not one word of bad language, nothing in any way offensive in a sexualsense or related to drugs; this was a nice clean film to watch on aSunday afternoon, make no mistake.Don't know anything about Step Up 1 and 2 and I have no expertknowledge on dancing, I just know that the dance sequences wereentertaining and I particularly enjoyed the one half way through thefilm when Luke was dancing with his girlfriend in the street 'with themusic turned up'.In a funny sort of way, the film reminded me of 'Hairspray'.Don't knock good clean fun entertainment, this movie is definitely inthat category. Credit to the actors, whether you call them dancers oractors up to you.Students at my school love Luke to bits and seem to prefer him overallto Twilights Robert Pattinson, interesting! |

EhhhThe Step-Up movies are great movies located in a influential dancingcity, Baltimore. This movie has a good plot of them going tointernationals, but since they moved from Baltimore to New York itslike any other dancing movie. The first two were good because they werein a city most people weren't familiar with, but since its ANOTHERmovie in New York it is going to be hard to get trough. Also this movieis not staring the two main characters from Step Up 2. Also, in Step Up2 they failed to keep the same people as the original Step-Up. TheseStep-Up movies aren't following the rules of a "trilogy". One theydidn't keep the same city, didn't keep the same actors, and didn't keepthe same dancing style. This movie series is a fail |

like everybody else hereThis review is from: Step Up 3 (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) the 3D is many times awsome in this movie. I loved the battles as well as the time when the colored drinks comes up at your face. the plot in general is pretty bad.Nothing better than movies filmed with the panasonic 3D camera ... |

Watch solely for the dancingNo one watches these movies because they think they're cinematic genius (at least, I hope not). While I thought the original had a decent plot and relatively well-developed characters, the third installment is more of a dance showcase thinly connected by a cliche plot. But since I really wanted to watch this for the dance elements, I was OK with that. Solely viewed for the dance, this film is easily a 4-5 star film. As a film (with an actual plot and good characters) it's a one-star film (combining the two is where I got the three stars). I mean, honestly, you've seen this film before. Boy meets girl, falls for girl, girl has 'secret' (which you can guess from the get-go) that is revealed, crushing boy's heart. Girl comes through in the clutch and they lived happily ever after. This is essentially a rom-com with a dance twist. But what a dance twist! The dancing is wonderful and Luke is very nice to look at (though he doesn't really do all that much dancing, which is a shame). Rent/buy this because you love dancing or just want a fun, easy to watch film (movies don't have to be serious cinema). |

Love love love! All right, so reading some of the absolutely appalling reviews aboutthis movie, I just want to ask...what did you think you were going towatch? You're not watching this in hopes of watching an Oscar winner. This isjust one of those movies where you're watching for the jaw-droppingdance moves which is totally enhanced by the use of 3D.I absolutely LOVED it. I went in, expecting the cheese drippingdialogue, the "deep" conversations and cardboard acting. The DANCE isthe reason I shelled out the $13 in ticket price and 3D glasses. The haters need to stop their crying. They should have known betterabout what they were going to watch.-R |

Good... but not greatWatched this on Netflix, it wasn't in 3D, so throughout, the film was pretty blurry and fuzzy. It was a good dancing movie, but that's it. It is simply only a dancing movie, as far as anything else, it sucks! Some very good dance scenes, makes me wish I could dance. Hopefully, this is the last one. Also glad we didn't waste money seeing this one at theaters. |

Great, But..Great story, some poor acting by the "bad guys" and the 3-D is barely par. However, great movie overall.. makes me want to learn to dance! |

Spectacular Choreography with Soul. An Inspiring Double-Major.If urban street style dancing is exactly what you are looking for, youwill be overwhelmed by its dance sequences that are full of vigour andattitude. Aiming to inspire the younger generation, Step Up 3 hits theright spot with its remarkable dance choreography that rendershigh-spirit sentiments among audience in recommended 3D format.Let's face it, there is not much act and substantial plot in thisproject. But with a whole lot of dance action. A film with dance as itssoul (where it shines in exuberance) with a sub-plot to the characters'inner struggle with various focus in life to illustrate how one pursuesdreams amidst life challenges. In the case of Moose, it is hisengineering degree and best (girl) friend, Camille, versus his pursuitof dance. While for the other leading character Luke, it is his dilemmabetween his talent (film-making) and passion (dancing).Step Up 3D depicts Luke's situation further as it actually fusesdancing with film-making, by featuring urban street dance in a featurefilm. Undoubtedly, this is how Step Up 3D wins hands down as aconvincing dance genre. Featuring documentary style footage of hisdance crew citing inspirations, this brings a whole new dimension tothe purpose and origins of street dance."Why do you like to dance?", questions the film.In amazement, the characters experiment and explore the underlyingtruth behind what's fueling them to engage street dance with suchrelentless determination. "People dance because dance can changethings. One move, can bring people together. One move, can make youbelieve like there's something more. One move, can set a wholegeneration free.", says Moose who cites Michael Jackson as one of thelegendary examples. This is what elevates Step Up 3D away from the first two installments, other than being in 3D.But wait, there's more. The most significant quality of this film definitely derives from thespectacular choreography by Jamal Sims and his team, performed by theon screen dancers and nicely captured by Cinematographer Ken Seng. Allunder the direction of Jon M. Cho. All of these goodness will be bestexperienced with the added third dimension to further reel you into thesilver screen, feeling as if you are witnessing the dance movesfirst-hand on scene.Make no mistake, as you will truly come to realise what an overwhelminggrand finale they have produced in the showdown between the House ofPirates and rivals House of Samurai. Dance supremacy transcends beyondskills and moves where it has truly attained a whole new level withscience and engineering (you'll have to see it for yourself). What a great example of achieving optimum results upon mergingacademics and leisure. As Moose manages a double major in engineering and dance, Step Up 3Dhas also delivered its double major in dance and soul in awe. |

If you have a 3D TV, get this movie! This review is from: Step Up 3 (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) Is very rare that my wife watch a movie with me, it does not matter the genre, is that she never has time, but this movie, she already has seen it 3 times, is that good!.The 3D effects, the dance, and the music (must have Surround System to feel the bass) are awesome! If you have a 3D TV, get this movie, it is a show off material. |

the Magic Coat Trick!1st let me say that when it comes 2 Dancing, this Movie is the Bestyet. That said, lets look a bit closer....Have a good look @ Julien (Joe Slaughter), the leader of the House ofSamurai when they do there Crunk scene during the Final Battle. Tellme, How many times do you C him Magically take his coat of and onduring that +/- 50 second scene? ;)........Also a small mystery, in the beginning (38,54 min.) Natalie (SharniVinson) tells Luke (Rick Malambri) that she was raised by her BrotherJulien, However later on in the movie (50,37 min.) Luke tells Nataliethat Julien was his Bets friend for Years! And they never knew fromeach other, or seen a picture @ the house or something?? And just a daybefore the Final Battle (80,34 min.) Luke receives a text from Carlos, asking him to meet outside in 5 min., But he left the House of Piratesearlier (64,16 min.), so how did he know where 2 find Luke in theretemporary Practise Space @ the Carnaval??.... Another Mystery; IfNatalie (Sharni Vinson) leaves the House of Pirates before the FinalBattle, because of her Brother (54 min.), then how did she learn thechoreography of the Final Lights Dance off??? Cause she is up front onthe right dancing with the lights on.... (90,35 min.) Just a thought ofcourse.... ;) |

Incredbile Dancing, Mediocre ActingOK so I have been a huge fan of the Step Up movies ever since theoriginal with Channing Tatum came out. That being said, I had highexpectations going into watch Step Up 3D. I am going to address a fewdifferent aspects of the movie and some of the complaints I've heardabout it.The plot is typical of that of a dance movie. Everything is superdramatized yet it all works out somehow. The acting was just OK. Mostof what was said in between the dance scenes was painfully corny andalmost hard to watch. That being said, MOST people do not go to see aDANCE movie for a fantastic plot. If you want a better story, watch theoriginal Step Up (that at least has a decent plot). Now for the dancing!! The dancing was INCREDIBLE. I wondered how theywere going to top Step Up 2 which had some pretty spectacular moves. From start to finish, the dances in this movie blew me away. They werecreative and inspiring and made me wish I could dance! Everyone coulddance extremely well. I was also happier that the main girl in themovie could actually dance. In Step Up 2, it seemed like the only girlsthat could really dance were on the opposing crews, or pretty muchanyone besides the main girl.As for the 3D effects, they were better than some of the 3D movies thathave been out lately. If you are willing to pay the extra money then gofor it. If not, I don't think you'll lose any of the greatness of themoves.Hope this helps! |

If you're into dancing, go see it. If not, STAY AWAY!!What can you really expect with a step up film? I mean, the dancing isgreat and all, but if you're not all into dancing in the first place, this movie definitely will make your eyes and ears bleed!! Thechoreography is the only reason I gave this garbage film a 2 out of 10rating and not a full on 1. Every other aspect of the picture is poorand horribly executed, especially the writing, which I will discuss. The acting of course is something of a train-wreck because theso-called "actors" have no idea how to improvise and therefor they'rejust saying lines (very cheesy lines. pretty much what I meant when Isaid the writing was bad) which gets completely unrealistic REALLYfast.Adam Savani is quite possibly the most annoying person in Hollywood, simply because of the step up films. His flashy and somewhat tediousdance moves DO NOT make up for his complete and utter inability to actor be funny when his character is supposed to be the sort of quirkyfriend. He's another big reason of why I gave this crap such anatrocious rating. 2 out of 10 for me. screw it, I change my mindf**king 1 out of 10. |

Would be better if it had a script....First of all 3D was redundant. WHAT was the point of unrealisticallystretched arms and legs in 3 scenes of the movie? Also the actorsappear thinner and shorter in all the"3d-don't-make-me-laugh-Avatar-is-not" battle scenes. The script wasobviously written during the shooting when they realized it would lookbetter if they actually said something. And since Malabri can't dance(he was good in his scenes) in the next film perhaps you could use acatwalk at a beach, so beautiful people can walk in swimsuits and dancecould be on a small TV somewhere in the background. And make it a 3Dtrilogy!! Spare me! Ignoring the above, the dance scenes where good, with beautiful and original choreographies (the tango was completelyout of place, another excellent call production guys - well done, NOT),and thanks to Sevani I wasn't crying for my money. Camille could havedanced with Moose more than 1 choreography in the whole movie, but OK Ican live with that. The only real 3D is AFTER the movie is over. Andthe guy during the credits was great, I didn't look at the credits evenonce. If you like dance battles (or Malabri for the girls) go and seeit. If you like 3D DON'T waste your money here. |

See this movie!Where do I start? The pedestrian acting that only seems too common inthis type of mediocre, over produced genre? Or maybe it's that no formof diatribe banter can accurately shun this movie to the tween nichethat it belongs. The overzealous banter of dancers is a tribute to theever failing social climate that seems to have no direction but down. The gasps and screams of excitement are only drowned out by thequenched moans of despair and anguish by the entire male populationthat was dragged to see such an unequivocally dreary and un originalfilm to ever grace the silver screen. To all you tween girls that arebored with the twighlight craze, maybe you can enjoy this new type offilm. To everyone else that respects and enjoys well made films, maybeyou should look at another option. |
