Truly enjoyed it!Just got back from seeing the movie and it was wonderful! I read thebook as well beforehand and although there were differences, I feelthat they were necessary to make the movie go smoothly and transitionfrom scene to scene. It was magical, scenery was fantastic, and therewas enough depth to carry it through to the end. Although Lucy andEdmund were older, it was just as in the book. This film was similar tothe first in that it had more happier moments. There was action to keepyou engaged, sadness to help you relate to the characters, humoroustidbits and triumphant moments to make for a great movie. True Narnianfans will love it as well as the Narnian novice. I hope and pray therewill be others. |

Are they trying to do same as Harry Potter? My question is simply put. Are they going to do to the rest of the books of Narnia that they did with Harry Potter? In other words, turn everything around!? I was not pleased with how they changed so many things...the Lone Islands was where the slave trade had been going on...no mist came and took the slaves for a sacrifice. The events and islands they stopped at were out of order. Eustace did not remain a dragon for most of the rest of the movie. There was no Dark Island but there was a mist that did make use of your worst worries in life. THe part where Lucy was envious of sister's beauty was there but did not last that long either. My son was even shocked when it got to parts and he was saying, "Mom...that did not happen did it?" I said no and that it was out of context or order. THey did a poor job of recreating this one. A few minor additions or changes can be expected but I think C. S. Lewis would roll in his grave if he saw this. |

This is not a movie review, this is a product/case reviewThis review is from: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) At least on Amazon right now, this is the only 3 Disc (BD, DVD, Digital Copy) version for sale. So I had no choice. But the photo Amazon includes does not show this case as being anything other than the standard plastic case with a sleeve. Which I would have loved. But nothing I hate more than a crappy storage case for a 3 disc blockbuster title.I have included pics. I give this product 3 stars for "OK". Even though I hate it. If you want a movie review, check out the many movie review sites. If you want a film transfer review for video and audio quality, check out blu-ray.com.This is one of the most annoying storage cases I have owned. The worst was the Toy Story complete box set, which was so bad that I returned it at a loss and bought all the films individually with multiple versions just to have the better cases. So what makes this storage so bad? Check out the pics. It's basically paper sleeves for the discs (2 of 3), folded together. And then that folded mess it stuffed into a box sleeve, and then that sleeve is pushed into the box sleeve you see in Amazon's photo. If they would have duplicated the outer box art and disc specs from the front and back, onto the internal Box sleeve, I could at least ditch the outer box sleeve and store just the inner box sleeve on the shelf. But the inner box (while it does have specs like rating, time, etc on the back) is not as detailed as the outer box sleeve. So it's annoying when having to get out the discs and more importantly I don't trust paper sleeves to protect the finish of the discs due to sliding motions across the disc surface.Again, no other choice if you want BD and DVD in the same purchase/set. And even if I wanted to spend more and buy them separately, you can't on Amazon. They sell the DVD only or this set. I wish everyone would just stick to the standard BD case or case/sleeve.UPDATE: It's not even standard BD case height! They could have at least made this crappy box look good on the shelf with all the other Blu-Rays. Who wants to mix their BD movies with their DVD cases? Again, if there was another combo set to buy, I would return this one. |

I can't believe what a piece of junk this film isWell, my mom liked the first movie of The Chronicles, so for her birthday last year, she wanted to go check this out. I have to say, no movie has ever bored me so much. What a terrible film. I'm 19yrs old, and am very open-minded. I enjoy every movie I watch, but this was horrible! If you're an adult, and your brain has developed, hahaha, then you will not watch this. Thius'll be good for kids 5yrs old and under, anyone older than 5 will not like this. Seriously thought. I don't know how this has a 4star. I've seen some great movies on here with 3.5 or 3stars. Total BS. Don't waste your money. I'm telling you for your own good. |

Journey to the End of the WorldFamily Pevensies no longer together, the older children already in thewhole rest of America, while junior left in Europe, experiencing thehorrors of war while in the little family to be extremely nasty andvile cousin Eustace. Thank God all sorts of military action occupyscreen time will not, and will put Lucy has once again playedincredibly charming Georgie Henley, with the matured Edmund and Eustacealready mentioned above - to Narnia, a very interesting way, bringingall three of the ship "Conqueror of the dawn" where they were waitingfor Prince Caspian with the team. raznosortnyh sailors from the fantasygenre: fauns, minotaurs, a brave mouse Reepicheep, and the front willand dragons and sea serpents, and the journey to the edge of the world!Unlike the two previous parts, trikvele main attention is paid to thenature of human vices. Various religious and Christian motifs weretraced in the first and second parts, but only a third have achieved soclearly defined role in an event that even a poorly disguised symbolismcan be seen all the abundance of embedded ideas. That neither thescene, the obligatory reference to the seven deadly sins and the tencommandments of the Bible, regular tips Aslan, like the divine gazefrom somewhere in the heavens and talk about his country, for the purehearts and No Return ... Of fairy tale turned into a movie fantasy, andthey in turn passed to the genre of religious parables, in which moralaction and adventure are diluted with a modern twist.Of course, knowing all this, the blame of excessive morality tale - itexcessive, family movie should carry the correct values and must be acautionary tale, in addition to the ability to entertain. Benefit andentertain here really turns out, the film is very dynamic andincredibly beautiful! What is a house of invisibility or a sea full ofwhite flowers! However the addition of 3D does not feel like would likevery much here could demonstrate the technology at full volume and playwith the audience, but the potential size was not revealed in all itsglory video. Breathtaking scenes of battles yet expressive look and avery high quality set, so the replacement director is not too muchthere: everything remained the same breathtaking, as in "Caspian,".Just the story itself is not so much built on intrigue and action, muchmore on the linear characters' adventures. Trikvel was not sofairy-child, as the first movie, and not as fast-ekshenovym as asequel. Why is inferior to the previous two, but he himself is from abeautiful and a good story. At the height was graphic, as well as costumes. What's happening reallyimmerses the magical Narnia, captures the spirit of dragon flight, makes the heart beat in a spirit of adventure and carries through theentire running time of wondrous corners of this fantastic country. Moreover, unlike the previous two, the third movie was somehow kinder, more sublime and smooth on the measured plot of key points. It looksnice and in terms of special effects, and part of a story. Just tomention the brilliant qualities and positive aspects, we can not forgetthe colorful characters, played brilliantly cast. Looks great BenBarnes as Caspian, as well despite the lack of a plot of older childrenof the family - in the film, they still flicker in some scenes, as wellas Tilda Swinton in the guise of the White Witch at the same time thereis full of diverse and very colorful secondary characters, which doesnot want to forget. And the best part - they just can not get lost, despite their numbers, even without seeing the first two stories.Because the film in principle independent, though the ways to move backand forth surprise every time their funky ideas."Conqueror of dawn" has successfully completed the trilogy of semeikaPevensey and gave a hint of "Silver Chair", in which the main characterwill be just a nasty fellow named Eustace and one of his girlfriend, but it already then, and this is another story. And now you can boldlygo to the movies when there is a mood for a beautiful and edifyingfairy-tale movie, go to the whole family or just send the childrenalone, a good time. Vivid tale of how she expected, a very dynamic andgood movies, breaking away from the harsh reality and everydayproblems. |

Should have changed the titleThey should have changed the title of this movie, as it had almost no relation to the book. I was so pleasantly surprised when The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe came out, that, even though Prince Caspian was a big disappointment, somehow I thought this one would be as wonderful as the first. It wasn't. What a waste of time. |

True to the bookThis review is from: The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader (Single-Disc Edition) (DVD) The third movie in the Chronicles of Narnia series, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, does an excellent job of sticking to the main story lines of the book by C.S. Lewis. I have enjoyed all three movies in the series, but feel the makers of this movie have done an even better job than the first two. My three younger daughters (ages 7, 9, and 11) like this movie the most of the Narnia movies. |

Good movie, absolutely awful packagingThis review is from: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Two-Disc Edition) (DVD) I found the movie to be lots of fun. Yes, it's different from the book, but the movie presents a unifying theme that allows the story to be told in a visual, adventurous way. The movie itself gets a good 4 stars, which means this review is marked for two stars because...The packaging for this particular double pack gets 1 star. The discs are actually glued onto the package. Yes, glued. And not only glued, but glued within an oddly designed cardboard sleeve that can't be fully opened. Once removed, the blu-ray disc is unplayable; the glue won't come off easily without scratching the disc. I didn't even try to force the DVD disc out of the package as I'm guessing the same problem will happen there as well (and I'd rather not risk breaking it trying to pry it out). Oddly, the digital download disc is the most easily accessible and best packaged of the three. Horrible, horrible, horrible packaging. |

A SPLENDID RETURN TO "NARNIA!" (Minor Spoilers Included)Following the good-but-not-great "Prince Caspian," the "Chronicles of Narnia" series returns to top form with "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader," the third film based on C.S. Lewis' epic Christian Fantasy series. Here, Edmund and Lucy Prevensie, along with their cousin Eustace, return to the world of Narnia, and join King Caspian on journey to find the seven Lords of Telmar banished by Lord Miraz. It is not long however before they must come to face a threat from the Dark Island, a dark force that threatens the very existence of Narnia itself. Each must find courage, and face temptation, on the ultimate journey to Aslan's Country.Like the previous entry, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" does make several changes in the adaptation from book to screen. But while the changes made to "Prince Caspian" did little to enhance the story, the changes made here actually help to make a cohesive narrative out of what was a more episodic book. The film was sure to be in good hands with director Michael Apted, a man who has shown himself capable of handling both thrilling action (The World Is Not Enough) and dramatic storytelling (Amazing Grace). Here, both serve him well. The cast and crew do a commendable job of bringing the film to the big screen. If you're a fan of Lewis' series of books, or of Fantasy Adventure, then you're sure to enjoy "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." And if this is to be the last installment in the film series, it surely goes out with a bang!Movie Grade: A |

Chronicles of Narnia - Voyage of the Dawn Treader - The worst packaging ever!!What is the primary and most important aspect of blu-ray disc packaging? To protect the disc(s) from damage while stored or when being removed from the packaging or returned to the packaging.Well, apparently Fox doesn't believe in that. This is the most pathetic packaging imaginable for a single title 3 disc set.It is cheap cardboard - and when Amazon ships it to you in an envelope, be prepared to find the top portion of the product to have been crushed. Then you can open it up to find 2 of the discs stored in flip out sleeves, so you can grab them with your grubby oily fingers to drag them out for playing. The 3rd disc is twisted onto a little rubber nubby glued onto a cardboard flap in the center. We've seen these before - they are pure junk! Can you avoid putting marks on the discs? Well, do not worry about it - because they already have marks on them from the Fox worker bees who put the discs into this awful packaging in the first place. Please don't tell me this approach to packaging was so Fox could include that pack of "collector postcards" in the package - the ones I just flipped into the recycle bin. Fox should fire the idiots who dreamed this debacle up. |

This movie is what the books are all about. This movie is what the Narnia books are about. It depicts the innerbattles that all of us face and lets us know that those inner battleswill transform us into better human beings - if we let them. It isabout the journey to true wisdom. While not entirely true to the events in the book, IMHO, this movie isentirely true to the spirit of the book. There are no epic battlescenes through which we can glorify our heroes. Rather the battlesdepicted are the battles that our heroes face within themselves. Itbrings to mind the following quote of which I am not sure of the source- "The only true battles warriors ever fight are those they fight withthemselves." If you are familiar with Joseph Campbell, my bet is hewould have liked this movie. If further Narnia movies are made, I hope they retain this approach. |

Break this DawnWhile the world was a fan of Lord of the Ringleader or Harry Pothead, Iclung to the Chronicles of Narnia movies. After all, I idolized (justone of the) book(s) as a kid: The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe.I both read the book and watched the British cartoon. I never went pastthat chapter (of seven?) but I am still very fond of that and when themodern-day first movie came out, I loved it. I even liked part II:Prince Caspian.Despite my liking of the first two movies and the chance they wouldn'tmake a third chapter, due to studio battles over box-office, I skipped#3: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (TVOTDT) in the theatres. (PAT ONBACK) I just saved some money. While visually stunning, and I mean: this CGI-heavy sequel was TOPNOTCH, the story sucked, the dumbed down plot/moral and almost completelack of action/war scenes (you'd find fun in the first two) made this atedious "adventure." In fact, I'd just call it a chapter of a seriesyou can't wait to get past to get on with the series. One of the biggest problems I find, and again, this is coming fromsomeone who hasn't read all the books, is that the original author,C.S. Lewis, apparently wrote himself into a corner with thestipulation: no one over a certain age can enter the land of Narnia.I enjoyed the four brothers/sisters together in the original twomovies. They all fit and had great chemistry together. Here, in TVOTDT,only the weaker of the four, Lucy (Georgie Henley) and Edmund (SkandarKeynes) are allowed into the magical land leaving behind the superiorbrother and sister duo: Susan (Anna Popplewell) and Peter (WilliamMoseley.) Ho-hum. And it wouldn't be so bad, but they introducedanother young boy, Eustace (Will Poulter) that will undoubtedly be the"next generation" of Narnia-adventurers in the future installments. HEWAS SOOO ANNOYING, not to mention hard to understand with such a thickEnglish accent. That's neither here nor there, in regards to the dialect, he was justso unfun to watch and I'm stopping here (with TVOTDT) so I don't haveto see more of him…and especially less of the more interestingchildren. The basic plot (and its basic – it's really for the G-rated audience)revolves around Lucy, Edmund and brat Eustace thrown into Narnia afterthe war (featured in parts one and two) is over, but there's an evilpresence that's stealing people. There's a mystery involved with that, a large ship that just sailsaround and a fantastic mouse named Reepicheep (voiced very nicely bySimon Pegg) who should appear in the Shrek franchise, but does justfine here as the swashbuckling teacher to Eustace.Gone is the big battle scenes and in comes the "heart" and "message"from the Lion (once again, voiced by Liam Neeson.)This movie is for (incredibly) die-hard fans of the books and notnecessarily for "new" (like me) fans of the movies. It's sad, though. Iam a huge CGI-hater, and this movie contains some of the mostbreathtaking CGI-effects I've seen. Too bad they wasted it on a moviethat should've gone straight to Bluray. |

A Tasteful Rendition of the Original Work by C.S. LewisThis is the third installment by Walden Media of the seven "Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis (1898-1963). As in the first two movies produced by Disney, these newer films stray from the books - but I think that they do so in a tasteful way that keeps true to the spirit of the author and his core message of Christian allegory. The movies produced from 1988 to 1990 by BBC were amazingly true to Lewis' literary work, but unfortunately they didn't have enough big money funding - so they stopped with "The Silver Chair." "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" as done by Walden has the islands of the Eastern Ocean in different order from the book. In the book, the sequence is: Galma, Terebinthia, the Seven Isles, the Lone Islands, Dragon Island, Burnt Island, Deathwater (Goldwater) Island, Duffer (Dufflepud) Island, Dark Island, Star (Ramandu's) Island and then finally Aslan's Country. In the movie, sequence after the Lone Islands goes to Duffer Island, Deathwater Island, Dragon Island, Star Island, Dark Island and then to Aslan's Country where Reepicheep the Mouse continues on by himself. Lord Bern has no farm on Avra, but is a prisoner of Pug and the slave traders in Narrowhaven on Doorn. The sequence with the sea serpent takes place near the end before the "Dawn Treader" reaches the Sea of Lillies. The important thing is that the core meaning isn't lost - you and your family should enjoy this movie very much! |

Why bother adapting a book if you're just going to rewrite the plot???I was SO looking forward to the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and wassorely disappointed. The film felt like they took the original story, chopped it up, thenthrew it in a blender with seven magical swords and some ridiculousgreen mist! While the film stayed true to main themes of the story, much of thecharacter development and purpose to each of the minor island storieswas lost. Unfortunately this meant that most of the magic of the storywas lost as well.I gave the film 6 stars due to the redeeming qualities that were thestunning visuals, some excellent acting (notably by Will Poulter asEustace), and a beautifully executed final scene. If you haven't read the book, then you may enjoy this film immensely, but if you are a true Narnia fan, don't go in with very highexpectations. |

Amazing! As much as I love the book The Voyage of the Dawn Treader I realize that it lacked a cohesive movie type plot. Really in the book they're just sailing from island to island on a whim Caspian had to find the missing lords when he should be, you know, helping lead his newly reunited country. I remember seeing the first preview and having my mother ask if it followed the book. "Not really," I replied, "but it looks like they've managed to squeeze some actual plot in there."They've given the characers a conflict to resolve and an enemy to defeat while still remaining true to the book's very episodic style. As characters go they've been developed nicely, with one exception. Lucy is given great inner conflict that was based off a very brief passage in the book, it really adds depth to her otherwise young but trusting character, she is also given a very touching role with a new character invented for the movie. Caspian seems much more like a ruler and leader than he did in the last movie (but where did his accent go?). Eustace was everything he could have been and more, a totally wonderful addition to the cast! Edmund, however, fared much worse. Possibly because he is my favorite character but it felt like they were pushing the jealousy bit too far. I can't think of a logical precedent for this in the books, however it may just be a natural assumption that he is tired of playing second fiddle. Hmmmm... I may like his part more next time I watch. |

The best one yet!Once again we are draw into the world of Narnia as Edmund and Lucyalong with their cousin Eustace to help King Caspian find seven Lordsbanished from Narnia by his uncle. This third film in the Narnia series is a great improvement on the lastand by far the best yet. Sadly with Prince Caspian it appears the filmmakers threw the book out the window and made up their own story whereas this one sticks a lot closer to the book I am pleased to sayalthough there are naturally a few twists and changes to the story.Seeing the film in 3D adds little as clearly it was post converted.Ben Barnes looks a lot more comfortable in the skin of Caspian thistime especially having dropped the Spanish accent. Will Poulter asEustace is a clear stand out too but being a kids film none of the castreally get a chance to show off their acting talents with any longmonologues or scenes. Reepicheep's story is also well done. The film is good fun and there are some great action pieces especiallywith the sea serpent. The special effects are well done too. A greatfamily flick for the holidays.I must also note a wonderful touch over the closing credits by usingimages from the book. A source of reference I wish had been used in thelast film. Overall a good job by Fox having now taking over the series fromDisney. Now if you can just go back and re-make Prince Caspian for meplease? |

Dreadful and unnecessary rewriteAn adaptation of a book can't be completely faithful. We all understandthis and accept it: There just isn't space even in a two hour movie toinclude everything which happens in an entire novel. But this travesty wanders so far away from the source material, introducing an unneeded quest for magical swords and a pointless "bigbad" invented from whole cloth which adds nothing to the story butmerely takes time away from the relevant.Add in the mysterious change of Reepicheep's voice - what happened? WasEddie Izzard unavailable for this one? - and the lamentable shift fromintelligence to brute force as a solution to, for example, the LoneIslands slavery problem and what we have here is a dreadful movie whichcompletely misses the point of the book. |
