Star Wars Spin-off!

[CONTAINS SPOILERS] Yes, those loveable, furry little Ewoks from Return of theJedistar in their own little TV movie. Here's the story: The Towanifamilyfrom, I don't know, some other planet, have crashlanded on themoonof Endor. Their children Mace and Cindel disappeared, parentsJeremittand Catarine look for them. Suddenly a giant, hairry thingapproachesand captures them. Not too far away, was an Ewok family known as theWarricks. The two eldest sons have wandered off somewhere and have notreturned.Father Deej was worried. Third son was named Wicket. Wicket W.Warrick.Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they named him after theactorthat plays him, Warwick Davis. Because Warwick and Warrick soundalotlike. Also, the Ewoks don't call their parents Mom and Dad. They workona first name basis. Anyway, Deej soon finds his children, WiddleandWeechee, playing on a cliff. As they walk back to the village, theyfindthe crashed Towani starcruiser. They decide to investigate anddiscoveryoung Cindel who appreaed to be sick. They also discover herolderbrother, 14-year-old Mace. The Ewoks take them both back to thevillage, where it just so happened they had a cure for what ailed Cindel.Macewanted to depart from the Ewoks as soon as possible so that nighthesneaks Cindel and himself out, where they encounter a giant beast, butit's the Ewoks to the rescue. The kids soon learn their parents are still alive. But wherearethey? They go to Logray, the village mystic for answers. Theylearntheir parents are the prisoners of the evil giant, Gorax.Theymust go rescue them. It would be a treacherous journey, but theEwoksdecide to help their new friends, so they load up their suppliesandtheir horses and start off. Logray gave them each items for thetrip.Mace received a rock, which he threw out. Luckily, Wicket picked itup. They encounter two additional Ewoks on their trek. First iswoodsmanand great warrior, Chukha-Trok and Ewok Priestess Kaink. Now thecaravanwas complete. Along the way they counter a magic pond and a bunchoffairies. But finally they make it to the cave where Goraxlived. Cindel, Wicket and Widdle stayed behind while the rest ofthemwent on. They encounter giant spiders and finally rescue JeremittandCatarine. They take out the evil Gorax also and before long, thefamilies are reunited. A very clever, very cute idea. We've even got specialguestnarrator Burl Ives, because the Ewoks don't speak English so weneeda narrator to tell us what is going on. But anyway, if youenjoyedthe Ewoks in Return of the Jedi, you gotta see this movie. Itwasfollowed by a sequel: Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, which wasalsopretty good. I recommend these films!-

definitely not for Star Wars fans

Phew, I did sit through this one... I thought a real Star Wars fan wouldhave to see the Ewok movies, too. Well, this one is extremely bad. Thespecial effects look like they came from the 60s, the story hasuncountableflaws, and the characters are extremely weak. I do not recommend this filmfor Star Wars fans ...well, to be honest: I don't recommend it toanybody.

I'd like this movie for my kids

My children really enjoy the Star Wars movies, especially my six-year-old daughter. We've rented the Ewok Adventure for her and she loves it. I wish she could have her own copy.

(2013-05-16 21:25:59)

I can't get enough of the Ewoks!

I wish this movie were more widely promoted because I think it has been overlooked. I also think there should be more Ewok movies made. The Ewoks stand for love of life, family and simple pleasures. A visit to Endor via movies, is something we all need! Besides, can anyone resist the immense cuteness of it all??

(2013-05-16 06:37:46)

A movie that deserves more recognition

This has always been one of my favorites. The Ewoks are very interesting creatures, and you are really rooting for the kids to survive. Great story, acting, direction, and imagination.

What a cheap way to cash in on an already celebrated franchise.

I can tell you a thing or two about the dirty aspects of commercialism. For one thing, greed and marketing plays a prominent part in themerchandising phase and two, for all "their good intentions" it dampensthe appeal of the original product despite the fact that said materialhas already been established. Ahhh, the power of corporate politics. Inthis case, Lucas tried to do the same thing with the prequels (thoughEpisode 3 was great, don't hate me) and failed horribly and EwokAdventure is another example albeit from a much less commercializedera. About the film itself? well I could say its cute in a "Star Warsgeek" kinda way but then I'll be lying to myself if I do. As the titleof this review states, this is nothing more than a cheap cash in on analready established universe. The fact that two, count 'em TWO movieswere made featuring those despised little walking "rugs" iscringe-worthy of morbid epic proportions. To me they kinda resemblethose Teletubbies of late; only with fur. Why? Why try to milksomething that was so successful to begin with for what its worth? Whydidn't he scrap this crap and just make a Star Wars TV series,live-action style?!?!?! Instead he made this sci-fi excrement. Purelyand fundamentally useless. It serves nothing more than a nuisance toanything worthy of mass appeal and critical praise. This was made forkids aka THE TARGET AUDIENCE of the world. At least its nice to knowthat adults don't have to even look at....this...thing dipped ever soeloquently in sweet dippedy-doo-daa candy laced fudge even if that wasMr. Lucas and co original intent. Are they're good parts? The specialeffects are nice. That's just about it.You could do a lot worse and I MEAN A LOT WORSE seeing thisvomit-inducing piece on Lucas's now-corporate-minded part or if youwant a more "humane" solution you could check yourself into a mentalhealth facility where you're most likely stay for several years if youcan't erase those horribly disturbing haunting images from your ever sodelicate psyche. The sky is falling in this Orwellian age of psychoticpop stars, weak US dollar, Tom Cruise's fax paux religion, and otherbizarre things happening in the world today, one can only hope that aresistance movement is formed to combat and defeat the evil forces ofcommercialism to ensure the rest of humanity that crap like this NEVERis made to be seen AGAIN. Ever.

My inner child smiles

I loved this movie as a child and still do. A great adventure with nocursing and little to no violence. I will be happy to let my son watchit when he is older. Great characters and how I love it when Wickettsays, "Lardo". There are great outdoor settings and I thing the Ewokcostumes are just adorable. They shine all on their own, and are greatto see in Star Wars as well. Quirky antics and always seeming to landin trouble, that is what a children's sci-fi adventure should be about.I know it may seem a little goofy to those of you who are big sci-fibuffs and are looking for in-depth high caliber writing, but for thoseof you who are looking for light hearted fun, this is the movie! Twothumbs up.

Augh!

This 'movie' was awfull! Take pitiously bad acting, midget exploitation, and everything bad about the 80's and you'd still have a better movie. If there was an option to rate it 0 stars you bet I would.

It's not that bad,I've seen worse guys!

Come on,I've seen worse "Star Wars" spin-offs (the X-mas special comes tomind ~-~).I know alot of people either love this film or hated it,buttherewas some campiness and some touching scenes that attracted me to this.Itwasrather entertaining since I was little. It's just been so long ago!!!

Please re release this video

This is a fantastic film which I watched numerous times as a child. Following the recent success of rerelesing the starwars films and the making of episode one, to not allow the opportunity to buy this classic again is unforgivable. I love ewoks.

(2013-05-09 06:00:06)

Please bring it back!

I have seen this movie as a child and I absolutely loved both movies (The Ewok Adventure 1 and 2). I consider this movie a classic like Goonies and Labyrinth! I do hope one day they will release this movie on DVD!

Where are the Jar Jar spin-offs?

Mouldy 'Star Wars' leftovers, scripted from a story presumablyscribbled by George Lucas on the back of an envelope. Even the narratorof this sorry spin-off sounds bored as he relates the story of a familywho crash land on the forest moon of Endor and get separated; the kidsmeet up with the Ewoks, who help them find their parents. I quite likethe Ewoks myself, but they're incapable of carrying a film (two films)without the established 'Star Wars' characters. The kids are immenselyannoying, the so-called 'adventure' is lacking in energy, it lookscheap, the performances are awful and the effects are naff, which alladds up to not a lot. File this one away next to the Holiday Special,George.

the ewok adventure

This film was my friend during a very lonely childhood. Oh how I wanted to go live on the moon of endor! The special effects are great and the cast is fun! Chukah trok rules!!!

A MUST SEE COUCH ADVENTURE!

A spin-off of "Star Wars", "The Ewok Adventure" is a must see! Although this film is geared towards younger audiences, it is still a couch adventure for adults. I recommend that all "Star Wars" fans watch this film with their children, as an introduction to the "Star Wars" experience.

Not ridiculas

I know people say that the ewoks movies were a stupid waste of time andmoney, but I totally disagree. I think that if you are a child at heart, and still know how to use your imagination, then you would love thesemovies. 7.4 out of 10.

Very silly and outdated cash-in, but I used to love it

It's unfortunate that sometimes nostalgia can turn out to be adeceiving pain. I used to watch "The Ewok Adventure" on VHS when I wasyounger and was a huge fan - I'd view it frequently (probably evenbefore I saw all the original "Star Wars" films) and, although Irecognized it was cheesy even as a child, I still enjoyed it.Today, it simply doesn't hold up. It comes across as a desperate andsilly cash-in on "Star Wars: Episode IV: Return of the Jedi." The"lovable" Ewoks of that film return here to wreak more havoc - theyfind a boy and his younger sister after they crash land on the planet. The boy and sister have lost their parents, whom were apparentlygrabbed out of the space ship by some scary alien creature. The alien creature's special F/X are absolutely terrible which explainswhy his full frontal view is saved until the ending - which isludicrous and way over-the-top.If you're a "Star Wars" fan you'll need to own this simply because it'sgot the Lucas "stamp of approval" - but to any casual viewer it comesacross as a desperate and pathetic franchise cash-in.

The Saga continues

After crash-landing on the forest moon of Endor and the disappearance of their parents, two children must fight for their survival in a strange land. The Ewok Adventure, also known as Caravan of Courage stars two young children who must join forces with the Ewoks in order to save the parents from Gorax in a far away land. Now the children must trust the Ewoks and work together if they want to save their parents. After the Star wars saga ended in 1983, George Lucas produced two tales about the furry Ewoks that came into the picture in Return of the Jedi. These were definitely made for families, as Ewoks were warm, cuddly, cute creatures. Many Star wars fans won’t even consider these apart of the Star Wars universe. Well they were creatures from Lucas’s films, so they are apart of the universe. These were TV family movies made for children and on that standpoint they are very good. I would recommend these for a good family movie. Not too violent and better then average TV movies. B-.

A nice movie for the kids

Caravan of Courage, the first of two Ewok films is a nice adventurefilm for kids, but too slow for adults to enjoy. The film captures theessential elements of what an Ewok film should be like but fails incertain other areas.Firstly the film looks rather messy in comparison to other LucasFilmproductions and particularly when compared to its immediate sequel. Thenarrator is also more distracting than anything and would sound moreappropriate in a nature documentary rather than a children's fantasyadventure film.On the other hand, the film sets itself apart from the bigger SW filmsquite nicely, feeling more like a fantasy than a science fiction filmand having some fairly good special-effects and interesting creatures. But as said, adults are more likely to find the film numbing ratherthan enjoyable.

(2013-05-03 18:35:38)

good for the kids ony

this movie is a rather obvious attempt to cash in on the popularity the ewoks gained during the return of the jedi movie.nobody youve ever heard of isin it.but kids dont care,so theyll like it anyway.if you can listen really closely,a ewok cusses, but besides that, there is nothing to warp thier minds.it is not nearly as good as the star wars movies so dont be fooled!at one point a ewok gets killed.this could freak them out.the real deal on this one is that its cute for small children butthats about it.
