LikeAlright, a zombie movie can never get less than 5 out of 10 because Ilove the zombie franchise. 7 is a fair vote for this series.Firs the bad parts. I really didn't like that the zombies are oldschool that pace about doing nothing and can't run, they just dragaround. Instead of giving them something unique and cool they're justmilling around. The dialog is often very bad, stuff that doesn't make sense and stuffthat is ridiculous. The acting is sometimes poor and you can see stufflike moving cars in the background, that they simply didn't bother tore-shoot or edit out. I don't wanna include spoilers but there are farworse mistakes than that too :)They have picked off identical events from other great zombie movieswhich shows a lack of imagination. I can think of 100 other ways to dowhat they did but they did exactly what has been done in other moviesinstead.Alright! The good bits. There are some nice shots, the CG isn't allthat bad and the gore is fine. Here's the best part, I've only seenhalf the first episode when I write this so things can get better. But the rating so var is somewhere at 98% good, and it's NOT, really. But for any zombie fan this is of course a MUST see. |

Best zombie flick ever!I love zombie movies & this is the best one I've seen. Very intense inall the right places. The pacing is very different from most moviesmaybe because it is a TV series. The media has been overrun withvampires lately & as some critics have pointed out the vampire is now asexy bored male model. There is nothing sexy about a zombie. Yourteenage daughter will not have a poster of one on her bedroom wall. 2factors I particularly liked was a.) the soundtrack b.) the location.Inoticed the rating was PG-13 which puzzles me since the acts ofviolence depicted seem more R rated. Most zombie movies are R rated forgood reason. |

The show, overall.I love the show but found some of the plot holes and lack of expositiondisappointing. How come no zombies bothered to eat rick while he was ina coma? The door to his room wasn't locked. How come Rick never askshow or why the zombies happened? He just seems to accept it as if it'sjust another day. It's not clear whether the people come back to lifeafter being bitten by a zombie (as in other zombie movies). SPOILER****In the last episode, when everyone is sitting around all cozy at thecamfire, how come there are no security lookouts or tripwires trippedwhen the hoard of zombies comes into camp? It seems they arrived withNO warning which seems unlikely. |

one of the worst American TV movies..the movie is about an sheriff who gets caught in some real situationthat could only happen in movies..wow, this show is a total mess, the worst part is the terribly cheesyscript and dialogue, it makes me feel like watching a second ratehollyweird soap opera. the acting is not so bad, Jon Bernthal isOK,Andrew Lincoln,a dead ringer for Edward Burns (a worst actor though)is OK too, the only actor sucked is legendary comic T-Dog. his actinghere is abysmal..he reminds me of the worst American soap actors.I have seen more than a thousand American movies and many TV movies, they are usually quite good, America has always produced good TV moviethat is either meaningful or entertaining.5 of them got my voting of10.. more than 50% I've voted as high as or higher than 7.but this one is a ham, very bad. it let me suspicious of the Jewishdirector Frank Darabont's IQ.... |

Delivers...Topnotch special effects are put to good use by a superb director inanother George Romero-inspired monsterpiece. While the leading manisn't quite as convincing as one might've liked, some of the supportingplayers certainly are- particularly the man who couldn't bring himselfto put down his wandering wife... The overall epic feel of THE WALKINGDEAD serves it well as well: from the ravaged hospital interior to therubble-strewn streets and abandoned military and civilian vehicles leftto rot in the wake of the walking dead, everything has a strikingverisimilitude. Should a zombiegeddon someday occur, the land will nodoubt look not unlike the terra incognita here. (In my own zombie epic,THE LIVING DEAD, we find everything from zoo animals running loose to aleper colony- all achieved without a dime-, but nothing to compare towhat we see here.) While I found lapses in logic from time to time inthe comics (and, once or twice, in this initial episode as well), I'mdefinitely sticking with THE WALKING DEAD. It's a type of series longoverdue. |

Not Disappointed At All....As someone who has watched both good and really bad horror films, Iwould have to say this one has been great so far. It has a reality toit..just enough to make it rise above something cheesy and cheaply puttogether. The beginning makes you want to keep watching...as you aren'tsure what happened to cause all the rampant chaos that slowly itrevealed to you as the main character begins to asses his situation. Hereacts as most would..thinking it is some kind of weird dream...or inhis case...he is still in his coma state...but he isn't at all. Theworld as he knew it has changed while he was gone. The slow addition ofnew characters was good too...not too much over-crowding right away soyou get to know each character a little more. It reminded me of amini-series on a few years ago...written by Stephen King...where agovernment research place accidentally released a deadly virus into theair and it killed people in a plague-like manner. Not zombie-like...butalong the same lines. Average people changed...some becameheroes...some became worse that you could imagine. Anyway...this newshow looks like something quite different...finally...after all theover-load of reality junk and stupid non-humorous sit-coms. Writerswith some real intelligence and imagination. I hope to continue towatch the series as it continues. I can tell it will be a hit withdie-hard sci-fi fans and disliked by those who don't like anything thatrequires them to think a little out of the box. Oh well...that is whatthe remote control is for. Change the channel and find somethingmindless to entertain you in some other way. Meanwhile...I am ready forthe next episode. |

DisappointingFirst off let me tell you this is my very first review. It might be thelast one since I'm too lazy to do anything more than rate the movies Iwatch but I felt I needed to give my opinion on this show since itkeeps getting rave reviews... I love all things zombie and one of myfavorite pieces of zombie fiction is Robert Kirkman's The walking deadcomic book. It's got everything you ever wanted in a zombie movie andmore, so when I heard they were making a TV show out of it I wasextremely excited. I was even more excited when I saw the first imagesof the cast, both human and zombies. I was still really excited afterwatching the first episode. It was quite true to the book, except for afew minor changes. All that changed in episode 2. They introduced newcharacters that weren't in the book which, up to a certain point, wasto be expected so they could be cannon fodder since they would allowfor more people to be killed. But what's even worse is that theychanged the story and situations for some of the characters that are inthe book. About 95% of the events until the season finale (a 6 episodeseason, really?) are complete fiction. The only things that happenedwhere the attack on the camp and when Rick and Glenn smear themselveswith zombie goo in order to go back into the city, and even the actualevents surrounding that incursion were changed. On the technical sideof things the zombies look great though they use (and somewhat abuse)CGI blood splatters, though not to the level found in movies such asNinja Assassin (I don't think they used a single squib or a drop offake blood). CGI blood looks awful, here, on Ninja Assassin or Survivalof the Dead (a rather poor entry in Romero's ... of the Dead series)...Despite all of these shortcomings it still is an entertaining piece ofzombie fiction and it continues to be the only TV show dealing withzombies (the only other one I know is Dead Set, a British mini series),but unless they start following the book in season 2 the shortcomingswill surpass the few merits it has. This is not Robert Kirkman's Thewalking dead. This is AMC's The walking dead. |

Sirloin has turned into hamburger...WARNING: spoilers if you aren't current with the show.Bottom line is: a great first season. Beautifully envisioned. Greatwriting, cinematography, setting the whole feeling. This season? It's devolved into a soap opera and I think I maybe haveonly 1 or 2 episodes left that I can put up with this.I KNEW that continuing the story would be tough, but I didn't think Iwould suddenly be getting a Georgia zombie "Dallas." I just keepthinking, "How damn many farms are abandoned nearby? Just move to itand you'll still be close to Hershel if you need a doctor." I hatepeople being stupid just for the sake of the story. And how come they don't just take EVERYTHING in the drug store insteadof risking their lives to go shopping as needed? I'm not asking foraction all the time. I don't WANT action all the time. But how aboutgiving us more than soap opera. Give us new revelations on the worldthat's been created, with the interpersonal relationships as somethingthat keeps it all together, not the focus.MOVE IT FORWARD!!!!!!!!!! |

Dead Promises and Wilted RosesThis series started out with a lot of action and entertainment value, and it delivered a lot of drama and too much endless sentimentality andmourning. Then it all went cheap and low budget. The main charactersfound a farm where the zombies rarely visit, and a family that had anice big home and electricity. So much for the action, adventure, andentertainment value. The second season has been deadly boring. A bunch of misfits stuck on afarm while they search for the little girl who became a zombie. Theyare all constantly engaged in boring and petty bickering. The farmfamily wants them to go, but they are too lazy to go out and find theirown farm. So they just stay and bicker with each other. Why won't anyone leave on their own? They can get free cars, gas, food, etc., from the abandoned towns on the side of the road, and yet nobodyjust leaves this toxic group. For a while, every episode involved characters searching for the littlegirl, and finding various types of zombies. Even that got boring, sinceafter the first couple of days (or weeks in terms of episodes), it didnot take a genius to guess, that the 8 year old girl that got lost inthe zombie woods was not coming back in one piece. It seems like they are milking the farm set for as much as they canget, and after a few episodes, watching the farm girl making out withthe Asian guy gets boring. Watching the bad cop hitting on his bestfriend's wife gets to be distasteful. You would think the cop's buddywould have figured it out by now. Spending three or four episodes on whether or not his wife should admitthat she got pregnant (who is the Daddy?) was just trashy. Last but notleast is the annoying little boy who seems to spend more time with his"uncle" than with his own father. The old lady whose daughter gotkilled never stops complaining, and nothing is ever going to be goodenough for her. Most good stories find a way for tragedy to unite people into somethingbetter, so that they can overcome the adversity. Walking Dead justfocuses on a bunch of people who are going through a planetaryholocaust, without growing closer, without learning any universaltruths, without finding any spiritual values, without any personalmaturation of character, and without growing as human beings. There is not a single character who wakes up in the morning and thanksGod for being alive. |

Fantastic Surprise of a show!Caught the premier Halloween night was very impressed with the qualityof the show. Great acting and great gore (for TV). Haven't seen so manyheadshots before on television. Being based on a Comic I was a bitnervous going in, but my fears were put to rest about 5 minutes in. Thepremier starts out like "28 Days Later", but quickly goes off on itsown story. I would also like to add that the premise for "28 day" wastaken from this comic originally. I would highly recommend this show toanyone looking for great late night horror and gore. I hope the rest ofthe series stays at this high level consistently. I can see a high turnover rate for the stars of the show, (don't see anyone staying alivevery long).I will be tuning in everyweek now. A+ |

Not worth watchingObviously made for TV in its worst sense. Ridiculous dialog, laughableplot line, mostly bad acting.Enough blood and guts to keep the horror fans interested, but nothingto keep those of us who want more. Can't compare to such greats as Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Justified, TheWire, The Killing, Deadwood, etc. Think of the characters on the roof:white supremacist moron, Asian, blonde woman, black man, black woman, white male. Politically correct mix? Of course the white supremacistmakes outrageous remarks to all and makes the audience happy that he isleft locked up on the roof in the 2nd show. I don't know what happenedto him next as I couldn't even stand to watch any more episodes. Awaste of time. |

A Zombie Apocalypse show made by a master filmmakerFirst off, I am a huge zombie flick fan. With that said, I think themajority of Zombie films are pretty bad. I have watched everything from"Severed" to "Z.A.", I will pretty much watch any movie with Zombies init. This is-BY FAR- the best, most cinematic (and its a TV show!)zombie movie/show that has been released in several years. Seriously. This is large in part to Frank Darabont, the master filmmaker whohappened to direct one of my favorite horror films, "The Mist". Theensemble cast is great, handling the character driven script almostperfectly. The special effects and make up effects are on par withHollywoods best! This is not an action oriented zombie tale, but theaction, when there, is always exciting and suspenseful. The Zombies aresome of the creepiest put on film (see 'Bicycle Girl') and are a zombielovers dream come true!! I want this show to continue so bad, I justbought it (season 1) on blu-ray and just finished re-watching it. Ifyou are a zombie fan and haven't seen "The Walking Dead", go pick up acopy on DVD, you'll be soooo glad you did... :) |

Great Zombie TV Series ....If You're a Pansy. The Walking Dead is a great show in the Oughtie's. Who could forgetRick Grimes and his Cousin Shane. This show had lots of laighs, plentyof twists and turns, but I have just one question. Why Family Matters?Grimes and Shane worked in Law enforcement, that also employed anelevator operator named "Lulu Winslow". This character's comic reliefproves to be so popular, that she needs to be given a spin-off.Family Matters, which finally ended it's run in 1998. In case you don'tknow, Family Matters was the show that featured the world famous nerd, known as Steven Quincy Urkel. Family Matters was a decent, yet sillyshow, and being silly, only makes The Walking Dead look stupid. Now,when I watch re-runs of Family Matters on TBS Superstation, I alwayswonder why was this show so damn successful. And why did it have tolaunch from Perfect Strangers. Still, both great shows (one much betterthan the other) that had very successful series runs. If you canoverlook Family Matters, I would highly recommend The Walking Dead forit was a show with a great cast, funny jokes and lots of great episodeplots that only pansies who're afraid to watch real Romero movies couldenjoy!!!!! |

Friggin excellent....After reading most reviews on here I am glad to see most people havethe same opinion.. that this show is the dogs B****x!! The onlydownfall is too many adverts whilst it's on.. I am really hoping thereis a lot more to come from this TV series. Also that they have thesense to get it out on DVD in the future. I have read one review with acomment saying they felt the acting was poor. I am failing tounderstand this comment as I feel the show has some great actorsplaying some great characters! I do think this show has the potentialto become a massive hit. Makes a change to have a decent Zombie show onTV. Sure makes a change from all the Vampires... |

Yeah, it's a good showGeorge A. Romero once proclaimed, a long time ago, that, "When there isno more room in Hell, the dead will walk the Earth." Romero, is ofcourse, the man who wrote and directed a low-budget horror film called"Night of the Living Dead" in 1968, which became one of the greatestand scariest horror films of all time."Night of the Living Dead" helped make flesh-eating zombies a trulyhorrifying horror movie menace, and also gave rise to generation aftergeneration of bloody, flesh-eating zombies for legions of devoted fansto follow from - movies, books, video games, comics, and faux "zombiesurvival guides" (you get the point). Romero also directed "Dawn of theDead," "Night's" superior 1978 sequel, which proved once and for allthat zombies were here to stay. (Inconsequently, as a boastful aside,"Dawn of the Dead" is my favorite horror movie of all time and thebest, scariest, and most intelligent zombie movie I've ever seen.)The 21st century saw the impending soon-to-be real-life living deademergency, "Z"-Day as it's called by some - as a means of helping tocapitalize on the fears of the people living in the "new" reality ofour post-9/11 world. From the first "The Walking Dead" series of comicsin 2003; to Max Brooks's seminal "Z"-Day novel "World War Z" (one of myall-time favorite books, by the way); to Zack Synder's "Dawn of theDead" (2004), "Shaun of the Dead" (2004), and the "Resident Evil"movies; and to Romero even resurrecting his "Living Dead" series with"Land of the Dead" (2005), "Diary of the Dead" (2007) and "Survival ofthe Dead" (2009). The point is that in the 21st century, zombies areeverywhere you could imagine and they're not going away anytime soon.So here we are with "The Walking Dead," from filmmaker Frank Darabontand producer Gale Anne Hurd. "The Walking Dead" is an adaptation of theongoing series of comics by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and CharlieAdlard. While I've never read the comics this show is based on (becauseI initially believed the comics to be just more nihilisticpost-apocalyptic zombie survival-horror of little redeeming social orartistic value in a market that's already heavily saturated withzombie-horror fiction), I do feel now that "The Walking Dead" iscurrently one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. To their credit,Darabont, Hurd, and the cast & crew of this series have created anoutstanding piece of compelling horror-drama that grabs you by theheartstrings and forces you to watch, not just for the gory zombiehead-shots, but because of how the clearly defined and well-writtencharacters make you care about the cause for humanity's survival.I can't speak for the original comic books simply because I haven'tread them, but "The Walking Dead" does something few zombie movies (orbooks or video games, for that matter) are able to do correctly, andthat is create fully believable and realistic characters that you doactually care about and grow to know and like, in addition to servingup gory scenes of carnage and flesh-eating that fans of zombie-horrorwill no doubt be pleased of (that's why Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" issuch an important staple of the horror genre). No character on thisshow is under-written or truly unlikeable that you don't care if theysurvive or not. For the most part, these are ordinary people who aresurviving a post-apocalyptic world after a virus of unknown origin hastransformed much of the Earth's population into ravenous zombies (or"walkers").Using a set-up that's quite similar to the beginning moments of "28Days Later..." (2002), Sheriff's Deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) isshot-gunned into a coma by a trio of escaped convicts that lucky forhim, allows him to survive "The Walking Dead's" version of "Z"-Day. Hewakes up several months later, confused, disoriented and alone, andstruggling to find out what's going on. Soon enough, he finds that he'snot alone and that zombies have taken over the world. He does encounterother survivors, but his main mission is to reconnect with his wife andyoung son, whom he firmly believes are still alive somewhere. And he's right. His wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son Carl(Chandler Riggs) are indeed alive, along with a small group ofsurvivors that are led by his former partner Shane Walsh (JonBernthal). Other survivors include Andrea (Laurie Holden), Dale(Jeffrey DeMunn), Glenn (Steven Yeun), T-Dog (IronE Singleton), and thetrouble-making redneck Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). As stated before, the amazing depth of the characters in "The WalkingDead" makes a strong case for humanity's continued existence in thepost-"Z"-Day reality this show creates. This lends the show a depth andpoignancy that is rarely achieved in zombie-horror. Each one of thecharacters whether it be Rick Grimes, Shane Walsh, Dale, Andrea or evenDaryl, can allow the viewer to make an emotional connection with them(which in the zombie genre is a difficult thing to do correctly, especially if the focus is mostly on action sequences and gore, thoughthere is still plenty of that here, too). The prosthetic make-upeffects and gore by Greg Nicotero & company are simply outstanding, easily on-par with something that Tom Savini himself may have done onany one of Romero's zombie flicks. This is a mature-rated TV series, remember, so it's really not advisable to let children watch this showbecause of the graphic zombie violence."The Walking Dead" is one of the best TV shows on the air right now.Its humanity (that is what "The Walking Dead" is ultimately about, humanity's case for survival post-"Z"-Day) and three-dimensionalcharacters easily overpower the gore and special effects (althoughgore-hounds won't be disappointed by helpful doses of Nicotero's goryaction scenes this show stages up from point to point). "The WalkingDead" is highly recommended, highly compelling television programming.10/10 |

the walking dumbassesI have next to no sympathy for these clowns save Glen. Every one candie. They're such idiots. Who the hell gets pregnant during a zombieapocalypse? What kinda bitch tells someone to pick up shampoo andconditioner during a high risk supplies run? Why can't a fool tell thedifference between an autistic child and a zombie? It's as if a zombieinfestation gives people the right to be retarded.I did learn one thing from this film. I'm avoiding any and all peopleduring apocalyptic events. If the situation doesn't kill you thenaccidental misfire, unplanned pregnancies, cowardice, supply draining, stupidity, "no man left behind" idiocy, and incessant nagging fromstrangers will.update: it gets even dumberThey're rescuing zombies now. If this is an accurate reflection ofmorality in the the US then I am chumming shark infested waters withmyself. |

Stop Whining.I love the graphic novels. Kirkman is a great writer. There, I said it.Now I'll say this: this show isn't very good. If you like the comic, you'll be disappointed with the TV show. Not because of the changes(some good new characters and some brutal plot decisions) but becauseof the awful pacing and characterization. Sure they kill characterslike in the books, its just that in the show you're happy they die soyou don't have to hear their terrible crying all the time. Also, heres a mistake: there is 1 badass in the show and it isn't Rick.(FYI it's Dennis) I'm still watching for now, but I don't see myselflasting past episode 4 or 5 if the show continues on this rickety path. |

Brilliant show.....The walking dead is an amazing show by A.M.C networks. It's fun andintense. You will get addicted by watching the first few episodes.Ifirst thought that "mad men" was the best show on A.M.C but the walkingdead is far more better and far more interesting. I know reading longreviews may be boring to some people,so, I'm gonna make this short andto the point. This show has no flaws in it's script and may very wellbe in a league of it's own. Before season 2 even started it won severalawards and was also nominated for a Golden Globe award and Emmy award.Don't miss this t.v. show. It's safe to say that the walking dead doesnot redefine it's genre, it makes a genre of it's own. |

Opportunity missed - just another soapI have seen all of Season 1 plus 5 or 6 episodes season 2 and theprogramme has declined. It is now just another soap. The real interestfor me would be how the group would survive in a broken down society -finding food, water, shelter, medicine. Instead the plot involves aseries of manufactured accidents (falling off horses, down wells, beingaccidentally shot) linked by the standard soap sub plots (unwantedpregnancies, illicit love affairs). For me it's an opportunity missed -this could have been so much more. You have the opportunity to tell astory of survival against an extraordinary set of circumstances butinstead it wants us to worry about very mundane matters. |

Lets hope it gets betterFirst and foremost you should ignore the fans of the comic book unlessyou are one. They are just happy (and justifiably) to see theirfavorite series come to life.I was hoping for something epic. This series has great actors. From topto bottom, unlike most series these days the actors were apparentlyhired for their talent and it shows. The writing of the dialogue isgood and some of the direction choices (scenes) were excellent. But itjust doesn't gel. To be fair this is the first episode. A setup episodeand in time this series could be epic. Right now it just isn't and thereasons are predictable. In Hollywood the rentahack screenwriters only really know one thing.Soap opera writing. Thats why scifi on television usually fails. Whythe screen is overrun with spinoffs of the few good series that make it(L&O etc). Because hack writers truly believe every show is about theemotional needs of the characters. Oh and usually a lil bit of psychicpowers. Thats where this did/can fail and hard. Instead of focusing onhow hard it is to survive. How lonely and terrified the characters are.How insane it would drive some. What they might actually do in a realsituation this the entire series seems set up to explore the emotionsand connections of the people involved with the zombies and a destroyedworld just trifling background props. The only character to actuallypull off an emotional attachment is Lennie James, a brilliant actor. And sadly apparently not a series mainstay. You just don't care aboutthe leads family or feelings. You don't care about his partners familyor feelings. You just don't connect to the actors. You have that "iknow theyll be OK because the writers love them and they have acontract" feeling. There is some great scenery and you could tell the director was tryingto fit a huge vision into very little time. The actors all did stunningthings with what little script they were given. But it feels like thiswill be another brilliant concept failed by hack writers. Lets hope imwrong. Or that Hollywood finally learns something. |
