Torque...definitely needs work!

OK, i went to watch the movie with high expectations. I figured, if it were "from the producers of Fast and Furious, xXx, and S.W.A.T." that it should be good. I thought wrong. The movie itself was ok, but the visual effects toward the end were horrible, especially the chase seen at the very end...dreadful. Definitely something you would see in a game. The story was also kind of cheap, the FBI geek was terrible, and that "goth" chick from the Hellions needs to wear Chap Stick, or Lip Balm if her lips were that dry...all she did all movie long was lick her lips. Besides the bad graphics, and not so exciting acting, the movie deserves a C, if not lower. If you, the reader, is planning to go see this movie...think again, its not worth 9, or however much you pay...go see Along Came Polly or something, i bet that would be more interesting. Well, sorry if I shattered some ones high expectations, but you can't hide from the truth...

Gr8t Movie!

I reckon this movie was very well done. The stunts were amazing and thecast was incredible. Martin Henderson, Jay Hernandez, Will Yun Lee andIce Cube did a great job, their acting skills are amazing. Monet Mazueneeded some help with her acting skills here and there but still a goodjob she did. The visual effects, special effects and the cinematographywere amazing. The whole cast and crew were amazing making this film. Ifyou enjoyed The Fast and the Furious and Speed you will defiantly likethis. If your not even a fan of Motor Bikes i still advise you to seeit. Young and old will enjoy this movie. So go to the video shop andrent this movie NOW!!

Potential Wasted

I watched this with several of my biking buddies last week. I'd read thecomments on this board before watching the film so pretty much knew not toexpect a classic. But with no 'fast and the furious' style bike flicksoutthere (bar Biker Boyz) we were all pretty excited. The start of the movieproved that it had potential, and for the first half hour it showed realcoolness. Then it all went tits up! Now don't get me wrong, I wasn'texpecting a cult movie. I knew what I was walking into. I knew that itwasgoing to be some OTT, cheesy one lined, muscle pumped 'that didnt reallyhappen did it' kind of movie. But cmon! There's over the top, and thenthere's plain CRINGEWORTHY!!! I mean **SPOILERS** of course you expecttheover the top stunts like jumping onto the top of a train, but the ridingthrough the train carriages was something else. Then when we thought itcouldn't it possibly couldn't get any worse, **SPOILERS** those two womenhad a 10 minute fight whilst riding their bikes. OH MY GOD! Coupled withapolicewoman who was caught in the middle of a massive warehouse explosionbut managed to survive with a bruise, and a final sequence that lookedlikea computer game, we all left feeling pretty happy. Happy in the sensethatit took us a good half hour to stop laughing! Yeah yeah! I know youshouldn't expect realism with films like this, and I wasn't. You gottatakeit with a pinch of salt. But this film was just dire. Its also a shametosee Ice Cube going from such films as Three Kings, to this tripe!5/10.

Fast, intensifying, and exhilarating nonstop action

I don't care what all the critics say about this movie. It kept me insuspense during the whole movie. Good soundtrack, a lot of action, andgoodlooking actors. Another thing that I really appreciated about this movieisthe fact that the violence was somewhat cut to the effect that you knewsomeones neck was being snapped by a chain, but the scenes not shown inexplicit detail. Thank you. Enjoyed watching it with 10 yr. old son andhis friend.

The worst movie of the year

Just to give you an idea of how bad this film really is: My friend Jasonlaughed so hard that he coughed up blood, then vomited in the parking lot.This "movie" is the most horrible thing to ever be released in theaters.I'mnot saying it will be the worst, because "3Fast,3Furious" is undoubtedlyonthe way. The last 15 minutes of the film become a Pixar film, motorcyclesdoninja kicks, and two characters actually stand in front of opposing Pepsiand Mountain Dew billboards before fighting. Its a soul-shatteringexperience. I recommend you not only skip this film, but skip any filmthatwould ever be show in that same theater after it leaves.

Well, what can I say? Bikes, Chicks, Guns, Typical One-Liners, HyPhee!!!

I knew coming to see this film that good acting wasn't going to be afactor.Oh well. This movie is "The Fast and Furious" on bikes. It even has MattSchulze in the movie. The bad guy role is typical for him. Oh well. Whilethe acting wasn't great, the action was somewhat amazing. Even though theaction was overtop unbelieveable, it was still entertaining. Ice Cube hashis typical wannabe gangsta attitude. He trys so hard (a little to hard).Ohwell. Its good that this movie doesn't have a real serious plot. Theromancescenes don't fair as well either. Oh well. The last twenty minutes of thismovie is the only thing that keeps the movie intact.Final Judgement: **/**** (2 out 4 stars)

No masterpiece, but not terrible either

The most amazing thing about Torque is that it isn't terrible. Now, itisn't a good movie, heck, its borderline mediocre, but it isn't god-awful,and that is frankly what I was expecting from it. However, if you arelooking for an opportunity to check your brain at the door and just relaxand watch something that is engaging and even occasionally fun, then Torqueis your picture.Torque seems to have been conceived thanks to the success of 2001's The Fastand the Furious, a film which I haven't seen, but what little I know aboutit makes it obvious that Torque is culled from similar material. The filmopens with biker Cary Ford (Martin Henderson) returning home after spendingsome time hiding out in Taiwan. It seems that Cary fled because he wasbeing chased by the cops for running drugs, leaving his girlfriend and bikermechanic Shane (Monet Mazur) to take some of the brunt of the bust. However, it turns out that Cary was actually holding bikes from the realdrug-dealer, Henry James (Matt Schulze), who wants his bikes and his drugsback. Meanwhile, Cary has managed to get himself in a bit of a spat withthe leader of a rival bike gang named the Reapers, led by Trey (Ice Cube),and when Henry James notices friction, he decides to kill Trey's brother andframe Cary to attempt to flush him out. All the while, Cary is being tailedby two zealous DEA agents, Agent McPherson (Adam Scott) and Agent Henderson(Justina Machado) who are still convinced that Cary is a drugdealer.As you can tell from the description above, Torque doesn't have muchoriginality or intense plot development to boast about. Even so, Torqueisn't lacking in entertainment value. Sure it's not the smartest film youhave ever seen, and some of the events that occur defy all the laws ofphysics, but it's not boring. One bonus is the fact that director JosephKahn keeps the action moving and never lets the film sit too long, yetdoesn't shift the film into overdrive like such bloated actioners as TheRock and Armageddon. It also runs a respectable length, and it doesn'toverstay its welcome. It gets the job done and then politely wanders offscreen.This is not to suggest that Torque is a great film by any stretch of theimagination. It isn't. The plot is tissue-paper thin, the characterconflicts are rather predictable and easy to decipher, and yes, aspreviously stated, the film wanders occasionally into the realm of theridiculous (The last ten to fifteen minutes or so be the most obviousapplication of absolute silliness). The acting ranges from decent to lame. Martin Henderson, from the Ring, has an easy charm that proves infectious. He looks like he is having a good time, so we feel like we are having a goodtime. Matt Schulze turns in another slightly warmed-over, hammy villainperformance, proof that he needs to find a new type of role to be typecastin. Ice Cube is, well, Ice Cube. He gives about the same level ofperformance as in any other film he has acted in, which is passable, buthardly outstanding. Monet Mazur serves the script, but is hardly astandout.Very few will find much to remember long term in Torque, and I doubt it willbe the prize in most people's film collections, but not every film has tobe, and Torque does all it intends to do and nothing more. Occasionally,that's refreshing.

You get what you're supposed to get

I gave this movie an 8/10. Simply because this is a good movie...IF youwatch it with the right expectations. If you don't like amazingsurround-audio, amazing editing, amazing race/action-scenes and somehumor here and there, don't watch it.If you like "The Fast and the Furious" movies, then you will like thisone as well, even though the story isn't all that great and the actorsaren't well known. The surround-effects and the camera-viewpointsreally are amazing.The entire movie is pretty realistic. Well, it's not really, but youcan always say "I guess some people can actually do those tricks". Onlythe last scene has horrible special-effects, the last scene looks morelike a game-cut-scene then a real action-movie.The rating on IMDb is not justified. This movie was recorded for atarget audience. People who love race/action movies. If you don't likethose, don't watch it, and if you did watch this one, don't rate it.Audio: 9/10 Special effects: 7/10 Editing: 9/10 Acting: 8/10 Story:7/10 Dialogues: 7/10

Torque. Action packed, good stunts, nice bikes.

Mmmm. As the tag sez "What TOP GUN did for planes, SPEED did for buses,and FAST AND THE FURIOUS did for cars, TORQUE does for motorbikes.Some excellent action - by the producers of F&F. Bike chase ridingalong the top of a train was cool. A few slight hitches -- like ridingalong full tilt, and nicely stopping between two carriage while the badguy zooms past. Some nice wheelies (and girls) and cool stunts.Not too bad.Story line involved some meth hidden in a couple of bikes that the maincharacter "looked after" and discovered and hid to dodge the cops afterhim for possession. The owner comes after him wants it back, and a sagaensues.All in all -- I wouldn't mind a TOrque 2. :)

Fast, Furious, and Ridiculous

A fun movie. Thankfully quite short. Certainly the laws of physics (andcharacter development) do not apply here. A good time well spent if youdonot plan on thinking too much (though the ending still has me scratchingmyhead). The kind of film that I did not love but still am not upset Ispentthe time to watch it.

Nothing Special but a fun watch

I liked this movie. There was nothing special about it at all.Everythinglooked fake and most of the stunts were beyond believable. Who Cares? Itis a fun movie that not only pokes fun at itself but at the makers ownothermovie Fast and Furious. I thought this was a fun watch and all the votesseem to be coming from people who were looking for a serious movie withgreat acting. Why? You can tell by previews this is not that kind offilm.This is a great way to just entertain yourself. Go see itsoon.

It seems that people are not getting it.

OK, first off this is not a traditional 5 star movie, it's not The Godfather. I don't rate movies like most people due. If you would like to see cool bikes doing wild stunts, (yes, I know no human can in real life jump a steet bike off a train), a fun yet stupid plot, some hot chicks and guys (I'm metrosexual), and just would like to escape from reality, buy it, it's a fun movie. I feel sorry for people who can't enjoy just having a good time and not wanting some deep meaning. There's time to watch La Dolce Vita or Jules et Jim and there's a time to watch Torque.

Unrealistic

A cross between Fast & Furious/Matrix (fx) and Road Rash with lots ofridingwhich is impossible, being a seasoned biker I should know, the train scenewhere 2 bikes ride across the top of a moving train is I suppose possible,but you would not live to tell the tale.Also the end fight scene between the two girls is laughable as well as theend scene where the hero of the film rides this super fast bike whichlandsup doing acrobats in mid air is as OTT as the bike he isriding.Good film for kids or for a laugh, else miss it!3/10

Bike fighting.... BIKE FIGHTING

I never miss the chance to see movies for free and having friends thatworkin the theatre, I see a ton of movies (but pay for the ones I enjoyed).Theother night I got to see Torque. I didn't expect much with this movie andcouldn't wait at the chance to heckle it. But when it started, it was asifa blast wave of crap hit my face while my mouth was open. I was blinded,andhad a bad taste in my mouth. Now I don't enjoy a lot of movies out there(because I want to be a filmmaker and know I can do better) but sometimesthat one movie comes along and makes you wonder, "people REALLY enjoythis?"Whats next from the producers of this film, "2 Torque'd"? This movie is adefinate case of STYLE over substance. I can deal with crappy movies madefrom novels, video games and other media but I can't deal with crappymoviesthat are defecated out of the blue. This movie made my mind sad and now Ineed to go watch some BOONDOCK SAINTS to feel better.

I CAN'T Believe I COULD BE SO STUPID AND SO NIEVE!!!!!!!

I hardly ever write a review on a movie unless it's just toogood.......or in this case VERY, VERY BAD! I put off seeing this moviefor almost a year , but after owning a Hayabusa for a few months now Iwas getting kinda edgy for some kind of movie about motorcycles. Icould tell just from the previews of this movie before it ever came outit was going to suck. I remember in one commercial of it on TV seeing amotorcycle going like 90 miles an hour, doing a stoppie into a 180degree turn into a tree and taking back off in the oppositedirection......Right! And I thought jerry bruckheimer's movies werebad. Remember the car flying over the traffic jam on "Gone In 60Seconds"? How about in Con Air where the car gets hitched onto theairplane and when the airplane takes off(going at least 150MPH) and isabout 200 feet in the air the car gets released and falls Straight DOWNIN FRONT OF THE OWNER as if it were never moving in the first place?Well, if that kind of stuff frustrates you, this movie will send youinto a cardiac arrest. In fact, Issac Newton is turning in his graveright now!Imagine a Black Hummer doing 100 MPH when it hits a sign, that hascoincidentally been knocked over into a ramp, and does a corkscrewmaneuver and, at the end of the shot, is halfway though its flight. Nowcut to car sitting in bumper to bumper traffic when all of a sudden avery familiar Hummer falls out of the sky from 20 feet above upsidedown and lands on the car.......Sort of like it was dropped from acrane.....MY GOD WHYYYYYYY?????????What about the two girl's fight scene? That was good right? I mean, weall like to see two beautiful looking girls fight right? Right? There'sa chance they might kiss......UNLESS THERE FIGHTIN ON MOTORCYCLES!!!!Actually, I didn't mean to say fighting on, what I meant to say isfighting WITH motorcycles. They........You know what, I'm going to stop here before I give myself a heartattack........I guess the thing that really makes me sick when I sawthis movie, is the fact that everyone in that movie probably made moremoney on that one movie than i will make in 20 years as a hard workingcitizen. That and the fact that at least one person out there mighthave actually liked it. If you see this movie, make sure you are withat least one other person so you two can keep yourselves sane byreassuring each other that this movie and it's "action scenes" suck,and your now hallucinating.

Kill your self before you see this movie!!!

One, I ride motorcycles! I am a motorcycle fanatic! So with that said, I must tell you that this movie is worse than the worse movie you have ever seen! Gili and Ishtar have nothing on this movie!!! It was so bad that it took about 3 mins to realize that is was *****! I'll run it down for you... you cant ride a street bike on dirt, over railroad tracks, in a forest, on a train, bewteen train compartments, with out eyewear, or bunny hop trees! (this is notthe X-games!) A motorcycles' forks will not suddenly appear longer so you can ride in the dirt. you cant do a endo(stoppie) on dirt!!! A person cannot be in a building and blow it up only to not have a scratch on them or charmarks!you cant run a sport bike pipe on a harley, you cant run a harley on nitrous and then sit up when you punch it! you cant fight on a bike, you cant get your money back if you see this movie, you cant get the time you wasted seeing it back neither, bike rallys are not that lame, there are no street bike motorcycle gangs, no one rides kawasaki ZX-9's anymore, An aprilia rsv mlle R is not that fast, any movie with out ducati's or MV agusta's in it is just plain bull*****!there is so much wrong with this movie that i am geting a headach for reliving it to type it to you!! If ever there was a director out there that wanted to make a movie about Motorcycles please contact me, a real enthusiest! I can give you a real backdrop! this movie sucks so bad that i called all my boys that ragged on Bikerboys and told them that it made biker boys look like an oscar winning movie!please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Not exactly Oscar material,but certainly worth a short while of your time

STAR RATING:*****Unmissable****Very Good***Okay**You Could Go Out For AMeal Instead*Avoid At All CostsCary Ford (Martin Henderson) is a young bike racer who returns home topatch things up with old flame Shane (Monet Mazur).However,he's alsostolen a couple of bikes from drug dealer Henry James (Matt Schulze)which had a consignment of drugs in them.Their dispute grows even moreviolent when the brother of Trey (Ice Cube,not exactly passionate abouthis work!) is murdered by James and Cary is put in the frame forit,causing Trey to forcefully pursue his wrongful target ofretribution.This movie is aimed forcefully at young men who dig fastcars/bikes,beautiful women in bikinis and thongs and everything to moveat 100 miles a minute!And I was moreorless able to deduct this afterhaving watched the trailer,and was given further proof by thesurprisingly short running time!And,to a degree,I was not reallydisappointed on these counts.However,there is an intriguing angle tothe story and the script flourishes pleasantly throughout.Some of theaction's,unsurprisingly,very nice too.The story isn't,though.So,all inall,not a big pleasant surprise in any way but certainly not as big atur-que as I originally thought it would be.**

Cool, Amazing, and underrated

well, when i was 13 years old back in 2004 and this movie was in thetheaters, i came to watch it because all the movie in the cinema wererated R so this was my only optionin the Posters i saw that it was from the producers of fast and furiousbut now with the motor-bike subject, anyways i was thinking, er... wellprobably is an other movie about speed, bikes and shotguns, gangs andraces BUT! hell yeah, i was so wrong!!!This movie was the best action flick i ever seen, i mean, something iswatching it in a big screen and another watching it at home... but wheni saw it in the big cinema, Oh My Gosh... The opening its fantastic,the visual environment of the movie is magical, amazingness The actorsare perfect and they all act well, the story-line and the plot is twothumbs up!! so i got out of the theatre with a very big smile!!!i'll give it 10 out of 10 just for being an amazing and different toall other action movie ever made, Thumbs up TorqueNOTE: If you wanna really enjoy this movie as i did, watch the allflick in a big screen.
