Interesting premise but ultimately forgettableI wanted to like this show, I really did. But it suffers from too manyissues, and after 6 or 7 episodes, I've given up. Poppy Montgomery'sWAT character, Sam Spade, became extremely popular, and like so many TVactors whose characters skyrocket like that, the actor herself becamelazy. Although she attempts a decent American accent, her vowels areheavily colored with Australian diphthongs, and she really needs adiction coach. Her character, Carrie Wells, isn't even all that likable- she's a bit arrogant and ill-mannered, and completely fails to evokesympathy for her past. Unlike Jane Timoney in "Prime Suspect," however,Carrie isn't a brilliant detective, she just has a really good memory. The producers of the show and Montgomery herself apparently want toshow off her incredible physique, but she's so hardbodied it's almost acaricature. Tight, skimpy tank tops, heaving cleavage, and close-upshots of a butt made out of granite aren't really all that attractive. There was a recent web post somewhere about how Robin Tunney'sportrayal of Teresa Lisbon on "The Mentalist" shows women in lawenforcement in a positive and professional light - Montgomery'sappearance and performance in "Unforgettable" do just the opposite. So,I give up. Bye, "Unforgettable." |

Misnamed.Nothing particularly memorable here.Compelling concept, not compulsive viewing.Poppy is wearing her years well. Yeoman support cast. No idea how hyperthymesia actually works but the different viewpointsetc at her command are nothing like my ordinary powers of observationand recall.Even if it is an accurate depiction, still need to use it judiciously.Turning a moving tarp into a Hollywood production smacks ofdesperation.Therein lies the crux of the problem. Play it straight and get lost inthe crowd of cop shows or get needlessly fancy and lose viewerinterest. With or without the twist, simply fails to distinguish itself.Wish them well.Thank you.Bad to worse.Turning around at just the right time in a bowling alley and justlooking at the refreshment counter just as spotter/shooter collects hisorder was bad enough. But she's now helping other people remember. You see a man being killedalbeit reflected in a mirror and you need poppy to tell you, to closeyour eyes and breathe slowly to suddenly remember the killer's face ?Wow, Really ?Seems like a bunch of monkeys are hammering away at the keys. They latched onto this unusual ability as a selling point and theyclearly aren't smart enough to work it it into a series of episodes. To be fair they don't have much to work with. She was personallyinvolved in the crime in the pilot but now she's just another coparriving later at the crime scene like everyone else. The way they present it isn't even really so much remembering asobserving.Want to watch powers of observation ? Try Cumberbatch in Sherlock.http://imdb.com/title/tt1475582/Poppy and the lame back story aren't helping. When it comes toexpressing strong emotions, like all ordinary actors Poppy has a limitand it doesn't take her long to reach it. The murdered sister is a hackneyed plot device as in so many othershows. Mulder's abducted sister, Red John, Beckett's mom and on and on.May get better but doubt it and am done watching. |

Great show but......there are some mistakes which I cannot ignore. The way she thinksback to use her flawless memory is one. How can you have an out of body3 dimensional experience when all you could see where things in frontof you? They should just stuck to the POV (point of view) recollectionof hers rather than Carrie seeing herself from the side as if she'swatching the show. Also I'm on the 4th episode now and a character whowas involved in the case in the 3rd episode just walked in and Carrieis asking who he is! Anyway I do like the characters, the police part of it as well as howshe deals with her "gift" like people did in the first season ofHeroes: Her normal life is heavily impacted no matter how much of ahelp she is as a detective or a witness to crime scenes.Sack the person in charge of continuity and make sure things are notover-simplified (the lack of POV view etc) just so it can appeal topeople with a lower IQ :P |

Awful and Forgettable.Well, because of the positive reviews for this show, I decided to giveit more of a chance and watched a few more episodes - BIG MISTAKE!!! Itis absolutely torture to watch! Anyone that has anything good to sayabout this MUST be connected to it somehow and have a vested interestin it doing good. CBS - do not look at any positive reviews of thisshow, it is really, really bad and you probably should replace it -even with reruns of a show that was fairly interesting. This thing isjust BAD, BAD, BAD! The writing, the acting, the way it's put together,EVERYTHING!!!!Everything about it was horrible. The first 5 minutes the actors put onthe worst New York accents and inflections ever on screen - then theaccents and bad New Yorker mannerisms were completely gone for the restof the show. Matter of fact, the female lead is bad at doing just abasic American accent much less a particular New York accent. The wholeshtick of the show of her never forgetting anything is so lame anduseless. The story line of the episode was about the most boring withthe utmost weakly written script I have ever seen on a cop show. Heldno interest at all!! There is nothing appealing or interesting aboutany character and only mediocre acting done by anyone in the cast. Yougotta be kidding me - DO NOT watch, is waste of an hour that you'llwant back. |

Slow . . . uninteresting . . . cheesy . . .The show does not feature an ensemble as in "Without a Trace." Poppy ison camera way too much. And when she's flashing back with herphotographic memory everything goes to slow-mo and let me tell you bythe end of the show you've seen that enough. With the exception of thelead, the characters are not developed and are uninteresting. We knowthat her love interest is still in love with her - but what the viewercan't shake is why? What's so great about her character that this greatguy thinks she so fabulous? She seems pretty boring to the viewer.Additionally, although the leads former love interest is a terrificactor - he has no chemistry with Poppy. I think that Poppy was offeredher own starring show and couldn't resist. Although a terrific actorPoppy doesn't really have a large enough array of acting tools orenough personal charisma to carry an entire show - in this pilot she'sexpected to. She has an air of indifference (especially toward men)that make her in a starring role - a let down in general. I would loveto see her back in an ensemble - but I won't watch this snoozer again. |

Refreshing change to reality TVThe other reviews criticizing her total recall, but yet taking time torecall something relevant to the case are bogus. She obviously needs tobe stimulated or have some pertinence to recall the memory. The factthat she should not see herself in the memories maybe valid but a sorryreason to dismiss the show. If someone has a special gift, who is tosay exactly how this gift works. I enjoy trying to figure out the casesand stimulating my mind versus watching mindless reality television. Itis not the best new show out there but it is definitely worth watching.I would compare it to Monk which an extremely popular show. The onlypart that I do not like about this show and many of the new shows isthe darkness used in shooting scenes. I do not understand the need forso much darkness and on the new televisions you can hardly see the darkscenes. The show is very refreshing change to reality television. |

Something a little differentI really liked something a little different than the usualpolice/medical examiner shows. This added quirk could just make it muchmore enjoyable. It seems well-cast and just needs time to develop thepremise and the cast into a good show. At least give it more than oneepisode before pounding it to death. I find that most of the situationcomedies given to us to watch (such as Two and a half Men) are muchmore inane and unwatchable, some after a number of seasons. I thinkmost of the posts on this new show are like critics have always been:unable to give a show a season to prove itself. It takes a bit to grow, like most things. I do admit that having the lady appear in her ownflashbacks is a little odd, but perhaps in the future they could handleit like they handle the flashbacks of Gibbs in NCIS; sort of make thema little fuzzy around the edges so you would know what they are. But Ithink Poppy is worth at least giving a chance to see how she is goingto handle things. Hope they find a few happy things to put into herlife. She had a lot of heaviness in Without A Trace. She needs to finda little more joy in this character. (Writers.....listen up!) |

AWESOME new show!I totally love everything about this show ... the concept is fantasticand actually believable! All of the actors are superb, particularlyPoppy Montgomery, Michael Gaston and Dylan Walsh! Also, the skepticismshown by team members Kevin Rankin and Daya Vaidya are absolutelyperfect! In a lot of ways, Carrie is the female version of Patrick Jane from TheMentalist. I love the strength and vulnerability displayed by Carrieand Patrick Jane. Jane's wife and child were murdered by Red John andPatrick feels responsible because he taunted Red John on television. With Carrie, the murder of her big sister, Rachel, when they werechildren, was a traumatic event that is compounded by the fact thatCarrie she can't remember specific details of Rachel's murder and itremains unsolved. It haunts Carrie as an adult because it's the ONLYthing in her entire life that she CAN'T remember! Carrie's childhoodexperiences with cops and shrinks investigating Rachel's murder, makeher a better cop as she is more aware of the trauma being experiencedby both victims and witnesses alike. Good writing, good acting and good time slot are all high praise toCBS! I just hope they will give Unforgettable a fair chance to developa strong following. Having Poppy Montgomery with her Criminal Minds fanbase and Michael Gaston with his Mentalist fan base are an added bonusfor the show. Having the show follow solid shows like NCIS and NCIS: LAmake Unforgettable's ratings almost a guarantee. Thanks, CBS! Tuesday night totally belongs to you! |

I LOVE Poppy as an actress in anything!I think Poppy Montgomery is a terrific actress and I have followed herthrough Without a Trace and in movies and now in Unforgettable. It's sogreat that she is still a "bankable head-liner" for a weekly series. Her personality is perfect for a drama and she comes across as abelievable character.I have just a couple of issues with this show/Poppy's portrayal of thischaracter. Why does she always wear tank top (undershirt) tops? What'swrong with sleeves? Why does she have such RED hair? Unless it's her natural colour, it istoo red!Why does she always have sad eyes? She can make a normal face, butseems to always have close-ups showing her with the saddestexpressions! Minor complaints only. I watch the show even though these issues getannoying after a while. Long live Poppy Montgomery! |

disappointing after allWhen I read about the show I built some expectations. Unfortunately, they weren't met by far. I went through two episodes, trying tounderstand the means this show is supposed to draw attention andprovide amusement of any kind, then I finally gave up.The concept is interesting, but its potential was wasted. The plot islazy and boring - basically you have to watch like 90% of developmentwhich has only one purpose to kill some time. When 'the magic' breaksthe case it's too late. The damage was done.I do not want to discourage anyone. Watch it and see it for yourself.Maybe what I couldn't get or use will work for you. |
