Vegas Vacation

I loved this movie! It was very funny, and entertaining. Ethan Embry was also a cutie! You also got to see lots of Vegas, which was exciting! This must be the best Vacation film yet!

This is WAY better than European Vacation

I don't understand how fans of the series insist that this is the worst one. For coming out eight years after the last installment, this movie is better than you'd expect. Unlike European Vacation, where without Chevy, the film would be unwatchable, here we have a great looking movie with likable stars that present an irresistable postcard for Las Vegas. Beverly D'Angelo is still quite lovely and the Griswold kids are likable and good looking, unlike the annoying, ugly kids that ruined European Vacation (no disrespect to Jason Lively and Dana Hill, but their characters were written rather shrill and irritating). Randy Quaid and crew aren't entirely necessary, but they don't hurt the film either. The only thing I could critique is Chevy himself. He's obviously aged since Christmas Vacation and seems a little uninterested. The ocassionally spotty screenplay has him doing silly things (like the whole Hoover Dam sequence) but he still assumes the role with comfort and command. It's good that they ended the series with this. They wrapped the series up with dignity intact.

This is my dam review!

Either the film makers are getting tired of the "Vacation" movies, or the writers. This movie is on par with the other "Vacation" movies, but barely. It does have "Holiday Road" which hasn't been heard since the first one. The Griswolds go to Las Vegas this time. They see the Hoover Dam ("Take all the dam pictures you want") and Clark loses all his money with gambling. Rusty gets lucky and wins 4 cars. Wayne Newton woos Hellen, but fails. Let's hope the next "Vacation" movie is better.

ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN

I have no idea what anyone who gave this thing 4 or 5 stars was watching. It is so unbelievably bad. So bad that I can't even fathom that anyone on earth found anything redeemable in this movie. Seriously - someone tell me how this piece of poo could get 4 stars! Can you list some other movies you all gave 4 stars? Operation Dumbo Drop? From Justin to Kelly? Garbage!

My Favorite Movie

What more can I say? The best vacation this one is, and certainly the funniest. I love all the constant jokes, and Ellen is totally hot in that Wayniac outfit. "Now please enjoy the dam tour" 5/5!

just as hilarious as all the Vacation movies with Chase

worth the laughs every time I play it in my dvd playerwill be a hit with comedies 90 years from nowseen it 4 times on vhs at my mom's houseand 2 times on dvd alreadya classic comedyit touches too with it's sensitivity to caring for others and not just yourself in Vegas in certain parts of the movie

3 Stars For "Vegas"

I have never really been a big Chevy Chase fan, however I accidentally stumbled upon this movie when it aired on tv and enjoyed it so much that I bought it on DVD. Chevy Chase is moderately funny in this movie, however at times his humor can be a little predictable and annoying. But it's the other characters in the movie that made it more memorable. Randy Quaid had a small part in this movie and was probably the most comical and entertaining of all the characters.

It's Just a Movie....

Some of these reviews are unreal. It's like "Gambling annonomous" members were given this movie to review. It's a movie. This stuff does not happen in real life. That's why it's a "$@$&@#$ Movie."Maybe if you step away from the slot machines for a second, you'll realize it's fantasy. Just good ol' fun at the movies.Anyway, great fun. Better than "European Vacation', but equal to "Christmas Vacation."Oh by the way, as far as reality goes...Russ and Audrey look different, don't they??(as they have in every damn one).IT'S A MOVIE...DEAL WITH IT !!!!!

I wish I could dump barrels of fish guts on Papa Gorgio!

I hate people out of jealousy who hit a jackpot at a slot machine after only their first fews spins when yet they never even played slots before.Papa Gorgio (Russ Griswold) is this movie wins at least 2 major jackpots at 2 different slot machines on the very first spin! (I mean crap man, now there's a guy that I REALLY hate out of jealousy!)I am so jealous of those lucky [lady] and SOBs that do it on their very first few spins because I've played those damn machines every month for over a year and a half. I've done over 70,000 unsuccessful spins and have lost quite a bit of money over these many months at those damn machines.. I've still never hit a jackpot.I really wish I could buy one of those damn slot machines from a US casino like say 'Wild Cherry' or the 'Red, White, and Blue' machine and smash it to pieces with my slegehammer the same way I smashed that 'Slots with Video Poker' VHS. That's how much I hate slot machines and those damn, lucky jackpot winners who do it on their first few spins!!That jackpot that that occasional lucky male or female (...) wins on their VERY FIRST VISIT in that casino in under 100 spins just devistaes me!!! That jackpot should be mine!Where the hell's MY jackpot?!?!?!?I'm WAY OVERDUE for a jackpot!

What went wrong??

Completely lackluster comedy, the fourth (and hopefully the last) inthe financially successful "Vacation" pantheon has Chevy Chase back asgoofy dad Clark Griswold, taking his family on another adventure,leaving the suburbs for the lights of Las Vegas. A couple of biglaughs--and a game attempt to keep it afloat by Chase, still workingvery well with Beverly D'Angelo--but the direction is limp, the gagsare blown time after time, and a sub-plot involving trailer-trashcousin Randy Quaid is painfully gratuitous. This movie series needs apermanent vacation! Nice (if obvious) cameos by Siegfried & Roy and, inthe movie's best bit, Christie Brinkley. * from ****

I used to like it, but now I think it is silly.

I used to really like Vegas Vacation. But I watched it again recentlyand, well, it wasn't that good. I still give it credit, but it's notthat great. Vegas vacation is rated PG, and I can really see it. Thefilm has it's funny moments but really doesn't come alive like thefirst and third film did. The film is corny, and there are many sillyscenes. Ellen(Beverly D'Angelo) is irritating, and in this film shefalls head over heels for Wayne Newton. If only I could find these highheels so then I could throw them at her. Vegas Vacation is sort ofirritating. It's probably the weakest in the series. It's a silly,silly sequel.Vegas vacation:**/****

What's not to like? This movie is a classic like the first.

I've read many comments about the Vacation movies. Most people give theoriginal "Vacation" high marks, but trash the others. I think a lot ofpeople just like to be pick on Chevy Chase. "Vacation" is the best, butI liked the sequels and "Vegas Vacation" is my favorite of them. Mykids just love to watch "Vegas Vacation". You can't pop in the DVDexpecting to watch a movie that will be thought provoking or lifealtering. It was made to make people laugh and it accomplishes thatvery well. Chevy Chase and cast are very funny in this movie. The WayneNewton bit was great. I love going to Vegas, and I love this movie.When my wife and I fly to Vegas, we always kid about going to thebathroom to join "the club" like Clark and Ellen. Numerous other thingsremind us of the movie when we are in Vegas, and it has made thosetrips even more enjoyable. Just wish Chevy would do another "Vacation"movie.

Worth Having in the Collection

This review is from: Vegas Vacation (Widescreen Edition) (DVD) All in all a great movie. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because The first two in the series are my favorite (especially Christmas Vacation). I've seen it more times than I remember, but still felt the need to add it to my collection.

4th of the series

This time around Clark takes his Fam to Las Vegas where Clark gets into agambling obsession, Ellen starts hanging out with Wayne Newton, Rusty sneaksinto casinos as Mr Pappajorgio, Audry starts hanging out with Cousin Vickiand becomes a dancer...I thought through out this movie that the charactershave changed Ellen just seemed alot different in vacation and christmas thenshe did in this one....I loved the part where Cousin Eddie sees Wayne Newtonhis face it was so funny...Christie Brinkley has a cameo in this one appearing as the griswolds aredriving to hoover dam and you also get to hear the Holiday Road song!Overall i give this movie 3 and a half stars ***1/2

Stupid Film Made Just to Capitalize on Success of Series

Tedious fourth installment in the popular series has Chevy Chase and companytaking a vacation to Las Vegas. The predictable problems occur and thesophomoric laughs come in a constant wave. This film feels rushed and lookscheap. There is just no screenplay and the direction is awful to say theleast. Chase and Beverly D'Angelo still have a sort of magic together, butthat is not enough to carry weak material. 2 stars out of 5.

The "Never Say Never Again" of The Vacation Series

This is a very funny movie. Not as funny Christmas Vacation it sort ofpredecessor. The laughs excellently played, especially (Possibly spoiling)the Hoover Dam part (Please feel free to take any Dam pictures or ask anyDam questions). A definite must see.

Hilarious gambling tips from Chevy Chase himself

I haven't ever saw the previous movies in this series, but I know one thing, "Vegas Vacation" isn't a bad movie at all. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo star in this funny movie in which them and their two kids, known as the Griswold family, go to Las Vegas for a family vacation when Chevy Chase finds out that he has a gambling addiction problem. And even worse, Chevy Chase has got to be the best in the world at losing, especially at Blackjack. The Griswold family also take a trip to the Hoover Dam which is pretty amusing."Vegas Vacation" is a good movie, but it's not one of Chevy Chase's funniest movies, at least not in my opinion it wasn't. However, parts of it are hilarious and it's a fun movie to watch, so I do recommend it to anybody who likes comedy movies. You might learn some tips on what not to do if you ever go gambling from Chevy Chase himself.

Not as good as previous Vacations

If you enjoying seeing Las Vegas in films, then check this out since they film the movie all around Las Vegas. Not as many laughs compared to the other vacations, but worth checking out. Wayne Newton was great as himself in the movie and as usual, Randy Quaid was the man.
